That discussion on music was really cool to listen to. I do think it's a little weird that people feel a song is "theirs" forever if they use it in a part. The song is a piece of art in and of itself so I think Rog's point about movies is somewhat valid. I feel like there are some parallels to the discussion of music artists copying or sampling other artist's music.

Shoutout to FrenchFred for using Zappa’s Camarillo Brillo for Lucas Puig’s ending section in Cliche Bon Appetite... there’s probably more Zappa usage but these 2 stick out

Both sides of the argument are correct. If the song is monumental, it’s not a good idea to skate to it because it makes you look less creative, which just takes away from the skating. That being said, the skaters don’t own the song, the artists do. I’ve seen a lot of the same songs used in skate vids and in snowboarding vids, but the audience doesn’t have as much overlap, so nobody really cares. Also, nowadays, full lengths are way more rare, so people just put out single parts. Just cuz somebody uses it for some random part doesn’t mean anyone else can’t use it. Don’t skate to famous songs like “love child” and you’re good, imo

Beautiful rail but definitely pro level stuff on that one.
