I can’t believe that a masculinity contest between Tyson Fury and Ben Shapiro is even a conversation.
It's because we have the mindset that so called 'alpha' masculinity is about raw muscle power, testosterone etc where it's discussed that it may be actually more about taking huge responsibility and being a person people rely too. In terms of resiliency I think it's about understanding the polarity of life. That day turns to night, things can be rough or smooth, black or white. Acceptance of the unfolding of life and not trying to strategise to mitigate what you think might potentially happen. Embrace the idea something will come but that you expect it to and that you will not be frustrated by it. Understand that experiences are just experiences. They're not good or bad based on how you frame them. I would say most experience leads to change. If fate has decided it's written in your story you will face it. Don't be mad at what you perceive as difficult. It's just part of the process. Don't be mad at people for playing out their human nature. It should be this way, it should be that way. I wish people were more like this. They're not so stop idealising life because that's creating a vacuum which is making you unhappy. As humans we want to understand everything to compart mentalise it and build strategies. However somethings aren't to be understood. It just is. We shouldn't try and reconcile everything. Just let things be and maintain a sense of mature acceptance.

Perhaps alpha and masculine are two separate things. One of the interesting things is that women find tall men with broad shoulders more attractive than short men. And that seems to be dissociated from an alpha who's not necessarily the largest male. Something to consider.
Not me, at least not anymore. My partner is 5'7, but incredibly sharp and well-respected where we live. I chose him for his energy, not his size.

He's making a false dichotomy. Physical size and strength are absolutely masculine traits. I really like him but what he says sounds like coping because he's small.
If he's with his girlfriend and some other bigger and stronger guy harasses her and he can do nothing about it how exactly is he masculine then? Who are you going to call to help you? No being physically strong isn't everything, but it's still a significant portion.
If two guys have equal money and power but one is 6'2" 220lbs of muscle and can fight but the other is 5'5" 125lbs and weak is he really gonna say they're equal in their masculinity? Nonsense. Being able to protect is a masculine trait.
That being said yes I think you could make the argument you can be alpha and not masculine, you can just have a lot of money from birth. Although I'd say there's a lot of overlap USUALLY.
There are physical masculine traits and behavioural masculine traits, and even that is likely oversimplifying.
I don't think there are hard and fast rules, just statistical tenancies.

Great discussion. I agree with the idea that we are predictable as a species and behave in cycles. Once an affected generation is old enough to forget or become complacent, history is many times lost yet repeated.

Awesome interview. I feel like I can listen to kk all day. He is very smart but in a very down to earth way. I love listening to Dr. Peterson but due to my lack of education some times it’s very difficult to follow or fully understand what he is saying. I never feel that way about KK. It’s almost like he can make the same point as a Dr. Peterson but it terms everyone can understand no matter your education level.
I’ve had years of “higher” education. At times, I find it difficult to follow and understand Dr. Peterson, too. Sometimes, Dr Peterson is on a level that’s all his own.
I agree that Konstatin Kisin is an intelligent, articulate guy who can take difficult subject matter and make it understandable for regular people.

I also agree Dr. P sometimes feels like he is the most smartest person on earth. I will say this though, the thing I’m most impressed with about these two guys are their ability to stay calm and debate intellectually even when they are being attacked personally. Even when the other person is disingenuous and trying to put words in their mouths. My favorite moment of Dr.P was an interview with a feminist woman when she asked him about upsetting people and his response was that’s not my intention but what’s wrong with that? You certainly don’t have any problem upsetting me in this interview. For a moment she was speechless and then said I’m trying to work that out and he said aw ha I got you and she said yes you got me. He was intelligent calm and won over the entire audience. She got roasted in the comments and everyone praised him.

Konstantin is such a pleasure to listen to. His ideas are uncomfortable to consider - especially the one about us not willing to kill innocent people, hence not being able to win another war - true and very uncomfortable to think about. Great conversation Gents.

While I would generally agree with Konstantin on his views of masculinity, I will say that working out isn't really about power, but about building confidence and self-esteem through discipline and working though your own limitations.
And a general respect for creating condition for life to thrive.

I really love what Tom said about Sam. Not only do I actually have a very similar view as Sam, when it comes to existential threat and the man Who is a self proclaimed genius and has a four letter name, but it’s refreshing to hear somebody that possibly disagrees with my point of view , Sam’s point of view, to ask the question “what do we do when when nobody agrees on whether a threat is existential or not”. The fact is from my point of view there is an existential threat and if I’m going to get canceled for saying this, then I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with the situation even if I’m wrong.

Man, I used to really like listening to toms interviews, but idk if i can listen anymore. It seems all he does now is talk over them just when they're making a good point. I tried listening to his interview with Ray Dalio yesterday, but i had to stop halfway through and find a different interview of him. Just when I'd be leaning in to an interesting point Ray was making, Tom would interrupt. His interjection is always prefaced with "just so everyone understands". Dude, were not stupid. Those with nuclear dominance impose the ban on the rest of the world. Big difference. We've never stopped everyone from obtaining a "get it and I win" technology.
100%. That anyone would think a sentient being eminently more intelligent than us would willingly serve us is mind boggling. AI is a grave threat and should have been forbidden from the first moment. Alas, the cat is out of the bag.
I've never understood what people are scared off saying what they think - in the Western world. It baffles me. Maybe it's obvious to people who grew up in socialism, or in my case having my entire family coming from socialist countries... but I don't understand why so many people do not speak up. It is not that hard. Has it put me in uncomfortable positions? Sure, especially at work I get reguarly scolded or attacked for expressing my VERY negative views on topics like DEI etc. So what? I don't have to fear for my life like I would in other countries... if I get fired I'll just get a new job. Like what is the risk? None of us are getting out of this alive. We are all just mere mortals. But If everyone just spoke up instead of cowering and fearing the "oh but what will xyz think", we wouldn't be having all these ridiculous conversations.
Because as it turns out, most of the time when you get to know someone and they actually start to trust you and open up, it turns out they are pretty decent and normal people... most of us are. But somehow many of us believe they are in the absolute minority. We are not. The absolute majority of people in every country and every political or economic system are decent and good people.
And this is the real tragedy. It turns out, to destroy and overthrow things you don't need the majority. This is what defectors from socialist countries have always said. This is what we know from historians, psychologists, secret agents etc... you don't need many people to do these things. All you need is a minority that is loud and committed to "the cause". Whatever that cause may be. And the second requirement is for the majority to remain silent. And this is what we are seeing today.
The vast majority of people in the West do know what a man and a woman is. We do know that hormone blockers for children are cruel. We do know that DEI is nothing but racism and sexism. We do know that affirmative action is the same. We do know that mass illegal immigration from certain regions in the world does not benefit us in any way. We know all these things... but they are still happening because most people are too scared or whatever to even do their tiny little part and SPEAK UP.
It is not hard people. Just get up and DO IT.
