One of the best thrash bands of all time. I’ve always loved how they’ve never buried the bass in their mix because D.D Verni is as good as a bassist as you’ll get.
Interesting take. I see where you're coming from but out of the 80's thrash, I feel they kept to their roots while managing to evolve. One thing Bobby said in an interview, they tend to make a trilogy of albums with a similar feel, then explore new themes. They are so prolific it's almost impossible for every album to be a ten, but they come damn close. As said above, Ironbound and Wings of War are excellent. BTW, just saw them two months ago at the Sherman Theater. 60 years old, two hour set, and no breaks. The old sounds just as good. An overlooked track by them is Endless War.
Overkill still kicks ass and they are awesome live!But you got it right there,the older stuff from Years of Decay or Horrorscope are in a different League!!

OverKill was one of only a few 80s Thrash bands that consistently put out albums thru the Grunge Era of the 90s. And they hardly ever swayed from their own style of East Coast Punk-influenced Thrash. I have their entire catalog and some albums are not as good as others. Some aren't as mixed as well as others. Like some sound muddy. While some sound tinny. But they all sound like OverKill. Their 80s and 90s albums could stand for a good remastering, but I think they are spread across several different labels, and I don't know if they could get the rights to some of them. But that said, despite going thru several different eras of lineups, they've gradually gotten better. For example, they had the original line up which lasted thru the 89 album, sans a drummer change. Then they had the early 90s lineup which started in 91 and ran thru 95, then the late 90s lineup with ran until 2000, but then they've had the same guitarists since 2001. And that's kinda crazy when you think about it. But they've had 6 drummers throughout their career. Which seems to be typical among many bands. Don't know what it is with drummers. They only tend to stick around for a few albums before moving on. And when I talk about lineups I never include the prelimary members they have before releasing their debut albums. They might as well don't count. Because you're still just in your forming up in those early days looking for the best people, ya know? But anyway... yeah, OverKill is one crazy band from Jersey.

Overkill still charts in the top 200 these days, so thrash metal is still alive & well.
TOP 3 favourite bands of all time 1. Megadeth 2. ACDC 3. Overkill the order is always changing but no other band gets in there for me. I think its because those 3 bands are fair dinkum/no bullshit, just hard working, good, honest, no BS bands

Yes a very very underrated band that never sold out they're still thrashed to this day unlike Metallica who I love but with load and reload where they cut their hair or makeup and for some reason we're touching their tongues together then they realize they had to go back to what they were overkilled always stay solid and true should have been as big or bigger than Metallica as far as I'm concerned

I also got into them late around this album in 2012. It's when I saw them live that I got truly hooked. Really really good sound. I've seen dozens of metal shows and Overkill is something else. For example, much better than dark tranquillity or children of bodom which I thought had a disappointing sound each of the multiple times I saw them. It's not up to Motorhead but very close.
Bobby has so much energy. He voice remains the same/didn't aged at all. All kudos to the rest of the band.
