Let's all take the opportunity to thank Ajahn Brahm and BSWA for these talks. They brighten our week, are informative and humorous: a great gift of service to the community. 🙏

11 years ago I came across one of Ajahn Brahm's talks. The calm, wise teachings made me want to join a monastery. I shaved my hair for charity but it's really because I wanted to see what it might look like to be a buddhist nun. My parents told me "you need to live in the material world first, because to do things the other way round would be a lot more difficult for you" and so I became a musician instead. But I'll always come back to these talks as long as they exist, thank you so much Ajahn Brahm and BSWA 🙏

@@fingerprint5511 Noone said that. She just said she wanted to see how she might look like without hair. You can do that too if you want. It's not a bad thing to shave your head to imagine yourself as a monk or a nun. She never said that she made it too looks better or sth.

So, now you’ve been in the world a while, is it time to be a nun yet? If not now, when? Come one in it’s a fine life my dear.

@@santacaribhikkhuni5743 If I became one now, it would feel like running away. I'm still building back up from graduating during the pandemic, and I've also heard that one cannot join a monastery with existing debt. Do outstanding student loans count? Blessings to you all!

Arthritis everywhere. Fingers, toes, hips. It's a pain. 😆 but meditation helps with discomfort and helps to maintain flexibility. Physically and mentally.

I am British and have been a follower of Ajahn for as far back as I can remember via these TH-cam videos. Yesterday I watched an excellent video that had the tile 'Who am I'? When I look back over the years I don't recall Ajahn covering this subject. I'd love to hear him chat about this subject!😁😁😁!

@Ian Oliver I'd say send the BSWA an email. They will then forward your suggestions to Ajahn Brahm and/or other monastics👌😌

The Buddha said the question, 'Who am I?' is a flawed question. If you ask the wrong question, you get wrong answers. When one asks 'Who am I', then the question has already assumed the existence of an 'I'. Instead, formulation of the same question more pragmatically as 'What do I take to be 'I' or 'me'?' would pave the way for more insightful answers.

So should we push back or fight back if we are being wronged? Should we set boundaries on how much people can take advantage of us?
