The sad part for Jah is that at 13 minutes he talks about how much thought goes into things. His version on "the hardest tricks last" is wild to comprehend as most of his video parts are absolute bangers. Every trick is huge. You can also tell its done that way because he may not say it, but he wants skater of the year. After him not getting it when he dropped need that and shine on in the same year I felt like he will never get it. Love or hate him he is the tony hawk of street skating.
Crazy, I havent been following skating media for years and I would have Guessed nyjah would have 1 for sure. Definetly deserves it with a sick part and all the contest skating on top of that.
Nyjah has been doing it at such a high level for so long it’s crazy to realize he’s 29 FREAKING YEARS OLD. He’s still in his athletic prime right now. He’s got so many good years left.
Crazy right?? I remember being like 10 and he was 11 skating the craziest spots and running in games with he dreads dragging the ground. Nyjah has been my skating idol for many years. So glad he's still going all these years later.
Nyjah is a really cool dude. I love watching anything he puts out, and I really like that even though he is very likely the best street skater ever, he is humble as well. I haven't skated in 10 years, and turned 40 some months back. I could only watch so many Nyjah videos before it lit the fire again, and I am so glad it did. Although I am beyond rusty, and can barely kickflip or anything after that long of a break, I can feel it will come back with practice. It's literally what has been missing in my life. I don't even need to be amazing at it anymore, but just having skating as something to work on and gain progress in feels great to have again.
I came back to it at 48 after 18 years away. I don’t try and flip the board at all anymore and shifted towards transition. Above all else, I’m just thankful to still be able to skate. In many ways I’m a ‘better skater’, even though I’m not as good. I absolutely love it. Now I’ve just gotta get through the next six months of rehabilitation for torn shoulder ligaments 😂
Really cool interview. While not much of a skater, I was a cameraman at Vision back in the Olden Days ('1987-90). I had the great luck of watching Tony's first 9 at the X-Games live, from 20 feet away, and also shooting footage at an Etnies GvR where Nyjah showed up as a kid, and even Dave Duncan was calling him "Little Dreadlock Kid," when no one knew who he was. Nyjah ollied the stair sets there (Lake Forest), blowing everyone's minds. I was in lurktogrpaher mode both of those times. Been watching you guys for many years now as a fan. Really cool to hear you guys go deep on the details of skating at such a high level.
Loved this. Arguably the best vert skater and street skater of all time just hanging out and talking skating. No disrespect to Ellis, he holds his own. The amount of mutual respect for eachothers craft is great too.
The in-depth skate talk was legit the best segment in a while. So much love for each others skill set and the conversation just flowed so effortlessly 👍
Even with one of the greatest street skaters to ever ride, as a guest... The chemistry between Tony and Ellis steals the show. Great episode, Nyjah is definitely a goat.
Over here weve never heard that term ( the people I skate with at least ) we just said ankle and now its ankle thing kinda taken from the parkour community since a lot of us also do that.
I’m 32 years old, had to quit unfortunately in my early 20s due to injuries, and not having health insurance. But last year during the holidays. I had made a decision to get back into Skateboarding, after getting health insurance, and now having adult money. I work for myself, and control my own schedule as a Photographer and Cinematographer. So for me seeing so many skaters who made it like Tony Hawk, and especially Nyjah all talk about Skating and doing it as they get older. What they’re doing to stay healthy and keeping in shape. Like with Neen Williams doing his fitness routines. It’s awesome seeing skaters I admired talk freely about things they’ve dealt with. Sometimes we as Skate fans, think they are just not human with some of the things they’ve been able to accomplish and overcome. It’s great to see them talk about their mindset, and show their passion for the sport and art of Skateboarding. For me I miss throwing myself down gaps, ledges, and hitting hubbas. I wanna know what it feels like again, Nyjah last few parts certain got me hyped to get back on a board. Also seeing Antwuan Dixon back on his board got me super hyped as well. This was a great podcast overall. I do wish they asked Nyjah if he would ever grow back the dreads, or if he missed them. He had some of the sickest dreads ever, alongside with Adelmo Jr. Edit: Thanks for all the kind words y’all. I’m certainly going to begin my Skateboarding restart this summer, after 10 years of not skateboarding.
Half cab body varial to frontside hurricane to fakie is almost incomprehensible to picture in the mind’s eye. Nyjah is a precession instrument of skateboarding, and it’s great the conversation stayed on that topic. Laughs abound as per usual. Haha 😆. Thank you.
Watched this a couple of months ago and loved how cool and humble he was although even the best seem to get humbled in front of Tony. But then just watched him stamp it down at the X Games. Twice. He is still the best their seems to be no stopping him. He truly is a phenomenon.
This was such a banger on so many levels. You have Hawk who was part of that extreme sports era and created tricks and was such a good quarter pipe rider. Then you have Jah who is pushing the sport further and further just like Hawk, but on the street side. Then you have Ellis who was a good skater but never was a true comp skater. But his entire life evolved around skating and extreme sports. So seeing them all talk and respect each other is cool. They also have a real flow to it. I could watch hours of this
NH's commentary is most useful in any human application. Dude doesn't even need the mother -f-in gnarliest skater title. He had guidance and structure growing up, and he's doing the math on it all - love at his age and skill level. NH is so rad and a massive contribution to the sk8 community. Always. Peace and thank you, TH/JE/NH. So much love.
Tony! Dude you called out what I've been thinking for years. Everyone hops off their board when they get to the quarter pipes. What the ef. Its a line, the whole point is to not get off your board lol.
I love seeing the breakdown of vert to Street trick names. I'm totally clueless. I played Tony's games a lot as a young lad and I was a shit skateboarder. I love hearing all this jargon

I really respect Nyjah for pushing the sport to new limits. The stuff he was doing in the early Street League was amazing and revolutionary, then he goes and does similar gnarly shit in the streets. Such a goat
The landing tricks in practice is not a myth Kelly Hart has said on the 9 Club that they watch practices to get a base line of what the skaters are capable of.
I used to skate at vans Milpitas all the time. Had a membership for a handful of years and that full vert was MASSIVE! I saw so many people wheeled out by EMS many times from bailing it.

"Let's get in the weeds here! Let's go!" Hahah
Wolf is ready
I come here every week to get in the weeds! Love hearing from Nijah! Amazing to watch his career!! True legend !
We’ve been using the term “Hot Pocket” since the mid to late 90’s. It’s amazing how before the internet, things like that became so ubiquitous
We all read the same magazines
"ubiquitous" look at the big brain on Brad
Over here weve never heard that term ( the people I skate with at least ) we just said ankle and now its ankle thing kinda taken from the parkour community since a lot of us also do that.
The “what?” Tony gives when he hears huston hasn’t broken a bone other than his finger is hilarious 😂
It was Jason but yea literally
Lol
Yet….
He knows what’s he can do, he perfects it and executes it! 🔥🔥
That wasn’t Tony it was the other host only thing Tony said was wow
26:55 Im glad Tony mentioned that i noticed that too and appreciate that about The Jah
So cool Nyjah geek out over Tony and Jason's stories and skate talk. He skating and it truly shows. Dude is so awesome

Tbh I’d just do whatever doesn’t hurt and rehab good. Like my foam roller invention. The joints and back wear out super bad

Also Tony's 900 Indy that make people pumped up at X-Games in '99. My god!
Interrogating Tony about the 900. THAT'S THE KIND OF CONTENT I DO LIKE
It only came about because Tony and Jason couldn’t keep the conversation with Nyjah on point.
