I think another underrated pro to ripping is that the card is "new". Even if you buy a raw single or even a graded card, it has already been owned and touched by someone else. For me, there's something about being the only person to have owned a card that I like. Idk the full process of cutting sheets and packing and/or removing the card from a card saver and encasing when you submit for grading, but part of me thinks it's possible that my card has only realistically been touched by my hand and my hand only, which to me, makes it a bit more special.
I’m new to this hobby but having a lot of fun and trying to learn. My son pulled a Junior Caminero 1989 auto from a topps hanger box. He wants to keep it for a while, hoping Junior becomes a star. Does it make sense to get it psa graded?
What do you think is the best baseball hobby box to rip for ROI? I’m hearing Topps chrome is the best but it’s pretty great the return Stryker got on ripping heritage. I’m thinking of buying a case what do you guys suggest?
What are your thoughts about selling base rookies(raw) in lots. I typically put 3 or 5 base cards in a lot to maximize my time. I hate shipping singles under $5
Love these kind of videos. I also love how you care about the hobby and those of us that collect and are always looking for ways to help us with the hobby. You're a true fan of collecting and I appreciate that as someone who collects to collect and not to profit. Thanks again with all the valuable info you provide!
You must have a really great grading deal at PSA if it only costs you $160 to grade all those cards. For the average person it's like $20 per card which makes it not very smart to send in a card that's only worth $30 as a PSA 10, if it doesnt come back a 10 you're losing money.
I was saying that the 8 best to grade at $20 to grade would be $160. Sorry if it was confusing. It's tough to figure out what everything is worth and what's worth sending off so I was just trying to estimate some things.
Only thing I noticed that might be a little off in the experiment is that you only subtracted the grading fees for the ones you were accounting for gemming. Thank you very much for this experiment. Extremely entertaining, in the name of science!
To me it depends upon the product. When wax wasn't so highly priced, the risk wasn't that bad. There is far more benefit to me in most cases to just buy the card. I PC Kobe so in most cases its cheaper to buy the card I want. 90s wax is way too highly priced. On the newer stuff, it seems to me it varies . With high cost products like Sapphire, I feel it's better off to buy singles. Thank you for sharing Stryker. As usual, very informative
Love these "Masterclass" type videos. Awesome. So yeah I feel there is a sweet spot between singles and wax but like a lot of spots...it may be difficult to find. Ha! Let's go!
Hey. Think your overvaluing the B tier autos and variations. Unfortunately there not worth anywhere near what they should be worth. Either way. You did very well on the cases you ripped. Throwback variations are the most valuable/desirable cards from heritage. Very tough to pull tho
Great content and you’re right on the pros and cons. Ripping wax is so much fun and there’s opportunity to hit big. I feel like you gotta buy a lot of wax to get odds in favor for you to hit big cards hence opening two cases. I think if you’re buying 1 hobby box just buy the card you want but 2 cases that can get real interesting of course gotta have the capital
That was actually super helpful. As somebody new to the hobby but familiar with flipping (ive been a reseller on ebay for 6 years, unrelated to sports/cards) this was cool to see.
@@StrykerBreaksThanks for the response. Total bummer I was so stoked for my first fanatics boxes. Been having crazy good luck with the 23 chrome platinums though 👌
Ripping is great when it's strategic, like with this Heritage product. The price for hobbies has dropped to a very good price, there's 2 top tier rookies to chase, a decent amount of 2nd tier rookies, the upside vs. price is huge with the Real Ones and the numbered parallels, smallish set so you get quite a few of the top rookies in a case to potentially grade.
I think singles are more economical financially in general, but opening wax is more fun/satisfying when finding stuff.

Awesome video Stryker just pulled a McCutchen golden mirror out of a hanger 😀
After watching this video I bought that Julio Rodriguez 2022 Topps Heritage Rookie RC PSA 10 on eBay for $18
In the movie "Contact" with Jodi Foster is one if my favorite quotes. "Why have 1 when you can have 2 at twice the price" - The Government

The Bobby Witt Super in heritage high hasn’t been pulled yet, saw the Julio get pulled though , that’s probably a huge modern card still hiding
Obviously you’d just have to move to Belize and continue ripping packs if there are going to be family issues or interference

Very thought out pros and cons list and very honest valuations!
I vote this series doesn’t end

Stryker what platform do you break on or how do I get into a break?

I opened a case, pulled the Bobby Image SP and it gemmed! I’m the $340 comp. Sweet card for sure!
That is the reason for Stryker Breaks, the surprise of what you will get, without the cost of purchasing all the wax. Dart through
The lowest price is the best offer you send that is accepted. Don't be afraid to make an offer because sellers want to sell.
You just showed why you're the best 👌 great video I personally like opening mainly for the reasons you explained
Con: You open the first pack of your box or case, and you realize the Quality Control sucks!!
Who's been there before?!?!
Let's go!!!!

Awesome series! Great cards!
Glad you like them!
Stryker perfectly described the hobby here

stryker i have been waiting for this video thank you! you the man
The next "Mr. Baseball" long term?
I like how K word is also a highlight now. 😂😂
Been waiting for this video for a while. Let’s go
i'm kind of new, why does Stryker always have funny face when seeing Yusei Kikuchi's cards?
A long running joke. th-cam.com/video/RrS6Brr3Ecg/w-d-xo.html
You’re the real deal on these videos, which case was it in this video?
That Bobby real one and julio silver. Damnnn
If I could afford it I’d rip the case all day
memberberries 😂 great episode
What do you all do with all the base cards?
The entre Wax vs Singles series was a fun and informative ride. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, Stryker. Hope you had a wonderful time away with family!!!! Welcome back!
Thanks 👍

There’s no fun in buying singles…
Finally the finale
Here early!
Did you happen to see my X post that I tagged you in? I had a weird experience opening fanatics boxes and wanted your input!
Just checked it out. Looks like you happened to get a similar Aqua collation. That's a bummer. I had that happen in Series 1 with duplicate aquas.

@Stryker Breaks Awsome videos man. keep them coming. Question for you. What do you do with all the base cards?

I don’t think you can just assume a PSA 10. Have to keep the price comp on raw
🎉
