Just recently, I became the proud owner of an 8-yr young ESS. I found your 3 videos very informative and clearly presented so that an inexperienced person such as myself could get a good understanding of how to groom him. I do not plan to show him, but I do want him to look as good as he did when I got him. He really is a beautiful ESS and his coat is just like silk. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for such a practical and detailed videos.
You gave me all the answers I wanted to ask about springer's glooming.
    Fabulous video!

Loved all three videos. I see that by video #3 your dog starts to look like she is struggling to stay awake. My previous springer use to be like that but my current dog who is only 14 months old is more of a challenge. Great job.

I am so intimidated to begin grooming my springer myself, but it is almost impossible to get a real springer cut from regular groomers...so I'd like to learn. Wish you lived nearby to give me a hands on training session! Beautiful job and beautiful dog!

Thank you for making a video on how to groom a Springer. I've been looking for about a year for a good video or so to learn how to groom the Springer I was given for Junior Showmanship, and this really helps!!

Really informative videos. Ariel is such a beauty! And a very patient little lady :-) I really appreciate your way of explaining what you are doing. It's easy to follow. A much better explanation than I received in grooming school.

Lovely calm dog. Informative video even though I'm a newbie groomer myself. Thank you.

I skim the sides of the back legs with a 5F and then use thinning shears to make it all blend. I do the entire leg down to the hock. Younger, intact show Springers don't really grow feathers on the sides of their legs, but older altered ones do, so my goal is to make them look more like they did during their glory days! I do sometimes shave the belly, armpits and insides of the hind legs on my retired dogs to make life easier.

Great video(all 3 of them) Would love to know what thinners are you using. They look awesome to use. If your not a instructor you should be. It's great that you show all different angles of what you are doing. Great job!!

Thank you - I use Kenchii thinners. I have a pair of the 5 Stars and a Lotus. The 5 Stars work just as well as the Lotus and cost less, so I would go with those!

Thank you! You can clip to the natural cowlick running from below the ear down to the shoulder area. Take the cowlick off short, then blend in the hair behind it. Looking at photos can help, you can google essonline magazine and look at lots of pictures of perfectly groomed Springers! Arielle had naturally straight ear hair, but if your dog's hair is curly you can apply a straightening product and blow dry.

Thanks for posting these Springer grooming videos. We don't show our dogs, but I do all of their grooming and try to keep them looking like springers should. Turns out I've been doing most things correct according to your videos. But there's always a few tips to learn, so thanks for posting your process. Pics at pbase.com - slash - mojo7 - slash - dogs

All three of your grooming videos are excellent. Very informative and simple to understand. Thank you! Now I just have to shackle my ESS bitch to the table and groom away :)

+emmettgal - On a male dog (not being shown) I will "shell out" the whole belly and groin area, being careful not to get too close to the edges. This gives the illusion of them having all of their long feathering, but makes maintaining them much easier. However, I never cut the "pee string" off the end of the penis, as it directs the urine down to the ground. If you cut all the hair off the tip of the penis the urine then tends to spray around a lot more.

Can I ask you what tooth thinners do you use? I am thinking of going with the Kenchii set since I am looking at getting a back up set of everything. They sure look like they cut like butter.
