In this case in heaven you literally can't have that sometimes because often those you care about and love are left behind when you die, you won't be able to have their company or to provide for them or spend any time with them unless they also die. There's flaws with the idea of a heaven that is perfect no matter what.

Well the father isn't wrong per se. Its a copy of the Arasaka child's father's consciousness in code. The preacher on the TV was honestly correct "its a cold heartless algorithm speaking with the voice of the departed. Instead of letting our loved ones go, we haunt ourselves with their voices, their presence."

We aren't that far away from this becoming a reality and that is honestly spooky. We are about to break the barrier between life and death, and God knows what else. Or we're all gonna get nuked, either way reality as we know it is fucked.
The preacher is only half right, because the reality is truly much worse than that. It's a soulful haunting carbon copy of the dearly departed, doomed to a very difficult existence while being every part as 'alive' and aware as anyone else.
It's not a soulless algorithm, though I'm sure it brings some comfort to think otherwise. The implications of holding a consciousness captive are so disgusting that deluding oneself into thinking their something lesser is really the only way to maintain some semblance of moral integrity.
@@jacobp.2024 well that's the thing, they are consciousness but they DON'T have a soul. the creator of Soulkiller explicitly states that despite not being it's original intention, that Soulkiller "does precisely what it's name suggests"(not sure if I nailed the quote or not). So Construct V is indeed in a miserable predicament because they are literally a soulless copy of someone they KNOW is dead, and even more morbidly they have to walk around in a meat suit that isn't even genetically their's anymore. If you're one of the people who believe in *ahem* expanding your legacy with genetics, then if that body ever lives on to have children they won't be V's but children of a clone of Silverhand 😅

Soul killer is called that because it kills you but transforms you memory to a AI that is very advanced and is able to feal alive just like a human. So the AI takes the real person's memory's and uses them for its own like borrowing someone's personality and memory or something

Wasnt L4D the best! SO much better than the sequel, the special infected were just that, special and daunting through their random appearances and stationary witches that made the game a lot more challenging as opposed to L4D2 which had special infected most of the time and as such just became the norm and the witches moved so u just had to wait to get past them.

L4D1 is also way easier because of how overpowered the autoshotgun is. Makes you untouchable.

Transferring one's consciousness into a machine would make an artificial copy of it, as there are no ways to actually transfer souls.

I like how a big theme in the game is humans using the net as a means to hijack heaven and hell to become their own Gods, as if the net is just the human creation of those and the hubris that would go into creating a world like this
And then for the cherry on top, in most endings Alt eats them all lmao anyways, the very fact that they're in a man-made afterlife in the Net was the thing that made it possible.
Well, it's heavily implied the netscape evolved far past what we know it as due to AIs, especially rogue ones causing havoc

That's different because his engram wasn't the full him only parts of him as they were unable to SAVE ALL of Jackie only parts of him due to Jackies body being dead for so long at that point... I'd imagine trauma team could get a body to arasakas soul killer in minutes where as Jackie had been dead for at least a few hours by then hence why his engram isn't remotely as sophisticated as Johnnys engram... So yea of you pay the big bucks and get your engram done while your still alive in theory you could become immortal and talk to loved ones after death exactly like Johnny does and exactly as it was intended from the beginning... Your welcome....
There's a side effect of extracting an engram from a person who has been dead for hours. Neural degradation begins to occur, and as a result, the data extracted becomes spotty, more easily corrupted.
The reason why Saburo's engram is so pristine compared to Jackie's is because he possessed a neural link to a device which would store his memories upon his death.
I think it's more like a copy paste of the person's personality into digital format. The person you love is truly, genuinely gone but you can communicate with what is basically an AI to me that has the exact personality of your loved one. Like, I think Johnny Silverhand is truly gone, but his copy remains as an engram.

I like watching these shorts, as someone who just plays games. You cover a lot of the cyberpunk story that is pretty cool, I rarely stop to listen or interact with anyone because I’m too busy messing with the sandbox element of the game

It's quite fascinating the universe of cyberpunk! The awesome creation of some good developer brains working well together. A game build stories in the city if you slow down from leveling up and just try to listen to all the chat parts and dialogues you really get to enjoy the essence of what this game is about, but hey don't let that make you stop leveling up your skill tree

Here’s the thing if Jackie is given to Arasaka and then you join Arasaka side and speak with him, your talking to the last fleeting memories he had before bleeding out, the only reason saburo can talk like he did in that ending was he was just like Johnny with his full memory scanned and stored away with more space to hold more memory
When I saw this scene, I was like, "Just a relic reference, a really dark reference"
This also makes blowing up the tower a lot more sad. Yeah, Arasaka is terrible, but now all those rich people (who are still people) just lost their family again
I remember hearing that dialogue during my playthrough, it's not a secret, the whole ending is about deciding whether you want to be "immortal" or not
This is essentially technology we already have. An A.I could be trained on a person's personality and whereabouts, and you could easily talk to someone you know even after they're gone

With how fast chatbots are advancing i would he shocked if this doesn't happen. The limitation is probably training data, but with tech tracking everything now, training a bot on a whole life's worth of conversation seems reasonably atttainable.
If it's what I think... then Preston might be in a little heaven by being able to talk to his father, but his father is suffering in a totally different hell than what we normally know about.

So, in theory, it is possible that Jackie may still exist as a living construct somewhere up there. For what reason? Possibly to pry information on the whereabouts of the stolen relic.

If CDPR really wanted to, they can actually bring Jackie back. I mean... something was actually insinuated on the rooftop scene (no spoilers) that could play out my theory. It could be a stretch, yes, but possible. lol
Same with David Martinez. Adam wanted to keep him around as a construct to study, due to his resilience using the overly powerful cyberware that should have killed anyone else after a while. Adam himself is not much of Arasaka boy, so perhaps he really didn't care. But the door is cracked open for such possibility.
He blasts him off camera with a splash of blood transitioning the screen. Actually not too different with how V got shot in the face and seemingly killed, then dumped in the landfill, only to come back to life, thanks to the relic.
Imagine if Jackie is out there somewhere, along Alt and Johnny....and maybe..... David. The Arasaka has some really deep secret tech in their possession.
I mean... look at Adam. Went full chrome. The only organic thing left is the bit of exposed brain matter you see in game. lol
