I am a huge Rios fan. You are spot on regarding the insole. The insoles have progressively gotten thicker and therefore take up at least 1/2 size. They seem like really well made insoles but I always remove them. Also, I size down 1/2 for Rios Milan toe compared to cutter. Great video.
My Rios are the Big Chief model with a smaller square toe. I am a 10 D, and that is the size that fit me with removing the insole. Same thing with my Anderson bean stingray.

Really nice looking boots. I love my Rios, wear them without the insole for the hard leather insole of course.
I like the darker boots with quills they blend in a lot better.
Since you asked. I personally don't like ostrich. I just find it not very appealing to my preference. But I understand you love them so much. Bill told me about the pair you had. I'll tell him you said hi

Definitely go up a half size for Rios. You can get your regular size and take out the insole or possibly wear dress socks and leave the the insole in. I have one pair that I wear dress socks with and one pair I have to take the insole out. And I have one pair that I bought 1/2 size larger and it fits awesome. Although a tad long.
I am a big fan of Rios of Mercedes, I do own a pair like this since 2014, is very confortable and looks great. Regards from Mallorca, Spain.
I would agree with the 1/2 size up for D widths. My issue is I am an EE so for Rios in a D I do a full size up and leave the insole in and they fit snug (but not uncomfortable). So for those with EE but find a Rios boot you really want in a D I suggest to go a full size up and leave the insole in. I have a pair in karung snake and piraruccu and both have worked out fine like this. IDK why but whenever I find a Rios boot I really want they never have a 12EE in stock.

When it comes to insoles, it all depends on the person or the boots!
Some boots, the insoles do not even work !
Sometimes it is much better to leave boots without insoles!
I, who test the boots while walking on various places, hard like paths or stones, in nature, countryside, forests, cities, on long journeys, I can easily say the resistance and solidity of a boot (leather and heels and soles)!
