Let's Clean Up for the Dog Shows | English Springer Spaniel Hand Strip

  • Luna, an English Springer Spaniel, gets a much needed make over to hopefully get back into her shows. We card through the coat first to pull out all that soft coat, and then strip the longer bits that need shortening. Give her a nice plushy soft face and round out those feet. She will still have a few more visits to rotate that coat to get her perfect, but she's feeling much better after being stuck in the house for a few months.

    I can’t thank you enough for sharing this video, as I am in lockdown and my poor English springer is a mess, and the groomer has never used clippers on him.

      I'm sorry to hear about being in lock down, you're family is in my thoughts during these tough days. If you have questions I will try my best to explain in words. I'm getting through the crazy schedule of the holidays and a hand stripping series will be popping out. 💕

    You make it look so easy lol found out it’s not.
    I’ll keep practicing on him though

      Practice makes perfect! And while it might be easy for me now, it took many hours and plenty of mistakes to get to point where I am now. The nice thing about hair, it usually always grows back. You totally got this! And in the end, you're pup doesn't care what they look like, so long as they get those treats and or cuddles from you 😋👍

      Thank you for your lovely reply and yes I needed that as the poor dog was so patient with me but wow his ears at the bottom still look as though he’s been dragged through a hedge lol 😂 I’m going to attempt how coat with the new clippers as he’s gone a bit curly due to not getting his groom.
      I have such respect well more respect now for dog grooming 👍

      No worries, my sister thought cutting hair was the same on all mammals and insisted I give her a much needed hair cut this holiday. I think she'll stick with the professionals for people from now on 😂
      Just some tips for you, a straight coat cuts cleaner than a curly coat. A clean coat is easier on your tools than a dirty coat. And brushing the hair up and going over the spot 3 times helps smooth out and pick up hideaways. When all else fails, some treats and a walk in a park will settle all nerves involved ☺️

    How come the dog doesn’t have any freckles? I love freckles that’s what make those type of dogs look so adorable

    what tool do you use to do your carding and stripping?

  • @ijosephous

    Did you use 10 blade on the face, ears and neck? Aslo, do you do a top knot like american cockers?

    Beautiful groom! What blade did you use on the ears and face if you don’t mind me asking?

    • @Dognormousllc
      @Dognormousllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not mind at all! I use a 30 with grain on the ears. A lot of show people like doing a 10 in reverse up the ear but I like a more natural blend. But you can choose which style you like the look of best! The face I had it on a 10 and I just run the tip of the blade so she keeps a plush velvety look. Hope that makes sense ☺️

    This coud be an ASMR video, too if the music wasn't so loud. What if that eneded up being the thing that makes this your channel take off? Or maybe a different ASMR channel with thee same videos, but without the music? The visuals go along great for ASMR!

    • @Dognormousllc
      @Dognormousllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is definitely something to think about. I will put it on my plate and really take this into consideration. It would be an easier edit, that's for sure 😄

      @@Dognormousllc I know it's "weird", but ASMR vids are super popular, so it's worth a try! The fact that so many people love dogs and find them comforting, is really what makes this idea a winner for you, along with the fact that your mic does an excellent job of picking up the grooming sounds.

      @@livefullerwithlovefuller8679 thank you so much! I still would like to do grooming tutorial videos, so would you think a second channel would be the smarter route, or just take the music out on these and give it a try?

    Which carding knife do you use?

    • @Dognormousllc
      @Dognormousllc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are the exact knives that I use. I love them! I use both fine and coarse. If you are looking for a little more budget friendly, I started out with the Franklin brand. These will last you for forever, so long as they don't get lost.

      It is asful that you cut of their tails. 😢 so much of their personality, balance and dog to dog communication is in the tail.
