yes this is just a bit too small and expensive for me , i have the rg350 and 351p and thats perfect
my issue with those is the vertical body. I just never liked that style much tbh. Still want a vertical with a solid 5" screen.

Yet to see a decent portable retro emulation device. At the moment I'll just stick with my modded New 2DS XL which does a fine job at retro emulation as well as the complete DS and 3DS library.
Same with PS Vita, both the vita and 3DS/2DS are great investments right now.
3DS/2DS are godsends for the R4. Love having the whole DS library at my fingertips without paying an arm and a leg for the more demanding price games like Dragon Quest 4-7.

ive found with the ps1 emulation its often down to the roms themselves on this device, ive got even dreamcast to run smoothly on this thing with some minor file tweaks

3:18 "While the N64 and Dreamcast will play on this device, it's going to be very hit and miss". N64 does not run well on this device at all and there is no Dreamcast emulator for OpenDingux
Hard to justify with the cost. But I stil want one!!!! lol It would be an awesome replacement for my bittboy which i still play from time to time...
Nice review agreed they are pumping these kind of things out way too much every couple of months looks great tho but my personal favourite is the RG351p with Arkos installed.

To be fair, this console is probably one of the most innovative that has come out in terms of design. It might not be everyone's cup of tea. But it definitely aims towards the demographic of gamers who appreciated the gameboy micro. The tech inside is certainly up for debate, although for me, i am more than happy to play everything up to ps1 in this form factor. Anything more - you're likely going to be wanting an analog stick. If you are looking for that small form factor with great build quality. I think you would be hard pushed to find much better on the market than the rg280v. This has now replaced my pspgo for emulation. Love it! Grateful for the honest review.

And btw, the Nvidia Shield is still the king of retro gaming. Play all systems from atari to dreamcast without issue, and Redream for Android now supports the Atomiswave conversions 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I hate this saturation of cheap ripoffs and otherwise raping the retro game scene, its just insane how many offerings have come about in the past few years, most just duplicates of the other. It was great at first but now its just giving me the shits as they just cash in with items not produced with any innovation.

This thing looks like it would be an absolute pain to play on for more than 10 minutes. I wonder at what point will they stop being able to make these things smaller. I would love it if they made one that's as bulky as like a game gear.

I totally agree with you, every month there is new, this little device is really compelling but, I already own the ldk portrait mode which i really like but not enough powerful. If I buy this device today , maybe next month, they will release a new one with some improvements and I will feel it bad.
Depending on where you buy it, you can have preinstalled on mine with every émulator bought on alliexpress

Just a nitpick, the video was filmed in a tilted angle so it was a little annoying to watch. I know sometimes it's hard to get the better angle when playing and filming, but for me, I had to turn my neck to the side to watch it properly, it was discomfortable...
You cant have sanwa buttons in a handheld ,and idd small hands aint for this device, i think the rubber feeling is there purposefully to emulate old console feeling .
Is it better than vita/psp? Those 2 are perfect form factors for retro games. I'm guessing not, because vita can play psp games and ps1 games perfectly.
Is there an option for overscan to get rid of the garbage green pixels on the right side of the screen in Mario 3? It seems many emulators do not fix this issue.

I have the 280m, I like it and would love a smaller one, but this thing is all wrong, Gameboy micro would have been a much better design,...and making them more user friendly for mame games.
There are so many of these things and they all seem bad. Someone must be buying them though...

What innovation do you want? There is a limited number of consoles that can be emulated on a handheld device, so the only "innovation" you can get is a new form factor or a new interface, and that's it.
A different, more powerful chip set .... how is that not understood. They recycle the same chips over and over into different shells.

When I enter the emulators and choose an emulator I can no longer see the list of games and select a game that starts. Only folders open and I can't start any games! What have I unintentionally changed, how can I get back to playing?

It's a completely different form factor to all their other devices, that's the innovation. What more do you want? An entirely new library of games from a parallel universe? PS2 support on a palm-sized handheld that has no analogue sticks? The form factor is the innovation. It's a small GameBoy.
