    Dimensional Corridor is not for units that arrive with deepstrike, it is units that are moved with the Monoliths Ability from the battlefield, so you don't need deepstrike on the unit using this strat.
    So we can have the Deepstrike enhancement on Heavy Lokust Destroyers and still pull Skorpek Destroyers or Wraiths over who do not have Deepstrike and use the Strat to charge as it is the Monoliths ability that prevents the charge.

    Definitely tempted to try this, but it'll mean buying some deathmarks and a monolith. One thing, you don't need units to be in reserve to use the monolith's eternity gate. It can just grab units from elsewhere on the battlefield, so if you find units like your big warrior block have been left out of position you can move them to the monolith without using up a hyperphase slot.

    I'm going to say right now that this is possibly my favorite detachment out of the four 10e codices we've gotten. I liked Necrons back when they were Oldcrons, and a single Penetrating Hit could kill the Monolth. It's been one if my favorite models since then, and while I griped when Newcrons became "Tomb Kings in SPACE!!!", they've grown on me more, as time has passed. Orherwise, movement shenanigans! There are few things I like more than movement shenanigans, and that's what this does. That it can do it with really a wide variety of things, in their list, and not just one type, or a keyword, is awesome, and I really like the feel of this. While I monetarily know better, if there was a detachment that might make me spend money, to assemble a faction force that I don't already have, this might be it! I'm sure it can have shortcomings; balance demands it, but I really like most of what it brings, and how applicable it can be to a majority of the range it is for. I wonder if anyone actually will paint their Necrons gold, to sell the dynasty theme these are spiritually representing?

    What i think is a pretty good strat is a 10man unit of immortals with a chronomancer using the 3" strat to teleport them into the opponent home objective and stealing it with the fire and fade movement.if they make the mistake to shoot them on their turn just pop them back to the monolith with the 2 cp strat.i generally believe the storm lord has a place in this detachment as you can probalby score both secondaries each turn so you wont be gaining cp.

      In the last balance dataslate, they made it so rules that change the CP cost of a stratagem only work on Battle Tactic stratagems unless they specify otherwise. It's a pretty clunky rule and one that's easy to miss, but it means that you can't use My Will Be Done on overwatch since it's a Strategic Ploy, not a Battle Tactic.
      I believe that they haven't fixed the rules conflict with the Hexmark Destroyer yet. I think that pretty much everyone agrees that it does let you use overwatch twice in one phase though, since it literally says that you can, and I don't see any reason why you couldn't use both overwatches against the same move.

    • @iankirkland8245
      @iankirkland8245 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First before you start 40k, research/talk to other players. Local players if possible. Be aware of how complicated the game can be, how much it will cost to collect a full army (3+k points to have options), how often the rules change, how long it takes to play larger games, and how much work it will be to build/paint your army. I am not trying to dissuade, as I get a lot of enjoyment from the game but I always want new players to be informed.
      Second due to above give a good bit of thought to your first couple factions. Aesthetic and enjoying hobby ing with them is very important. If that’s necrons for you great. Cool faction with a lot of centrepiece models, unit choice, and model diversity.
      Third, consider saving up for a larger buy in. Often you can pick up a significant number of models on good discount from other people either local or eBay who are looking to offload one of their armies. You will not get unit choice, and it will likely be indomitous unit (last edition starter set) heavy, but down the road this option will be less and less appealing due to already having too much of the offered models.

    If the units are placed specifically into strategic reserves and not reserves ie. deepstrike etc how would deepstrike benefit them? They are not placed into deepstrike at the end of the turn but specifically into strategic reserves. Am i missing something?

    • @robparfrey642
      @robparfrey642 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Strat reserves requires all models to be place wholey within 6 inches of a table edges other than the opponants deployment area. Anything with deepstrike however gets put into reserves with the ability of deepstrike. Just like they would if you had them in reserves from the start of the game.
      These units are able to deepstrike in anywhere on the board more than 9 inches horizontally away from opposing models.

    • @christianvikstrom2080
      @christianvikstrom2080 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But there is a difference between the two. Reserves are the umbrella that encompasses all the abilities that lets you deploy on the table during the game. Strategic reserves, deepstrike etc are all unique ways to enter reserves. Deepstrike as an ability lets you enter reserves during the declare battle formations instead of deploying with the limitations and requirements of the deepstrike rule. All units can enter reserves through strategic reserves in the same way you enter deepstrike with its own limitations and requirements. All these different ways to enter reserves have their own rules and regulations on how they deploy etc.
      The Detachment rule lets you place X units into STRATEGIC RESERVES.
      It does not let you enter RESERVES through whatever means you want ie. strategic/deepstrike etc. It specefies which one you get placed into.
      Had the rule instead said "Place X units into reserves" you could then choose whichever way of entering reserves was viable ie strategic/deepstrike etc.

      Page 16 of the rulebook in regards to reinforcements:
      "Details of how to set up Reserves units are described in the
      same rules that enabled the unit to be set up in Reserves."
      The rule that in this case enables them to enter reserves is the strategic reserves rule and not the deepstrike rule.

      this is a difference between rules as written versus rules as intended. it seems obvious that they intended for deep striking units to be able to deep strike back in after using the detachment rule, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to make a whole enhancement literally only be providing deep strike. Will likely be FAQ'd soon

    I've had better luck running this detachment without a monolith. Having two transcendant c'tan and the nightbringer supported by a solid core of immortals and warriors with cryptek support seems surprisingly effective and allowed me to use the hyperphasing to get my heavy hitters where I wanted them early game, and my infantry onto objectives in mid and late game. Running a monolith leaves you with fewer units to play with and narrows your options considerably.

It's exactly how i see lore accurate necron invasion : Monoliths coming from the sky, necrons spawning from nowere as a legion, this one and cryptek detachment saves the codex

    This detachment and the monoliths feel so overrated. You need at least 2 monoliths to even be able to rely on them for most of a game, and any player worth their salt will be able to screen you out. Without higher firepower to punch holes into your opponents lines and/or more tanginess on a monolith I can see this detachment being subpar after the hype dies down

      @chaserandalow8548 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      most are more upset that the faction has shifted so dramatically from what it was before, even if it's still good (which we won't know for certain until the real points come out but I'm hopeful). The "classic" playstyle of necrons to have large bricks of tough warriors forming the main approach seems almost entirely dead, and the lychgard bricks people enjoyed (which were broken as a skill/stat check and DID need some nerfs) feels so gutted after it's multiple nerfs. The army has gotten a lot more playstyles to work with that are good (well, mostly just canoptek court and hypercrypt tbh), but it came at the cost of executing the previous playstyle rather than nerfing it down a tad. Now people who had plenty of warriors feel like they have to shelf most of them and instead start shelling out a couple hundred bucks to get wraiths (who are now the faster and harder hitting successor to lychgard)

    • @ryancooper3629

      This isn't very strong, it may have won the odd casual batrep, but mark my words, it won't be meta competitive. Its cheeky and can punch up in the hands of a really skilled player, but at the end of the day you are still teleporting around weak units and the whole allegiance is hard countered by 12" deep strike denies and good positioning.
