I don't think they're corny as much as they just don't take it as seriously as the other members of the big 4. They have a sense of humor and the main focus of their music is fun, and that's a big reason why I love them.
“Medusa” is a must for y’all It’s more mid tempo which I think will serve you guys well with Anthrax That riff is killer and the way Joey sings over the verses is such a hook!
Even as an old metal head who loves early era Anthrax, I can understand it’s not for everyone. However, the ‘modern’ era since Joey’s return is more refined while still kicking ass. Even his vocals are better. I recommend In the End or Monster at the End for the lads next.

This album and WORSHIP MUSIC for me are the best options considering your taste in music. Should check MEDUSA too I get why people suggested songs from Among the Living but I already knew you were not gonna like those songs
Speaking of Testament… I think the whole Metal community would agree that you can’t sleep on ‘Electric Crown’. Such a good straight groove to bob your head to and catchy vocal patterns with really good guitar work. One of their more tame but I think best songs. Top 3 for me 🤘🏽
They have a lot of great classics but honestly For all kings is their most recent album and EXTREMELY underrated, id give anything to have that album get some recognition
How you guys have never checked out I'm The Man or Bring The Noise (their collaboration with Public Enemy) is beyond me. To me, one of the reasons Anthrax cemented themselves as one of the larger metal bands in the early days was their willingness to embrace rap in addition to their metal chops. Knowing your background and the fact that you were primarily into the rap scene before your channel, I think you could appreciate and would enjoy their forays into rap long before Limp Bizkit, Korn, et al.

Anthrax's last 2 albums (Worship Music and For All Kings) feature the band at their most polished. Joey's vocals have never been better, and these albums feature some of their catchiest riffs and most melodic songs. This is so entertaining! Being a fan of your channel for the last few years and watching you guys get into metal! Being 54 years old and metal fans since the age of 13, I went through all the genres and growths of all the bands you’re listening to! So it’s cool to hear you say about anthrax How they would stay in this groove at this time and whatever… But they grew as a band with Joey is a singer first and then John midyear and then Joey coming back… They stay true to being the clean and sober, fun, loving, skateboarding, comic book, reading metal fans Who just started the band… So when I was growing up, these guys were my favorite because they weren’t doing drugs and partying all the time they just like to skate and comics… And then in 2010, they put out worship music which restored faith in the band for me so listen to Lone Justice off of Spreading the Disease and then listen to. You guys should checkout Buckethead. Soothsayer (best live version) lyrics are not necessary for his unique talent and soul are poured out through the electric guitar!
"In the End" from the album Worship Music is one of my favorite Anthrax songs. I feel like when Joey Belladonna came back his vocals improved a lot. And that song specifically is about the passing of Ronnie James Dio and Dimebag Darrell, so I think you'd love the lyrics too.
Scott Ian is considered one of the greatest riff masters ever. Some of his best are actually in SOD even though the band is more of a parody rock band.
George took the words right out of my mouth. When he wondered if the pre-chorus sounded that way because Anthrax was staying true to thrash, I was saying to myself, that part is just old-school thrash pure and simple
Great review! Per your comments in the beginning, you guys probably find it familiar because it was literally a song on the rock/metal radio station in GTA: Vice City. You guys definitely covered the song Indians before. The song "Among the Living" is awesome, so is "Belly of the Beast" and definitely "In My World." If you like slower grooves that last one is the song for you.
To put into perspective, 'Madhouse' by Anthrax was also the first music video by a thrash metal band in 1985 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus... had no music videos at that point)... This was Anthrax's 2nd album 'Spreading the disease'... and Joe Belladonna (lead vocals) had only done an EP ('Armed and dangerous') before he replaced the original lead singer Neil Turbin (who was fired in 1984 after the first Anthrax album 'Fistful of Metal')... Now, Belladonna was not a fan of thrash metal when he joined (He was big fan of Journey... Whitesnake), but he had a great vocal range and Anthrax wanted a real lead singer instead of a typical thrash metal vocalist... But it took a while for Belladonna to get used to the speed & intensity of Anthrax's music. Rhythm guitarist Scott Ian took time to write a new album of punk rock-influenced thrash metal and recorded it w/ Billy Milano (vocals)... former Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker... and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante... It was released in '85 under the name S.O.D. (Stormtroopers of Death) and the album 'Speak English or die'... That record was essential in bringing a 'crossover' scene between punk rock and thrash metal. Anthrax were signed to major label Island Record in '85 and they released 'Spreading the disease' which actually charted in the US top 200 and sold close to a half million copies... Anthrax generated a strong fanbase w/ that album and the S.O.D. record, and the next album 'Among the Living' in 1987 would sell gold (over half million copies) in the USA and establish Anthrax as one of the 'Big 4' of thrash metal 🤘🤘
First time I ever heard this song was on Guitar Hero 2...one of the most fun songs to play in my opinion. I'm also not a huge Anthrax fan, but this is one of my favorite thrash songs ever.
Anthrax was never a favorite for me. But Spreading the Disease is my all time favorite album of Anthrax. Heaviest album, and to me, a great place to start with anthrax.
Be All End All, I Am The Law, Belly Of The Beast, Caught In A Mosh, Hy Pro Glo, Got The Time, Crush, What Doesn't Die, Antisocial, Fight Em Till You Can't. All amazing songs to check out.
I think what you were trying to say, Ryan, was that Anthrax had the talent to go commercial but chose not to. I agree 100% and that’s what makes them endearing. 🤣Anthrax is like riding in a car on the highway doing 90 with a bad alignment . Every now and again? You’ll hit that bump that keeps it straight on the road. This banger is that.
Growing up when Anthrax and the other 3 of The Big Four were blazing trails and starting the building of their legacies, these 2 Don't understand how groundbreaking they were. At the time There was nothing like them
Love old Anthrax. Among the Living, NFL, Indians. So many that hit.
They did Indians and didn't like it, and were talking during the war dance shout 😑
They sounded best to me on Worship Music, I like the guitar work on it. Its by far my favorite album but ive never heard their classics
N.F.L. is sooooo amazing. one of the first and hardest trash songs I learned on guitar when I delved into thrash decades ago. Still one of my tops!
I think they hated dudes voice most. But yeah, they talk a lot when they don't immediately get into a song
Yep. Seen em couple times back then. Decent band. Watch Chili On Hell 🔥
Their version of Got the Time is killer
There best song in my opinion, the whole persistence of time record was killer

Anhillator are big players in this genre, good sirs. The track "Sixes And Sevens" is circuit- frying riff genius. Thanks for your great insights!
Wicked Mystic is my favourite. One of the best thrash songs ever.
This song has a great video that fits the music perfectly. I like to dance like the crazies in the video when I see them live, so much fun :D
Seen Anthrax several times. Just pure fun at their shows.
Old school Scott.....Danny the lead guitar player was a founding member of a band called Overkill.....then he went to the Thrax 😊
