I can see how it's got under your skin , it's of that solidly dependable , but interesting and fun era of car manufacturing , my Grandfather had a few such cars when i was a young boy , MG Magnette and Mercedes Ponton , for instance , i loved playing in them . Btw being positive i think that the residue of the first hand Painted coat probably leveled up the surface a bit and made the spray coat more successfull . Another thought it was intended to be a jet turbine powered car !
I spent all day bank holiday watching you restore the rover 100. Really enjoyed it being a woman because my grandad had one . And brought back so many memories. I will be watching a few more . Because you don't take things to seriously like some do. Keep the videos coming Abbie xxx
hello ben, just found this absolutely brilliant episode on the rover 100. So much so i ve been binge watching your back episodes. The main reason i wanted to message you is i remember as a young lad my dad borrowing my grandfathers P4 110 in bottle green. this would be around 1970 and we got pulled over by a police car, {big deal in those days}. It was in Chester and my dad thought he had been speeding but it turned out that there must be a switch on the dash that only puts the dash lights on without the headlights. It must have been at night and you could see where you were going with the street lights and didn t really need headlights. I ve never forgotten it because my dad got told off by a policeman haha!, for not having his lights on. Don t suppose the police would bother these days but just in case make sure you have your lights on. I think i ve still got the under dash tool set in my workshop complete with touch up paint canister and mini grease gun. Thanks for a really interesting video bringing back lots of great family memories of when l was a young lad
These videos are brilliant. I love how long they are and that you don’t upload 20 minutes every week and drag it out. Your passion is also contagious. Jealous of your workshop
27 minutes in & as glorious as ever! The mighty Viking lives!! I’m so happy that you are keeping her Ben. We need more of the mighty, occasionally mischievous Viking!! I’d love a regular “Tales from the Viking” series. Visits to shows, tours, updates etc. ❤
It’s becoming my must watch vlog brings back so many happy driving memories with my dad. Only car as a passenger I have ever comfortably read a book in during a long journey. Doesn’t it eat up the petrol I remember my dad complaining about that more than once.
Really enjoyed watching your video on the P4. I have a P4 95 which is very similar to the 100. Interested to see that the battery has been relocated under the bonnet instead of that inconvenient place under the back seat. You mentioned purchasing lead replacement additive, the P4 was built with hardened valve seats so will be ok on unleaded fuel unless you drive it really hard. Apologies if that is something you already knew. Have used unleaded fuel in mine for 13 years with no problems. I also use Esso super grade which in my area does not contain ethanol, another safeguard against it attacking susceptible materials in the fuel system. Good luck with your P4, it looks to be a brilliant improvement from what you originally purchased.
Glad the old boy came around in the end. A nice bonus of some Chester footage, too. I live on the shores of Western Canada these days but twenty five years ago and more I worked in Chester and loved the old city.
Your videos remind me of a 1954 Rover 90 I had many years ago with a valve HMV radio. Lots of nostalgia. Great car. I suspect your clutch is lighter than many modern cars. I think in the rear axle has a breather valve on top which is worth checking to make sure the ball bearing is free, this avoids pressure build up. These are great well built cars of yesteryear.
Did you notice as soon as you took the wheel trims off, the Viking punished you with its fuel and spark issues? It refused to be driven away from its trims. It ran on the way home toward its trims. Yet you didn't refit the trims so it said "flip you" and threw its spark away. Damn thing is Christine.
Great job looks amazing compared to what it was!!! Only thing in my opinion let's it down is the wheels now you've taken the hub caps of . Perhaps if you keep it you will treat it to a set of black banded steels
Just sat through all 4 episodes from beginning to end. Great to see an old car brought back to life and be used, carry on the good work and great footage
One thing I found with my old P4 was that in northern Germany,in the very cold temperatures, the old girl started easily with the starting handle. I loved these episodes.
Hello from one hatched in Fort Gary, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1952..... I am fiddling "Swinging on a Gate" on my Violin. In the 1960's we were dirt poor kids and used Coca-Cola to remove rust from chrome bumpers.
I think turning into some sort of vintage race car is a brilliant idea and it looks absolutely great! Perhaps when finances allow a v8 swap would be awesome maybe a 4.6 Rover v8
Magnificent recovery with the paint is that like British Racing Green goes so well with the cream what a lovely car starting to appreciate the British cars cheers from Down Under
Ben, love the P4. Love to see it going on a few trips and adventures. Life been a bit shite lately but watching your adventures always brings me round again and is a welcome distraction. Thanks again mate. 👍
If you are going to paint it. Then oven pads aka Brillo pads (But buy the cheap non brands saves ££) are great on chrome or aluminium. It's far less abrasive than sand paper. And polishes it at the same time to a near mirror finish. I've used it on aluminium BMX frames that were painted and it brings it to a polished chrome effect. It also removes rust from chrome too.
Absolutely loved what you have done with a car that so many would walk on by. It's spring, and I am getting my P6 out this afternoon, finally the weather is better. New headlights, give her a once over, then start to drive her with a trip around the block a few times to check everything, then up the road a couple of miles to top up with some fresh fuel. Happy days. I know exactly what you mean when you are keeping her - they get under your skin and stay there. Top, top, work.
For the time it was designed this was a complicated car. That works against you now. But once the weakest links it still has are addressed properly it will serve you. Despite being mistreated and left sleeping in a meadow it wants to go again. She showed you what it’s still capable of. She only wants to deliver if everything is sorted. That’s all! Greetings from Holland. Willem.
Seen you in her knocking around chester on that day, only realised it was you after seeing the video, didn’t click on straight away with the green paint job. Looks fabulous 😃
What an absolutely amazing recovery job you did on that offside. I would have died if that had happened to me. It looked like a disaster. But, now no one would ever suspect anything went wrong. You snatched victory from the jaws of defeat and what a great video it turned out to be. A real corker. Well done indeed. I have a bodyshell to paint this year and its inspired me to grind on and get the job moving after stalling on micro-fixations which were just robbing me of precious time.
Just watched your trip in ev to the classic car show mate you brought the best memories of me in my p6 and my mate Tom in his rover p4 I was smiling so very much thank you ben. This summer I'm def taking the wife to some shows and relive the memories of classic car ownership. You really are a legend my friend
Talking about the next owner as if you aren't going to keep this forever. The Tasty Truck, Tasty Viking and Tasty Baguette are all permanent fleet members now and you know it! 😂 I'd watch another 2 hours of this car, maybe when you paint the top? 😉
Loved every bit of this resurrection and turning it in to a classic touring car was just a great idea from the subscriber. I’d like to see more of this for sure as a throw back to the Jim Clark days of the golden era of Motorsport 😊
Hi Ben,really enjoyed episode 4 of the wonderfull rover p4 100,I'm happy your keeping the viking, looking forward to many more of tasty classics, you deserve all the very best of success, have a great weekend . Alan from Coventry warwickshire.👍.
Excellent, Fabulous Ben. Just like you, i am in total Love, Love, Love her so much. She is a real Stunner going down the road and keeping up with the modern traffic as well. What a great paint job you did Ben, Love the British Racing Green with the Cream two tone bodywork. She has only some little bits to finish on her. I have really Enjoyed the whole Journey of the Revival of this Gorgeous English Classic 1962 Rover 100 P4. Very, very Well Done Ben doing some Superb Restoration and making her Shine again. Thank you very much.
Lovely old Rover and defo worth saving. Your paint job did'nt turn out too bad in the end and she looks a lovely old girl. As for the 820 Rover it still looks modern and I would still want one today as long as all the jobs had been sorted particularly the head gasket. Love your honesty on these projects and enthusiasm and dedication.😁👍
Your videos on the Rover took me back 60 years, when as a boy I would sit next to my late Uncle in his Rover 90. Red leather seats, huge Viking steering wheel and super long gear gear change and little lights on the dash surrounded by chrome rings with real wood on the dash and on the doors (NO plastic !).... Halcyon days !.... if you want halcyon days then you should keep it !!.
So glad you've decided to keep the old viking the journey you have been on with that car can only build a stronger bond the the race car idea is just chefs kiss 👌👌
Many thanks for a very entertaining hour or so - love the way the old girl won't play ball most of the time 😆I spent my first 10 years at work as a motor mechanic, many moons ago, worked on many cars, including Rovers such as yours, if my memory serves me correctly side valve exhaust overhead valve inlet ? and Jags, minis, Cobras, Ferraris ,GT40s a real mixed bag - even F1 cars. Also had a hand in restoring 3 double decker 1953 London buses in USA about 15 years ago - so I feel your pain ! Keep up the good work !
Fair play ben love the video the stickers and paint fantastic transformation well done keep finding them left for dead, fantastic videos love watching them 👍💯
That paint turned out great in the end. I wasn’t sure about the colour but it really pops! Please, please, PLEASE Ben, wear a bloody respirator when painting, especially with Enamel paints! I’d love you to be around past your 50s without having some kind of horrible lung disease. Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see another Rover episode!
Out of all the many channels I watch, yours is one I hope really does well, it's lovely content and most importantly, you are a lovely guy. Its looking good so far... PS No, I'm not bored of the Rover either. Edit: Your mate was a lovely guy too.🤠🤠
thanks for another great video ,i once had a old morris minor that i bought for my daughter ,it had been stood rusting to death for maybe 15 years ,but did it, very simple engine helped but it always struggled on tick over and turned out to be perished rubber fuel lines that was forever filling the fuel resovoir with little bits of rubber ,once all replaced it ran like a 1960s 1000 cc enginge ,love your videos
I like watching people restore old cars to perfection but at the same time, I realize that I have neither the time nor the patience nor the money required to achieve that perfect result. I'd be happy if I reached a state where my project cars would just run and drive reliably, even if they don't look like a show car. And this is why I love your channel!
Enjoying the show, I've painted a number of vehicles with a roller to a high shine with no roller marks. The key is a foam roller and a clean second roll to take out the marks and bubbles. Renew rollers regularly. Then cut and polish.
You should have used a mohair roller and minimally thinned the paint or even full strength. The wooly one you used is creating the bubbles and shedding. You should get a near spray finish , I do on cabinets and doors that I have to finish. Harris are the best mohair roller . Don't buy Q&B cheapies....oh and don't overwork it
I know I'm late to the party but I'm binge watching my way through your channel, i absolutely love this vehicle and the all of your other cars you've featured. I really like the mix of humour and information. keep up the great work.
Glad you're going to keep it, oh yes a racer it's going to be brilliant. That paint job was really good, when you get around to painting the top it's going to look awesome. When it's all done, you could take it on a road trip and take him around the Nuremberg Ring👍
Brilliant transformation and a very enjoyable watch. I’m no mechanic but your logical problem investigations give me a better understanding of how ‘things’ work. Also, the backing song at around 1:53 onwards is terrific. Looking forward to the next project 😊
I remember driving my 1958 Rover 90 up Wrynose Pass in the Lake District, about 1978 so not very long ago. I couldn't get up the Pass because of the steep road - I kept getting fuel starvation, the SU pump in the boot being unable to pump at that angle. It was only a few years ago that I discovered that SU pumps that push fuel, from the rear, are different to ones that suck from the front. That was probably my problem! Great work on the car Ben. I had P4s for general use for a few years back then, lovely cars, quality and good looking and a nice smooth 6 cylinder engine. Thanks for your videos, great fun.
Back in the day I trained as a painter/ decorator all our films vans were x water authorities vans mainly Bedford cf,s de badged and coach painted my Forman taught me the basics your paint supplier should have sent short pile rollers far less trouble with bits , also thin paint a little spread it further then lay off with a brush in all directions finishing off all in same direction horizontal or vertical which ever works best it will take a few days to really harden up but a good finish can be achieved quite easily but it does take practice 😂😂. Great video though mate as always your incredible enthusiasm and energy for the projects always shine through no pun intended 😂👍👍 keep em coming 😎😎
Lots of love from a hour way from the workshop. My mum, dad and I love the content and watch them fully. Your the only TH-camr I have brought their merchandise and watch the videos without an ad blocker. Your content and editing style reminds me of old times of the site from 2010-2012. Thank you Ben and I hope the parts shop that you visit almost daily gives you a sponsorship because you deserve it.
Try opening your pattern up on the spray gun and overlap 70%. And for next time put the enamel in boiling water and get it good and hot. Before I retired I worked for Sikkens and Spies Hecker as a paint demo guy, painted hundreds of cars in my day, just ask and I’ll try to help all I can. Love your Videos, it’s my wife and I s favorite thing to watch eating our lunch😁
Ben, spend a little more and buy a better gun with 1.4 mm cap, that gun probably has a 1.1 cap. See if you can find a used Sada online, there not cheap but worth it in the long run
Great job you done true British car lad you both brought back to life and back on the road... Have been in rover two tone one lovely one .1970.. Bishops stortford Herts
Hi Ben, Loving the Rover resurrection and all of the content on your channel, which I have been bingeing over the last week or so. FYI coach enamel is widely used for painting commercial vehicles, lorries, busses etc. To spray coach enamel its better to heat the paint in a hot water bath, rather than thin it. an old metal tank with an emersion heater works OK. When it's heated the paint thins naturally. This means you can get a heavier coat on as the paint thickens as it cools and aids with drying. Unfortunately it does still take an absolute age to dry out, as its not curing via ca chemical reaction as 2K would, but air drying. Hope this helps!
I had a lot of success with coach paint, but I applied it with a brush and followed the instructions to do it when it’s warm. In fact 24 degrees was the minimum. It looked awful. But the next day it had markedly improved itself. After a week it was stunning! It formed a skin which pulled tighter and tighter, evening itself out. Daily it looked better. Eventually I polished it and it came to a gun finish. Spraying would have saved an enormous amount of time.
So good to see the old Rover go from an abandoned car to something really special. I look forward to updates as you make further improvements and hopefully get The Viking out to some shows over the summer.
You have done an amazing job with the Rover. My uncle had a Rover 110 in the mid 60s which was wonderful and so well engineered and it looks like the structure of your 100 is still pretty good!
Great job, and now that you've got the sides looking so good it'd be wonderful to do the beige too, it would have to be less work than getting the sides ready! And then it would truly be a keeper!
Bonus episode!!! This whole series has been a great watch from start to finish. Love your enthusiasm, no doubt you are an inspiration to others. Keep delivering
Being from the states I am not up on the race graphics. Those do look fantastic by the way! My quaestion is that I noticed you did not put a number plate on the trunk so is that era correct or just your taste? It just seems a little naked in the rear end. Insert dirty comment here......... Great job overall and maybe one day you'll cross the pond and have a few meet and greets. Cheers, Mike
The P4 looks amazing, lm sorry l suggested the race inspired look....... NOT.!! IT LOOKS BLOODY EPIC... That old school circuit racer really makes it stand out from the crowd and gives the old girl a new lease of life and even more so when you get it closer to terra firma 😉 cut front springs and flip that rear axle or use lowering blocks its easier haha... Love this channel and your Derekisms 👌👍❤️
Thanks for putting all this up. I'm going to own a P4 soon, so it's been good to see so many aspects get looked at. Now, when you started the engine after fitting those new points, it was firing against the direction of the starter, which means it's over-advanced. That could explain the stutteriness when coasting on little throttle, which is when the vacuum advance would be applying further advance to the ignition. Cheers.
Great video, and so glad you're keeping her. Him. Whatever. But please please don't go all racing purist: keep the P4 hub caps!! Looking forward to seeing you sort out the fuel and other mechanical bits, the cream upperwork (sorry stickers!) and the interior - that rickety dash was ok for a quick fix but... ... 😮 The P4 Rover 100 production run was between 1959 and 1962, during which period a total of 16,520 were built..... plus one: your Viking! "The P4 series is fondly referred to as the ‘Auntie’ Rovers although critics labelled them the ‘Poor Man’s Rolls-Royce’. The P4 was popular with the British royal family. However, the car’s most famous owner was actress and Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly. During road testing, Bob Dearborn of Tester Road & Track is quoted as stating “…and I honestly believe (barring the Rolls-Royce) that there is no finer car built in the world today.” By 1962, the final and fastest car in the P4 series was the Rover 110, which featured a 2.6-Litre engine that during a road test showed a maximum speed of 100 mph and acceleration of 0-60 mph in 15.9 seconds." So your venerable Viking doing 0-60 in 17.81 is spot on for her engine. I meant his engine (sorry Viking!) By the way, Viking is a much better name than 'Auntie', 'Poor Man's RR', or 'Princess Margaret's Ostentatious and Extravagent new Two Tone Tartan Touring, Picnic-Outing and Steeplechase-going Automobile Sedan.' 🚘 👏 👏 👏 www.smiths-instruments.co.uk/rover-p4-series/#:~:text
Absolutely fantastic. I tried buying one of these in the nineties. The owner had it parked by the side of the road, it was restorable, but he refused all offers to buy. Over the years it rotted to nothing. Such a shame. You're to be commended for what you've done here, Ben. The P4 really was a quality car. Go for the paint on top, it would look amazing. And don't sell those hub-caps! Put them in a box and keep them safe. What a brilliant channel.
Hope you enjoy this episode, I have decided to hold on to the Viking for the foreseeable! It's properly got under my skin 😍
I knew you would end up keeping it a bit, you're having too much fun with it and l can't blame you mate
I can see how it's got under your skin , it's of that solidly dependable , but interesting and fun era of car manufacturing , my Grandfather had a few such cars when i was a young boy , MG Magnette and Mercedes Ponton , for instance , i loved playing in them . My father had a rover 60 same body as yours brilliant motor wish I had it now! Alan Northern Ireland 👍
Its amazing how many of those old Rovers have survived
So you should. Lovely car and a job well done.❤
Well done. I agree with you to keep it.
I had a 1954 p4 when I was 17 in 1962 I’m now 79 I have fond memories of that car
Solid survivor. You remember cars from the 70s rotting away in 10 years. This goes back probably nearly another 20 years and is still great.
I spent all day bank holiday watching you restore the rover 100. Really enjoyed it being a woman because my grandad had one . And brought back so many memories. I will be watching a few more . Because you don't take things to seriously like some do. Keep the videos coming Abbie xxx
What a transformation - back from the dead , well done.

From seized to 17.81. Gotta love it.
My thoughts entirely - totally seized rock solid now racing around without a total engine rebuild - perseverance indeed.
Absolutely love the transformation of this Rover "The Viking" looks awesome. You have to keep it now. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Im glad mine and others comments of wanting to see more of the p4 was listened to. Love it
turns out he's keeping it as a staff car! People keep the cars that look like themselves
Alternator is kaputt 😂
I like to watch you from Germany so much - like the content and your brilliant humour!!
Hang on a minute, Germans don't do humour???
27 minutes in & as glorious as ever! The mighty Viking lives!! I’m so happy that you are keeping her Ben. We need more of the mighty, occasionally mischievous Viking!! I’d love a regular “Tales from the Viking” series. Visits to shows, tours, updates etc. ❤
It's a Viking Saga!

Tossing shrek off 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ben there is only one problem with that nice green paint, the rest of car will look awful you may need to paint the white
That will look nice on a set of mini light wheels
Love that car! ❤

Excellent cheers mate

Fair play ben love the video the stickers and paint fantastic transformation well done keep finding them left for dead, fantastic videos love watching them 👍💯
That paint turned out great in the end. I wasn’t sure about the colour but it really pops!
Please, please, PLEASE Ben, wear a bloody respirator when painting, especially with Enamel paints! I’d love you to be around past your 50s without having some kind of horrible lung disease.
Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see another Rover episode!
So glad you are keeper her, the girl deserves some love, from one OLD Rover fan
No shame in being old if your as sturdy as this old rover 😂
@@mattinwinkymg same age 62 years young and still a teenager at heart
Heat the paint use a clean broom and get stuck in
Awesome result again! Absolutely loved watching you transform the OAP Rover ❤
Out of all the many channels I watch, yours is one I hope really does well, it's lovely content and most importantly, you are a lovely guy. Its looking good so far... PS No, I'm not bored of the Rover either. Edit: Your mate was a lovely guy too.🤠🤠
For all the work you have put in it you should keep it, it's nice car i bet there's not many of them around .
thanks for another great video ,i once had a old morris minor that i bought for my daughter ,it had been stood rusting to death for maybe 15 years ,but did it, very simple engine helped but it always struggled on tick over and turned out to be perished rubber fuel lines that was forever filling the fuel resovoir with little bits of rubber ,once all replaced it ran like a 1960s 1000 cc enginge ,love your videos
Rover looks great another classic saved well done
Great episode m8. Keeping this gem is the right move, as i can see you just love this car ( me too).
There’s stuff floating about in the fuel bowl - cars looking great 👍🏻
Said it before, I'll say it again, love this channel! Great stuff Ben. These longer videos are brilliant.
I like watching people restore old cars to perfection but at the same time, I realize that I have neither the time nor the patience nor the money required to achieve that perfect result. I'd be happy if I reached a state where my project cars would just run and drive reliably, even if they don't look like a show car. And this is why I love your channel!
Thanks
thank you Stuart!
Loved every minute of that, what a gorgeous car, you should be well chuffed.
Enjoying the show, I've painted a number of vehicles with a roller to a high shine with no roller marks. The key is a foam roller and a clean second roll to take out the marks and bubbles. Renew rollers regularly. Then cut and polish.
A difference of night and day, love it what a tribute to the P4 - I am totally hooked on your channel. Keep the content coming please
Great entertainment as always Ben. Think the Viking would look good with a set of p5 rostyles or some other period wheels.
Great enjoyable video !
Car looks fantastic, great work.
Look forward to your next video. 👍
Loved it...and thanks for the episode... Excellent job as always 👍
Glad you're going to keep it, oh yes a racer it's going to be brilliant. That paint job was really good, when you get around to painting the top it's going to look awesome. When it's all done, you could take it on a road trip and take him around the Nuremberg Ring👍
Keep keep keep keep it please🙏🙏love to see that beauty from time to time, fantastic job🙏🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧🍺🍺
Fantastic content as ever, Ben. As the roll paint went on I have to admit I was in somewhat disbelief and concerned…🤣🤣, you pulled it back though.
I really hope you keep this Viking and turn it into a race car. I have absolutely love watching your videos on the beautiful car.
Great video. Love the old Rover, very entertaining and makes me smile. We have all been there with the paint.
Great video from the best channel on TH-cam. Hope we see much much more of this Rover!!
Thanks Chris!
I really hope you paint the top. The green is great.
I’m surprised that I like it, too. At first I thought it wasn’t a good choice, but wow. It’s terrific. Personally, I really like the two tone!
I never thought watching paint dry could be so interesting....Thanks for a great video
I've tried everything on the gun to get a wider pattern and that's the best I can get out of it, any ideas?
Ben, spend a little more and buy a better gun with 1.4 mm cap, that gun probably has a 1.1 cap. See if you can find a used Sada online, there not cheap but worth it in the long run
The first thing to stop working on a cheap gun is the spray pattern
Eric the Viking looks much better without the hub caps.
I'm so glad you decided to keep it. My new favourite!!
Great job you done true British car lad you both brought back to life and back on the road...
Have been in rover two tone one lovely one .1970..

Hi Ben,
Loving the Rover resurrection and all of the content on your channel, which I have been bingeing over the last week or so.
P.S. I should mention you drop the open can of paint into a the hot water bath, not pour the paint into the heater bath! :)
She’s beauty ❤ ❤
Love this car mate
I had a lot of success with coach paint, but I applied it with a brush and followed the instructions to do it when it’s warm. In fact 24 degrees was the minimum. It looked awful. But the next day it had markedly improved itself. After a week it was stunning! It formed a skin which pulled tighter and tighter, evening itself out. Daily it looked better. Eventually I polished it and it came to a gun finish. Spraying would have saved an enormous amount of time.
I was told to brush horizontally so one brush mark 'falls' into the other by gravity.
@@bananabrooks3836 thank you, great advice
COME ONNNN! I gotta get my coffee brewing and start my weekend off with another great episode of tasty classics!
The Viking is Back from the dead what a lovely car just keep it and love it, it looks a lot of fun you could have with it.
So good to see the old Rover go from an abandoned car to something really special. I look forward to updates as you make further improvements and hopefully get The Viking out to some shows over the summer.
Thanks Ben… loved it and watched all episodes. Sounds quite happy now. Well done. Onto the next then! 👍👍👍😃
Your right the P4 is a superb car, I have a 1963 rover 95. Love it. Well done with yours and I have learnt some more about the P4 thanks to you. 😂😂😂😂
Yes indeed I have thoroughly enjoyed the restoration of the P4. It looks awesome😊.
Love your work
The P4 looks amazing, lm sorry l suggested the race inspired look.......
Haha glad you like it mate thanks for the inspiration!
Looking forward to seeing you sort out the fuel and other mechanical bits, the cream upperwork (sorry stickers!) and the interior - that rickety dash was ok for a quick fix but... ... 😮
The P4 Rover 100 production run was between 1959 and 1962, during which period a total of 16,520 were built..... plus one: your Viking!
During road testing, Bob Dearborn of Tester Road & Track is quoted as stating “…and I honestly believe (barring the Rolls-Royce) that there is no finer car built in the world today.”
By 1962, the final and fastest car in the P4 series was the Rover 110, which featured a 2.6-Litre engine that during a road test showed a maximum speed of 100 mph and acceleration of 0-60 mph in 15.9 seconds."
So your venerable Viking doing 0-60 in 17.81 is spot on for her engine. I meant his engine (sorry Viking!) By the way, Viking is a much better name than 'Auntie', 'Poor Man's RR', or 'Princess Margaret's Ostentatious and Extravagent new Two Tone Tartan Touring, Picnic-Outing and Steeplechase-going Automobile Sedan.' 🚘 👏 👏 👏

Thank you I will!
