I carried my Launch 5 with me to work last week; I was soing block work. I cleaned my SOG Aegis and my Leatherman Skeletool and was left with the dirty auto. I found this video. It is now clean and functional.l Thank you. I do have several criticisms (I hope that they are constructive.). My stop pin did not come out of its own accord. I had to use pliers. I could not cock the spring with the stop pin in place. I had a very difficult time seeing the spring in any degree of detail on your video. And FWIW, my spring looket totally symmetrical. And it measured out that way with my digital calipers. It might be a little late to make any changes, but I wanted to share how it looked from my side. Thank you again. It kept me from sending it back to Kershaw or having the non-assmbled pieces of a Launch 5.
Thanks for making the video, I have a launch 6 I've carried for a year I blast it with super slick slick stuff micro lube occasionally but thought at some point I may need to disassemble and clean.. So thanks!
Thanks for the video. Was curious as to how much of pain in the ass was going to be if I took it apart. Really wanted to try to convert mine to a manual button lock but that is probably not a good idea considering the spring and complete lack of washers of any kind.
Have you ever had any issues when it came to the button being too stiff and making clicking noises when you press it? Having that issue on my launch 4 and it is brand new (and yes i have contacted Kershaw about this, waiting for them to get back to me).
Do you mean like a gritty, grinding sort of sound / feel? I have a Launch 1 and 8, and they were both like that when new, but they both smoothed out considerably after some use.
The spring went bad on my Launch 4 automatic knife 1.9 inch blade .... Not sure how to do it or get it replaced ??? I bought it from blade HQ about 6 months ago ..... they said it should be under warranty from kershaw and would e mail me the form to fill out from them... but never got it .. Is it hard to do by yourself if you never did this before ??? Iam good with my hands engines, ect ....
Kershaw will replace the spring guaranteed go on to they're website and and fill out a warranty claim or request a new spring if you feel confident. I've never taken apart the launch 4 but I've heard it can be a little tricky. If your mechanical enclined I would bet you would be able to replace it tho.
I cant remember what I was using back then but now I use wiha bits now. Also if you have a menards store near you they have a brand called masterforce and they're torx screwdrivers aren't bad. Are the screws just not wanting to turn?
If you want it to run smooth use lube if you don't really care about it being smooth don't. The only time I wouldn't use blue lube is if it's a knife your going to use for food preparation because blue lube isn't food safe.
Thanks for the instructional video. I will need to do this at some point to clean and lube up my Launches.

Thanks much! Just got a Launch 6 and was wondering what disassembly would be like. Less parts means less points of failure. :)
Awesome video....very handy!!!!! Take care

I've seen button stick but nothing quite that extreme. Try putting some oil where the button touches the handle. That might help it break in a bit.

Your welcome

Great video!
I picked up the launch 7 and having the hardest time trying to take it apart. What bits did you use?
I cant remember what I was using back then but now I use wiha bits now. Also if you have a menards store near you they have a brand called masterforce and they're torx screwdrivers aren't bad. Are the screws just not wanting to turn?
Thanks for the video! Do you have any bit driver and bit recommendations for working on this launch 3?
Troy Cummings I use the husky bits and drivers that you can get for 6 bucks at home Depot. Weha are probably the best ones out there.
Dam brother! This video is Golden. Are the internals to this model the same as Launch 5? Please let me know.
mister smith exactly the same on the launch 5. The launch one is the only one I've come across that's a little bit different.
Thanks for the reply brother. I will take it apart soon. I need to clean and lube it!
Okay brother. I just took my Launch 5 apart, cleaned, lubed and re assembled it. It all went without a hitch. Thanks again!
mister smith no problem man I'm just glad this video helped someone out.
Do you know what size the spring is? Thanks
I have no clue sorry. Do you need a new one because Kershaw will send you one for free f you go on they're site and put in a warranty email.
Snuck this by me somehow.....it's cool tho , I got you!!! Great video!!!
A.C.F. All Caliber Firearms just keeping you on your toes haha.
Use the knives to cut down those curtains
I can't agree with you more they came with the house and the fiance hasn't picked out been ones yet. I hate those damn things.
Ever disassemble a launch 4? I cannot figure the thing out for the life of me…
Joe Gattone I haven't sorry man. I wouldn't think it would be much different but I could be wrong.
I wouldn’t have used red loctite.
It was blue loctite the tube itself is just red.
@@daniel51501984 I was worried for you. 😂
Instructions say never use lube
