I was at Bathurst for the 12 Hour weekend, saw this car a couple of times on track in the Combined Sedans category, it was BONKERS. The noise of it was fantastic. There were a few cars in that field that were pretty wild actually, the rotary powered Fiat Sport Sedan was very quick, if it wasn't for some mechanical (gearbox) issues that car would have been up the front as well (in the Saturday afternoon race it started dead last and got all the way to 3rd before the gearbox died again - at one point it was lapping FASTER than the Nissan). The Nissan did look to be a bit of a handful across the top though, and the MARC Mustang (which is a legit purpose built race car) was catching it hand over fist down through the esses and into the elbow only to watch it disappear down the road on Conrod. The entire Combined Sedans events were quite the spectacle, a wide range of cars and speeds, really cool to watch.

So all these wipe off 5 ads we get you are actually probably doing 8-10 kmh under the speed limit.
Just from using my phone GPS, I know that my partners Golf does 102 with the speedo dead nuts on 110. Wipe off 5? Fuck that, I set the cruise to 120. We've got a 5 km/h tolerance on speed cameras here in W.A. so those cunts can get fucked.
Some of em read up to 15ks under the limit, Mazda and Toyota are good for this. Most speedos from around 2000 are under, it can be anywhere from 5k to 15k under in anything from the last 22 yrs, I always tell people to check their speedo on gps, all u needs Google maps, I found my 01 shitsibishi challenger was out by 5k my brothers 08 colt is 10k out, parents asx is 10k out. I recently went past a highway speed trap at an indicated 120km/h in the wife's Honda, I thought I was gone for sure and I had no idea why he didn't pull me over. When I got home I pulled up the GPS on my phone and went for another spin, sure enough, at 120km/h indicated on the speedo my actual speed was 108km/h. The speed limit on the section of road where the highway patrol car was sitting was 110, so I was actually 2km/h UNDER.
That add just proves that TAC are a corrupt bunch of dogs. Anyone with an IQ over 20 knows that speed kills is a money theft exercise... yet the real killers like distractions, poor roads and poor driving skill; is totally ignored. Makes me furious.
I've long held the belief that it's far too easy to get your license in Australia. A series of advanced driving courses in adverse conditions should be mandatory, and perhaps even some basic motorsport experience (like Finland does) before you can be allowed to drive on the roads. The lack of skill and awareness of other vehicles on Australian roads is alarming. I'm surprised there isn't more incidents frankly. Australians are TERRIBLE drivers. When I first got my license I joined a car club, and had to pass two different advanced courses and also pass the tests to obtain a CAMS license. Not easy. It was sobering to realise just how bad of a driver I actually was before doing those courses. I competed in lots of time trials and hillclimbs, and a few races as well. I was far from the best, I was lucky to be mid-field. But it definitely made me a better driver on the road - even now that it's nearly 30 years later I still carry those lessons with me and the extra awareness and experience have helped me avoid a few incidents for sure. I've also driven in a bunch of different countries overseas and they are ALL better drivers than Australians. I don't want to reinforce stereotypes either, but by far the worst drivers in Australia are the Queenslanders. It's really true, Queenslanders are borderline dangerous with how careless and incompetent they are on the road. It makes me furious too.
The current NSW road safety campaign is something like "90% of crashes caused by speed occur at no more than 10 km/h over the limit," to which I would contend that those crashes were not caused by speed.
Nothing wrong with the skyline, my guess is someone who paid way too much money for a ex-super car mustang got pissed because they couldn't beat the back yard built skyline so they kept complaining about it until the officials had to say something because the rich kid n millionaire Dad weren't going to leave the official's alone until they did. It's not an ex Supercar, it's a MARC Mustang driven by Geoff Taunton. Geoff would never have complained, he relishes the racing, and he ended up winning when the Nissan crashed. You're talking a load of garbage. Pull you bloody head in mate. Fact is, there is a 2:09 lap time limit for the category, and a 300km/h speed limit for the trap on Conrod, these rules have been in place for YEARS (imposed by the FIA because of Mt Panorama's track rating), and the Nissan broke both of them. It's that simple. Even the GT3 cars running in the 12 Hour aren't allowed to break 300km/h on Conrod, and those cars are running 2:01s and 2:02s. You should try actually learning something about your subject before commenting instead of displaying your spectacular ignorance all over the internet. You're one of the meathead bogans these guys at Fullboost regularly laugh at.
Are you just going to ignore the insurance nightmare that car provides? It was hitting 200 mph down Conrod with a club level roll cage. There's no way the officials aren't going to ban that car in it's current spec.
@@Thee_Snow_Wolf no doubt unless he changes gear ratios which will be more wheelspin and harder to put the power down they will still address the rollcage because of all that safety and other bs they enforce
@@burnsiet Yep. I can't link pictures in the YT comments, but the cage in that car doesn't have A pillar reinforcing bars and the main hoop doesn't even have a full length diagonal. Mini Challenge cars here in the UK have stronger cages than the Skyline. If you're going 200 mph, you need something more akin to a rally cage than a club racing cage.
Ah, no. What they're saying to the Skyline owner is: There are FIA imposed restrictions on this track because of safety issues and you have ignored those rules when everyone else in the field has followed them. There is actually telemetry from the car showing the driver knew what the lap time limit was and wilfully ignored it during the second race. They were also talking about letting the speed limit on Conrod slide, until they saw footage of the car braking at the Chase with one wheel off the ground because the chassis was flexing so much. Your brakes don't work when your wheels are off the ground, so it became a safety issue at that point. The rules exist for good reasons. If you knowingly flout them (which this driver absolutely did) then you should expect to be pinged.
@@woopimagpie I very much doubt 50% have followed the rules 100% because he's supposed to be a back runner it's that fact that he is so much faster than the top guys and now big money big sponsor cars would be asking for him to be fully scrutinized crash or no crash.
@@woopimagpieThe FIA graded the track, the didn't impose speed limits or lap time restrictions. This series was ruled by motorsport Australia and not FIA, even if it was a FIA event the fact that Bathurst was graded a 3 it would have only imposed power restrictions on level 2 car's.
Yeah, crashing at 300 or 330 kph the result will be up to luck, at those speeds nothing else. With that out of the way, motorsport can get very bitchy, particularly those who spend a lot of money and who expect to win or at least not to be thrashed by a backyard special. What I've found too is that a lot of private punters don't want to go faster than what they are comfortable with, I've done 245 kph on Conrod and while that's sort of fast it's far from being unmanageable. Basically this rocket is visually much faster than the other privates and that's the perceived problem but hell, we need cars like this, spectators love it.

Unfortunately Targa's dead old boy. It's been dying a slow death for years now. Who's going to risk forking out all that money only for them to turn it into a 5 day scenic drive if someone kills themselves?
@@Gooie69 Only reason is because they are Tasmanian, and would be a fun exercise to race the car in. 😎👍 As for the Targa deaths, I believe there should be a level of motorsports experience needed to compete in it. Not having Sunday lap drivers with a day licence trying to race a 5 day endurance event for a start would eliminate all the unnecessary crashes that have happened in recent years by these fools racing like it's a sprint. 🤦
@@MafiaboysWorld @The Maf Garage yeah he has run targa before with Cooper in the boost Torana but only navigating. Don't think he's driven the event. Having grown up there and watched every Targa except for the last 7 or so years totally agree there should be some sort or motorsport license or at minimum some sort or defensive driving course they have to complete. The amount of drivers you see that come flying into a corner then get on the brakes and coast around the corner and then change gears and drive off again is amazing.
@@Gooie69 Oh yeah it's F'n STUPID! I was a huge fan when Jim Richards and Tony Quinn and Greg Crick were smashing it around Targa. This car started out being a targa car but with Nissan built cast iron block . Brad bought it developed it to as far as you could go on that block to be reliable but the need for more power the billet block was introduced and developed to what it is now what you saw at Bathurst was dialed down there was another 3 to 400 on the table.
A top speed limit is my only acceptable negotiation to changing that skyline, it needs the power to be competitive, and it was awesome to see a good handling car be faster then a powerful car to be faster, it wasn't just the same car with a different headlight sticker going the same pace
Hey guys. This guys was lucky to get to race. They wouldn’t even let me on the track. I run a 20b in a series 2 Rx7. And it can do over 350klms it was making a1000 at the wheels. I tried to race in and open class just to get a race and they still wouldn’t let me race. I race at Qld raceway with out any problems. They just asked me to slow down a bit. That was fare. But even if they let me race in the 12 hour or the 24 hour I was not allowed to come first second or third. What’s with that. Then I found out that the rich people get the shit when guys like us kick their ass’s. And my car is very safe. 10 years of research on all the running gear. And I wanted it safe so I don’t get killed racing it. I have 3 young boys and I want to be around to watch them grow up. It’s all the rich guys that have a cry over us betting them in their million dollar cars. Mate it’s not the car it’s the driver. And for this bullshit speeding laws. Speed doesn’t kill. It’s the dickhead behind the wheel. People just don’t get tort how to drive properly. I’ve been driving since I was 5 years old. And touch would I have not yet been in a accident. Because I use my head. And I have been over 350 klms on a daily basis. When the Nt was open speed limit all the way. I bussed the cops doing over 350 klms and when they finally caught up to me when I was getting fuel they just wanted to know what it was and what was in it. And he did say it scared the shit out of him. Because he was sitting on 200klms. He asked me where I was heading to. I said back to Qld. He just said good luck. I have been racing all my life. And my kids will be to. They all ready know how to drive. They know all the road rules. Cain hard guys.
@@WHDRWN once I finish doing up the 7 to 8 thousand years of footage I have taken over the last year and this year. I will start putting up videos of the rx7. I that old video’s from years ago. But it was always raining every time I got to Qld raceway. So I just turned the boost down to 6 psi. Is the lowest it will go at the time. So the videos are pretty lame. I have designed a prototype rotary engine. Darren at billetinc has built a 2 rotor engine from my prototype. It’s a 2tlr 2 rotor. He has taken his 20b out of he’s race car and now using the 2 rotor. I’m building a 4ltr 4 rotor. It’s under a patent so no info on it until it’s approved. The 13b prototype I have built works great. More power better fuel economy. And better emissions.
Imagine having a 30+ yeah old chassis with a fully built motor with an aluminium billet block made on the original RB block pattern just basically rock everyone.
There was an article written ( I seem to remember it being in WHEELS magazine or something similar) in about 2015 but don't quote me. IT was written by a man who was once a highway pursuit and then crash investigation from memory. I recall him saying that due to time constraints, many accidents don't get enough time to be investigated. HE stated that "SPEED KILLS" was a campaign-designed slogan that was built to be unarguable. You can't argue with it because you must be traveling at a "SPEED" in order to crash. He went on to say that a majority of accidents listed as a result of speed were in fact driver error in matters such as not being unaware of the surface change, the road camber or the decreasing arc of the corner. HE mentioned many many things that were falsely put down the top speed when in fact it was Drivers' education, experience and preparedness. SO a driver may have been traveling too fast, but in many cases, he was ALSO doing something else or was simply unaware of the terrain, the road condition or the surface. Nothing that proper education cannot fix. Driving around a suburb with an occasional reverse park does not a great driver make.
hahahahah i just seen this , this is so so cool , good on you brad, like always you do amazing work, your a gun of a bloke we are lucky to have you peter in our corner. All hail the rear wheel drive but slapper 10/10. great work guys
Many people are so salty about this car at Bathurst. However, they fail the realise what the tube chassis cars were running against at the back of the pack 🤣. Advantages and disadvantages are what makes racing fun!
I don't blame him for taking his bat and ball and going home... That thing is fkn amazing and Sports Sedans is supposed to be an open class. What a bunch of sooks. And the worst thing about that ad is crashing a BA :(
Sports Sedans used to be an open class, but it's become a bit like the old Group B rally category - the cars have gotten scary fast. They're trying to mitigate before a disaster happens, especially because some of the drivers aren't top shelf. If a car runs wide, gets up on the fence and kills the driver and 10 spectators you won't be calling them sooks, you'll be calling for the category to be banned, which is what happened to Group B. Those lessons have been learned. Don't get me wrong, we all love a fast car, but there has to be some common sense.
It would actually been better to have a more balanced adjustable downforce setup (more in the front) and have a better diffuser. Power doesn't win races, it's the setup and the driver who make the difference
Depends on the track. Power certainly can play a huge role especially if you're good at driving a car that controls you. Le Mans has a huge straight which they've nerfed over time, but it's still a great demonstration of raw Power. Same goes for Conrod's Straight. Yeah, maybe the crash wouldn't have happened had the Car been setup for Handling (which is more expensive), but honestly, this is a really good demonstration of Car control in a car not fully optimized for Racing unlike the Mustangs, BMW, Mercedes, R35 GT-R, Porsche GT3s etc.
Not sure what the class requirements are, but an aggressive aero package would slow the car down in the straights and make it much more planted over the top of the mountain
if indeed 3mph over the speed limit causes a crash i cant believe how lucky the police, ambulance and fire service must be to avoid a massacre most days-or maybe its not true....
All we need to do now is have a spaceframe sports sedan series with this RB, an R26 turbo rotary and a 5 litre V8 Turbo. Mandate max rpm to 10000 and boost pressure blow off valve set to the same theoretical swept value eg. 5 litre v8 has 2 bar pressure, 3 litre RB has 3.3 bar, 5.2 quad rotor at 1.92 bar boost etc. Given max revs is capped you'll get engine parity. Also, the CG and weight of each engine should be made the same to encourage engine diversity. All cars to weigh 1000kg.
Sports sedans in the last year or so have had a 8500 rpm linit. This car is logged as a 2D sports sedan. It weighs a ton and definately cranks more horsepower. If he could just gut it and turn it into a tube chassis car.
I remember a TAC ad where a guy was driving home from a party while stoned. He pulls up so his missus can drive and gets hit by a truck. He would have survived if he kept driving
That was epic. Speed doesn't kill, inexperienced drivers do. Guns don't kill, the assholes behind them do. Be smart, obey the signs that matter and use your signals. Go fast!
In 1992 it was NEVER banned, people are dumb. As no one was really racing Group A cars anymore so they changed to Group 3A in 1993 (5.0 V8's) The Skyline was NEVER banned while racing in Group A.

@@blueblood5297 Wow, you have no idea how it works at all do you? You utter peanut.
@@Chris-od1jp Semantics. My point still stands.
Thanks for addressing the TAC ad. It absolutely proves that speed in and of itself doesn't cause accidents that take lives. BAD DECISIONS do.
“Boost leak from the green top” god these guys are funny!!
Love the Mike Nolan back drop! Punchin darts and breaking hearts fellas. That RB is insane!
You would be quite surprised how safe these cars are crashing at high speeds nowadays.
Bring those ads with people getting annihilated by trucks they were great
Yeah, that truck & dog trailer vs Kombi was a great ad.
my son had a gtst with a tunned rb26 pushing out 650hp and it was scary fast ...fastest car i have ever driven on the street , ,lay two black lines down the road at 120klm in third gear blow the rear tires on boost 26psi
ordinarily I can not stand the chop cut B-roll memes, Nut you guys just nail it and get a chuckle out of me every time.!!!
Thanks for the laughs!!
Jim: "It's Nitto or nothing!" 😈💪
Motorsports Australia: "I guess it's nothing. Get the banhammer!" 🤦👎
Jordo, it was 338km/h on the datalogs, not 335. 👍 Let it eat at Targa Tasmania.
These days it's just cashed up businessmen with next to if not zero racing experience looking for a tax write-off excuse to thrash their Ferrari or Porsche and have a holiday at the same time. 🤦
This car started out being a targa car but with Nissan built cast iron block . Brad bought it developed it to as far as you could go on that block to be reliable but the need for more power the billet block was introduced and developed to what it is now what you saw at Bathurst was dialed down there was another 3 to 400 on the table.
That thing is mental. Love it.
Geordo, tut tut, as an aussie car enthusiast, you should know every inch of mt panorama off by heart!
That Skyline is a monster! And you guys are funny...
R32 track monster from long time .
R32 who knew... Beast spec at its finest ..FARK THE HATERS 😎🤘😍
Yep agreed.his car his life.who the hell has any right to say different..too much of these...we know wats best for you..like our governments..grrrrr
Phwarrrr what a weapon.
Killed me boost leak from green top 😂.
What phukery 👌🏼🍻
I was with you until 'tort' bro
@@WHDRWN oh a typo. Dam. I didn’t do a spellcheck my bad.
I'll take "things that never happened" for $500 Alex.
@@patt20b i'm not grammar nazi'ing ya but that's a rough one bro
That R32 is impressive to watch 🇦🇺😎
Love it. My old R32 RB30DET is still years ahead of the current BMW AMG and Audis. Tuned vs tuned. Power to weight, chassis the old RB is amazing.
Please bring this car to World Time Attack in Sydney !!!
Brad actually tunes xtreme gtr time attack car
please bring more time attack cars to sports sedans and show what home built cars can do for 24hrs
Imagine having a 30+ yeah old chassis with a fully built motor with an aluminium billet block made on the original RB block pattern just basically rock everyone.
This was a good video, good editing and the ending was funny af 😂😂😂
Laugh every time Supercars Australia claim that Supercars are hitting 300 KM down Conrod ... They Never do
Yeah seen on V8 sleuth that the shell is actually a GTST shell
First old mate doing the corner in nasca. Now this bloke doing the grand trurismo Sunday cup in his 1100hp gdr 😂
I was going 10 over the speed limit and next thing I know, a series of UFO's were shot down. Crazy out there guys - slow 'er down!
Speed doesn't kill, the sudden stop at the end does.
The turbo dose on the Falcon was a crack up 😂😂😂
Mike Nolan wallpaper yeah nah yeah nah yeah nah nah yeah
Too fast even 30 years later! 😯
Great video guys, it was like a mini bench torque!
One of the best edited videos I have ever seen

I love you editing
They could have crashed an AU and done both the car and the community a favour.
The car is probably already perfectly balanced. Downforce isn't everything. Maybe active Downforce or is that not allowed?
Can you boys go talk to the owner and show us this car please........
I watched that Red dart sending it around Bathurst. Was so sorry he lost it. 1170hp under your right foot. Insane.
Think the guy driving the povo pack green top was actually changing his e boost from low boost to high boost setting..
👍🤣
I don't think it can last 12 hours with 1000+hp.
Fanbois trying to find excuses for the R32 is just pathetic 🤦
Good thing it doesn't do 12 hour races.
THAT R32 REMINDS ME OF MY 1999 CHEVY 2DOOR 4X4 TAHOE WITH A LT4 AND 10L90E, 241 3:73 GOIN WAY TOO FAST!!!!!!! SCARY MATE!
A car with 500hp more than its competitors is faster
In other news: water is wet
if indeed 3mph over the speed limit causes a crash i cant believe how lucky the police, ambulance and fire service must be to avoid a massacre most days-or maybe its not true....
i got to see this car and i can safely say its a monster
Skyline smashes out the competition again haha
The dose noises over the tac ad was gold hahaha
Great video lads, very entertaining!
Man, I love it!. You blokes sound like me (not that we're cynical or anything...). Love your work.
Fuck that thing is fast
Best one yet guys love it 😂😂
I remember a TAC ad where a guy was driving home from a party while stoned. He pulls up so his missus can drive and gets hit by a truck. He would have survived if he kept driving
Couldn't agree more with your summary of television these days! 🤣
The flutter on the BA TAC ad got me 😂
point of contention. It was never banned by the definition of a ban, it just was no longer was eligible
He normally runs 1400hp safely all year, turned down to keep wheels on the road. In Tasmania 2 wheels off every corner.
That was epic. Speed doesn't kill, inexperienced drivers do. Guns don't kill, the assholes behind them do. Be smart, obey the signs that matter and use your signals. Go fast!
He holds the record in Symmons Plains Tasmania 50.6 he can drive 🚗
I was in the garage working on fkn Geminis and missed the Combined Sports sedan racesz , is it uploaded anywhere yet ?

I watched the start of this race and had to goto work. But yeah I was stund how it gapped out. What a shame he staked it.
The listening for the boost leak comment is absolutely golden 🤣
Great video 👍👍
How good was the old Skaife /Richards Godzilla 🤙
It's hilarious how they have to prevent sports sedans from being faster than "supercars"
Bring back the boost!
In 1992 it was NEVER banned, people are dumb. As no one was really racing Group A cars anymore so they changed to Group 3A in 1993 (5.0 V8's) The Skyline was NEVER banned while racing in Group A.
The editing had me pmsl 😁👍
No one going to drop the obligatory ‘NOLLZEY!!!!’

I have to give the driver and the car more respect for his drive against everyone else.
Gapp sauce of the start....SERIESLY MENTAL GTS-T....🤘🤘🤘..bummer it had a slip up...
Also with that add it shows the Ford driver overtaking on the left and the truck driving in the right hand lane but hey 3ks over is more important
