    Hey guys, as pointed out, we missed some wording on the Dimensional Corridor stratagem. It can't be used on a Monolith that didn't start on the board that turn. So no Deepstriking the Monolith in that turn then bringing something to it for 2cp as Mike mentioned, it MUST start on the board.

    I would just like to thank this channel for the very short sponsor ads. I've noticed a lot of creators now like to spend 5-10 minutes on their sponsor ads and they are punished by me by skipping the ad and refusing to have anything to do with the sponsor. So very short sponsors is greatly appreciated.

      It works because I never skip it. Honestly, I remember very little about the sponsors for other channels (or even who they are!). With you guys, I can list the sponsors no problem and, like this commenter, I have a positive experience with them coz they’ve not broken the flow of the video.

    12:35 I think the monolith has to be on the battlefield on the start of the turn to be eligible for this stratagem. So you cannot deep strike the monolith, teleport units to it, and then charge

    • @VanguardTactics
      @VanguardTactics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey, the stratagem is used in the charge phase so the monolith has no restriction for when it has come down, it just targets a unit which has been set up using the Monoliths ability and that is done in the reinforcement step so can be done in conjunction

  • @4starTitan

    As far as i understand, the strategem to charge out of the monolith requires the monolith to have been on the board since the start of the turn.
    So you cannot deepstrike the monolith and immediately have a unit charge out of it

  • @PaintCelestine
    @PaintCelestine 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Quick addendum. Ctan can't have enhancements.
    Also, I feel we aren't factoring in the size of the monolith when we talk about it deep striking. You aren't getting it in the enemies backfield until later game, as its huge.

    • @memnarch129

      Remember that this detachment has the "drop within 3 inches" strat. While you cant assault off that who cares the Monoliths point is to A) Be a gateway/getaway for other units and B) shot the every loving shit out of things. Drop Mono in back line, say about 5 or 6 inches out, use Gate to pull unit of say 10 Immotals with Blasters and a Plasmancer through, Use Immortals to royal obliterate any unit sitting on a objective, with either 5 up lethal hits or rerolling wounds, and the Mono lays into any heavy armor or tanks.

    I agree that Imotek is a key part of the detachment build. Honestly I could just see running him solo and having him babysit the objective. Idk if I’d run lychguard, but something id seriously consider is sma skorpekh lord w 6 friends as a hammer unit.
    Also I’d take a look at the doom scythe with this detachment. You can redeploy it wherever you need it to be, take advantage of direct LOS shooting, could hit it with a 4++ in a pinch, and you just pick it up each turn so you arent having to deal with the janky flying rules.

    I actually don't think you need a Monolith in this detachment. Sure, it will lock you out from three and a half stratagems, but only one of those is a reason to take a Monolith (the charging one).

Yes but taking 2 of them and Wraiths and Ophydians wont really work that well. It more wants units like Lokhust Destroyers, Tomb Blades, Immortals with a Plasmancer. The GK verions issue was that it just didnt have the shooty units to REALLY capatalize on it. Sorry, but there are so many mistakes and flaws in this video.
    You guys are meant to be professionals!
    1. Crypteks can’t lead lychguard anymore.
    2. No Imotekh is bad leading Lychguard. He will just die with them.
    3. Ophydians do not offer anything to this detachment.
    4. The transcendent c‘tan has no extra benefit in this detachment. The nightbringer is harder to screen for the enemy. And the voiddragon has better shooting after a potential teleport.
    5. The hazardous wounds stratagem only works for attacks made against the monolith f.e.. What units is it actually worth using against? Almost none in the game.
    6. Healing in reserve is nice but not „really good“, because a good player just kills the stuff.
    This was lazy made guys!

      Nope, they're fine. You're being a hyper-critical troll.

      Lothrean absolutely right that Crypteks can’t lead Lychguard any longer that may have been a mistake from the index as they once could, however the other points you made are your opinion and you are in your right to have those. Please feel free to run the units in anyway you wish to help you achieve the most from your army. We feel that above units have play in this detachment and based on the playstyle of the players in the video. We welcome healthy debate as it’s a chance to learn from each other. However saying that this was lazy I don’t think is appropriate as I know how hard the team worked on this project. Stephen.

      @@VanguardTactics But 2 years ago the content was much deeper. I even remember your analysis of the 8th edition harlequin codex in the context of 9th edition. It was just a short thing as part of a battle report and still it had so much insight. Or the little interview you guys did with Matt Chinn after he won a GT with a very aggressiv necron list.
      Nowadays you often times are just barely touching the surface, not even thinking about actually practical use cases, even misleading players into suboptimal choices.
      F.e. Ophydians: They are obviously only worth the points if you make use of their teleport ability. Without that ability you wouldn’t even think about picking them into your army list.
      However you don’t make any use of that ability in the hyperphase legion, practically deleting it from the datasheet, while still paying the premium for it.
      This is objectively a suboptimal choice, and still it got recommended in the video.

      @@Lothreanslight disagreement on the Ophydian Destoryers being bad in this detachment
      Yes their rule is basically this detachments rule, but It does still allow you to pick an additional unit and put it into reserves.
      Since you can also repair them in reserves as well with the strat, they can skirmish, then shake off chip damage and skirmish/mission play again.
      I do feel this video feels aimed at the slightly more casual players who might go to an RTT every now and then. I personally wouldn't shove Imotek into the front lines when he is there to generate CP. Especially since Lychguard are considerably less tanky now.

      @@russman738 No he isnt. Im seeing this problem over and over and over again. Content Creators on youtube whose "Job" it is to produce videos about the game/hobby and to provide insights miss or get wrong things that people who are casually paying attention to the game get right. If its ones "Job" to cover somthing you better get it right, or pretty dang close, and I can count on one hand the number of 40k review channels that dont catch things that a casual glance at the rules would answer.

    I don’t have a monolith 🥲 I really wanted to run this detachment…

      You are in luck! The monolith is crap in this detachment and you don't need it. Taking other stuff for the same points will give you a better result and you can easily ignore the stratagems that use the monolith. All you will care about is spending CP to 3' deepstrike stuff and rapid ingress.

    • @VanguardTactics
      @VanguardTactics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You most definitely don't need a monolith, we just feel they shine the most here with the rules and benefits. This detachment has so many plays and tricks that you can use a lot of units and still have them shine so please do give it a go and see how you find it.
