What Lizzie is talking about at 12:45 is exactly what I've been going through the past month. I know it's not the topic of this video but her words hit a spot and although I have achieved a few goals since I started professional photography I feel like I'm back at 0. Maybe it's the quarantine, maybe it's lack of inspiration, maybe I got into it too much - I don't know. But hearing these words from Lizzie and getting a positive react from Peter gives me comfort into knowing that I'm not alone in this.

@@Drobek6I wouldn’t say it’s an American thing, it’s just a photography thing. Photography’s a very expensive thing to do as just a hobby. As a profession though, it’s easier to justify the expenses.
Peter Lik is the reason I got into photography too. I saw his gallery in Vegas.....his work is not even describable in words, nor online in photos. The colours he uses are a must see in person. It is insane.
I've been very well paid for my paintings in DR, one of the best ever here... but going to USA to sell for a fair price! Having a visión is Great and knowing your work worth.

Never knew that about you Pete. Peter Lik was my inspiration to get into photography. I went to his studio in Maui and was blown away. Love how they light up the back of his photos and it makes the entire place explode with color!
Scotland is so beautiful. So many castles and other places to see there like that tower in Odan, Corrour, and the Glenfinnan Viaduct (aka the one from Harry Potter). Need to make a visit

Peter and Lizzie, I've been shooting photographs since I was 6 years old. With a little brownie camera. I never took it seriously I just enjoy doing it. When I was a teenager my mother and I had a dark room in our bathroom. You've inspired me here to take a closer look at my photographs, and even consider taking them a little more seriously. Peter, Peter Lik is one of my wifes favorite photographers. We'll sometimes stop by his Waikiki gallery and stare at his work in amazement. The quality and resolution of his huge works of photographic art is incredible. When we were able to, before this crap pandemic, we would fly to his Maui gallery and admire his work there. Hello Peter! I’m going to assume that you won’t see this, but I wanted to say that you inspire me to create content. I just have a question. I’m an editor, and I don’t know how to get paying clients. Any advice?
I am no Peter but... share your work, use proper hashtags, let everybody know you do it... email samples of your work to studios or professionals that might need your service... one will hire you eventually... when that one person gives you the opportunity make sure you over deliver and then do it again..the word will spread and you will start having more consistent work... Its what I did as a graphic designer and illustrator. Good luck!!
I can't begin to describe how much i enjoy these sessions. They are so motivational to see how photography sticks with you over the years. I've only been at it for about a year now and hope to have photos to look back and reflect on of my own down the road
You can definitely skip Shutterstock/BigStock. They have changed the way they pay contributors and totally screwed them. I am doing ok with Adobe, Istockphoto/Getty and Pond5.

pete i watched your video a while ago about getting my own photos printed, just a few days ago i bought a bunch of matted $1 photo frames, got a bunch of free 4x6 prints from the pharmacy, and a bought a couple 8x10 prints. now i have a bunch of my own work on the wall and it really is a great feeling :) you keep inspiring new photographers and content creators and i'm so appreciative of what you do

Peter, you inspire me a lot. I guess I have watched almost each of your videos. You inspired me into photography. My first gig of documentary photography was inspired by you. After a long time of being off photography and I begin to question if I'm really good at this thing, then I watch your video again and boom I feel alive and feel like this is meant for me. By the way, I never trusted my photography skills, my first gig was offered to me by a friend who actually saw my shots and thought they were exceptional, he literally believed in me more than myself. I still have that little doubt about myself. After watching this video, now I am planning on saving monthly for 5 months to buy myself a personal camera. Thanks Peter🙌🙌

this is what i love about photography. Two photographers can see the same subject and same time but will 100% get two vastly different photos
