And this music, keeps remembering us that the characters are basically alone, in an isolated ghostly warzone. With the only company of edad.
Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 had the best music EVER MADE in human history for a horror game. The background music alone is what carries the emotions and feelings of the game locations. I would describe this music with a feeling of mysterious eerie desolation and lonelyness, and rain dropping against the windows of the old office. It is so strange that I feel comforted listening to this kind of dark ambient music? It leaves me in a mood state of sadness, alertness, isolation and loneliness ... but at the same time makes me feel good ... and "alive". I love the soundtrack of Resident Evil 1,2 and 3.

There's so much depth to all the music in the old Resident Evil games, so much that the music is a character on its own. Great track. Too bad it wash't included in re2 remake. It would completely fit the atmosphere of Claire's sense of dissapoinment that she will not find Chris here, and sense of being sieged by all those zombies and tyrant walking around
Well said.. I always felt the same sense of dread being left behind as all of the S.T.A.R.S members are either dead or missing at this point of the story. Chris is nowhere to be found and the safe haven of the R.P.D building feels more like a forgotten tomb. The music represents all of this.
@@larsulrich3356 It actually wasn't unfortunately, the track that plays in the RE2 remake in the S.T.A.R.S office with the Original BGM selected is Claire & Leon, this wasn't played which really sucked, the original BGM was very off in a number of sections of the game (music from the original OST not playing where it should, I know for some sections they had to improvise given the changes to the layout of the game for the remake) im hoping a modder somewhere will correct this.

The darkness, the fear, confusion, panic all drone on with a sinister wail while time ticks on, seconds running out. Isolation suffocates you, but somewhere in that dark, there is something else. Determination. A fire to survive. Sparse, so sparse you think it's long gone, but it's not. Suddenly, the keys hit and you're filled with brazen courage. In that second, you know you won't find any help here. You have to move. Stagnation is Death. Go. There is nothing more to do here.
Looking at the photo of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha and Bravo teams in front of the helicopter with this music playing.... chilling... knowing that more than half the team altogether succumbed to some tragic fate. Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Barry are the only survivors.
I sat there looking trying to figure out who's who. Took me years but I think I know who everyone is now. Can't wait to see the picture in HD when the game gets remade.

I was scared to do it at first, then just thought "whatever" I mean only some ps2s are ps1 compatible I think, but you could always try that (it also had something to do with the disc being purple too)
They initially used this as the 2nd floor corridor theme of the R.P.D. in the RE/BH2 beta version. It's a great track, so I don't know why they didn't go with it. Oh well. At least they used it in the S.T.A.R.S. office, so good enough.

This theme really fits the haunting atmosphere of the office. When you played the original and get to this office, you realize that most of the people who had used it are now dead. Its like a faint echo of the first game to remind you this isn't the first time this kind of thing happened, and the horror now is on a grander scale.
I remember when I used to work night shift in a Warehouse I worked at, the office area would be empty and half dark once the sun was all the way down. This piece from the game kinda reminds me of it.
Resident Evil 2 knew how to make you feel trapped, the music/environments and puzzles just made it harder to escape and it affected the players mood too.

This was the first thing that popped into my head.
I am still lost at how capcom hasn't remastered the original 3 games (not remakes) and sold them for ps5,Xbox and PC. The remakes definently are amazing (apart from RE3make imo) but they did not capture the same scary feelint even the originals give me to this day. Being 30 it bring me back to being 7/8 yrs old playing them.

This theme is amazing. Not only does it leave the threat of the T-Virus infected monsters slowly creep in, but the *name* makes complete sense. There's nothing to do in that police office, with zombies running about. What sense of order is there? The only gripe I have is that zombie Brad wasn't here. It would make total sense.
The foreboding feel of this track makes me think of the ongoing G virus mutation horrifically twisting William's body into the abomination that will stalk the player throughout this game

@Vandole you are right but I bought the deluxe edition where you have the soundtrack swap between remake and original and it sounds to me they enhance the audio and it sounds amazing so for there to be the option on the soundtrack swap I wish this track was included.

The first 3 Resident Evil games were much better than the rest of the entire RE franchise & nowhere is that more evident than the soundtrack. Every track is eerie, intense, unsettling & memorable. Everything since feels like Capcom just refuses to stop making lesser remakes for diminishing returns.
The remake of the original Resident Evil is leagues ahead of the original game. I love the original, but out of the original trilogy it has aged the worst.
This song is so good and moody. Really stands out amongst the rest of re2. Im pretty sure it's from 1.5 it fits in more with the original soundtrack than the final re2 version.

@Vandole you are right but I bought the deluxe edition where you have the soundtrack swap between remake and original and it sounds to me they enhance the audio and it sounds amazing so for there to be the option on the soundtrack swap I wish this track was included.

The first 3 Resident Evil games were much better than the rest of the entire RE franchise & nowhere is that more evident than the soundtrack. Every track is eerie, intense, unsettling & memorable. Everything since feels like Capcom just refuses to stop making lesser remakes for diminishing returns.
The remake of the original Resident Evil is leagues ahead of the original game. I love the original, but out of the original trilogy it has aged the worst.

What a soundtrack.
This song is so good and moody. Really stands out amongst the rest of re2. Im pretty sure it's from 1.5 it fits in more with the original soundtrack than the final re2 version.
This song to me represents the creation of America and the destruction of America, which was all planned out long before the Founding Fathers played as the front.
