Agreed! Very unique style and able to squeeze a lot of unexpected and delightful sounds out of the three instruments he's shown us so far! I'm looking forward to many more!!!
His attitude is so positive compared to Mark's blasé approach to everything too! I thought his departure would doom the show but I'm loving the Lemmo version so far
Like the control that this axe has for a guitar player. John Lennnon on Let it Be and early Cream Jack Bruce. Great job Lemmo. I was sad to see Mark go but you are the right guy for this gig moving forward. Love your playing.
Bill A it refers to the shape of the body. Instead of the cutaways being parallel or close to it, they are offset. The term normally refers to guitars like fender jazzmasters and jaguars
This exactly, in the best way. But yeah, I miss little things, like Mark would yell at 2:34, "Look at that, it's squeaky clean!" That, and the wiggling with the wiggle stick.
I like this new guy a lot. Personable, knowledgeable, and I like that he has more eclectic musical tastes. Not that I mind blues and classic rock but everyone on TH-cam does that. He gets really good tones too. Keep this guy! 🤘🎵
Barry Soetoro it’s not even a song I don’t think, he’ll play one live sometimes but if you search “Eric Johnson Bass 6” there’s a 1 minute long video that came from his instagram
Barry Soetoro I ordered mine online, but I was a bass player who wanted to play guitar. Now I’m a guitar player. It’s familiar to a guitarist feel wise. I have the squirt vintage modified version
Ideal "eccentric" bass guitar for Michael's first Thumping Thursday episode! I am a huge fan of Thumping Thursday and now Michael because he "respects" the bass guitar! What a breath of fresh air with no more derogatory comments about the bass! Michael kicks major ass on this episode!!!
I'm running out of compliments, Michael!! I simply adore the Bass 6, it's literally the sound of my teens ( back in the 80s). The great thing is you don't attempt to mimick the music, like all the great players, you become the music!! I've been a fan for a while and it's so nice to see someone if only for a moment or two, get lost in the music they play. You do that frequently and it is beautiful to watch!! Thanks!!
Great show! Minimum BS, good historical/tech info on the instrument, cool playing and no disrespect. Think I am about to grab a cup, head upstairs and sit down with the Schecter 5 string. Peace.
Nice demo, Lemmo! Sounds great! (You're going to seriously challenge some of the song guessers with this all new repertoire!) Great to have a break from the bass-hate too (feigned or otherwise). And I can see it's going to be offsets all the time now! ;)
I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you Lemmo for this much needed change for Thumpin Thursday. I am looking very forward to see what you bring to guitar of the day. Great job.
I've spent the past 6 months umm-ing and ahh-ing about buying a bass VI, I think Lemmo just put an end to that. I'm sold. Lemmo, you're doing an unreal job!
I listened to Mark for the guitar tones (plus of course his inimitable personality), but I'm listening to Michael for the compositions -- plus dude, you're a wild man at heart - kudos!
yes yes yes! well played good sir. This is such a great instrument and fitting that it's a 6 string bass (and a Fender). This is the instrument that got me into the guitar from bass, was good to see it get some well deserved love.
I kept tapping on the volume-up button on the side of my phone every couple of minutes (I kept forgetting it was already maxxed out)!! Sweet sweet Depeche Mode riffs!! Great job, man! So happy for you!!🤘🏼
Great job, Michael. Such a cool sound. John and George played a lot of Bass VI on the later Beatles records. I believe John played it On While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Helter Skelter.
I'd only watched Mark since mid 2018, but this one....this one is the best Thumpin Thursday to date. Really, really enjoyed this. I'm also starting to expect, and like Michael's 'chill' style... I was driving home an hour ago thinking.....shit...no GOTD anymore since Mark left. I'm still getting used to "yeah dumb ass, it's still there" kind of thinking. Now, 3 days in, it's starting to seem familiar. Lemmo's totally chill attitude and "Hey, I love the Bass" really scored points with me. Respectful, acknowledging, yet genuinely unique. This is going to be a fun ride. I think he's a great counter point to Mark's point, but love them both. Both of best Worlds. As I mentioned a couple day's back......yeah, I'm still subscribed, for the long run. Good stuff. And.....we still have Jen !!!!!!!!!
Always wanted a bass just wasn’t sure now I want a bass vi...awesome job Lemmo definitely the best thumpin Thursday ...Lovein the late 80s mid 90s style..When I was a young man
Lemmo is doing a fantastic job
He's a little nervous obviously but his playing is great, as usual! Looking forward to seeing him settle into the role.
guitar oddysies ... Mark who?
Absolutely!
1) “It’s No Good” Depeche Mode
2) “Enjoy the Silence” Depeche Mode
3) “Back in the Saddle” Aerosmith
4) “Bodysnatchers” Radiohead
@Mark Corrigan stones and dm, for me is the beginning and the end!
Thank you so much! I heard "It's No Good" before but I could not remember the name of it.
This is the first time I've enjoyed Thumpin' Thursday. Very cool bass.
Really dug it!
Nice. Agreed,
Totally agree
Me to ! 😉
Just what I was going to say!
Anyone get the feeling Fender will one day steal Lemmo
I get the feeling Gibson got the wrong man.
hell yes
Nah!!!
@Roughman with all due respect, I never thought they would. Tight strings baby x
@Roughman of course I've heard about irony. How the hell do ya think I smooth the creases outta my God damn shirts man.
Best thumpin thursday ever. That shit sounded fire
Right?
Congratulations young man. You just raised the F..king bar to an all time high for "THUMPIN THURSDAY ".
Like the control that this axe has for a guitar player. John Lennnon on Let it Be and early Cream Jack Bruce. Great job Lemmo. I was sad to see Mark go but you are the right guy for this gig moving forward. Love your playing.
He snuck in another offset 😂
Thomas Reed I don't think he's really "sneaking" at this point.
👍🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love my Jaguar, so .. yeah, nice to see an offset on the show now👍👍
Newbie Q…what is an offset? TIA
Bill A it refers to the shape of the body. Instead of the cutaways being parallel or close to it, they are offset. The term normally refers to guitars like fender jazzmasters and jaguars
Get ready for a firebird soon
"It's no good", "Enjoy the silence"... songs that I never thought I would hear during Guitar of the day, amazing!!!
I miss Mark's vibe, but this guy is on another level. Geez. Very good playing.
This exactly, in the best way. But yeah, I miss little things, like Mark would yell at 2:34, "Look at that, it's squeaky clean!"
That, and the wiggling with the wiggle stick.
You see, that’s where the trouble began.
That Lemmo Laugh.
That damned Lemmo Laugh.
"Do you remember laughter?"
@@EricNielsen85 It's on the Stairway !
😎 🎩
Nice great now I'm scared

@@EricNielsen85 "I think this is a song of hope"
The bass vi is such a cool instrument
Yeah it is
I could listen to this all day. "Happy to be here" We can tell.👍
Never thought I'd hear Bodysnatchers on Guitar of the Day!! Nice job so far Lemo!
That boy can play. Very nice.
Radiohead 2 days in a row and an awesome version of enjoy the silence, loving the new GOTT
Guitar of the tay ?
Glad to see Lemmo keeping it weird right off the bat
Right ? I totally agree. This is Weird Ass Thursday!!!!!
Hearing Enjoy the Silence made my day even better! So awesome! Keep up the good work.
I like this new guy a lot. Personable, knowledgeable, and I like that he has more eclectic musical tastes. Not that I mind blues and classic rock but everyone on TH-cam does that. He gets really good tones too. Keep this guy! 🤘🎵
There is nothing better to lay back on than a good bass line.
Lovin' the Show ;
Micheal and the Extraordinary Jenn....!!!
Lemmo is doing a great job. Thank you and Jen both! 👍👍✌🏼
Great job Michael. Now we get to hear you play everyday. That's a treat!
I've been wondering what all you could do on a Bass VI. Now I know, and I like it!
Check out a video of Eric Johnson playing one, unreal
What is the name of the Eric Johnson song you are talking about???
Barry Soetoro it’s not even a song I don’t think, he’ll play one live sometimes but if you search “Eric Johnson Bass 6” there’s a 1 minute long video that came from his instagram
Raygan Adamson they don't stock them at the music stores here where I live... never got to play one!
Barry Soetoro I ordered mine online, but I was a bass player who wanted to play guitar. Now I’m a guitar player. It’s familiar to a guitarist feel wise. I have the squirt vintage modified version
this is a thumping Thursday I can get behind
Another pleasant surprise! I am enjoying this GotD Lemmo era.
Wow. Fantastic playing. I'm now finding that I can't wait to watch these segments. This guy. Nice also to now hear respect for bass players!
Glenn Campbell played a 6 string bass in his Witchita Lineman song.
He was lookin for another overload. LOL.
@@steven189111 And he's still on the line.
With all the quirky instruments that ovation made it's kinda funny that they didn't throw together a bass vi clone for him
Best Thumping Thursday ever. That was excellent.
Great job Michael, just don’t forget to say what amplifier you are using 😀 I think you’re a great fit for GOTD
Genuinely the best thumpin’ Thursday. Lemmo is taking this show to another level
THAT .... was awesome !!

Guitar of the day rocks now. New songs, interesting instruments, great playing. You're kicking ass Mike! Liked. Subscribed.

No stupid birthday call-outs either! Finally! (I thought we voted against that but the moratorium lasted like a day and a half.)
Lolol aight guys come on mark was fun
That was a cool thumping Thursday way to go Michael and Jen I would have to say that that was a clean-looking machine
Another superb day... you have it!!
Jazzmasters are fantastic. No need to hide your love.
Nice demo, Lemmo! Sounds great! (You're going to seriously challenge some of the song guessers with this all new repertoire!) Great to have a break from the bass-hate too (feigned or otherwise). And I can see it's going to be offsets all the time now! ;)

It's nice to see someone who can actually play the instruments for a change.
Damn son. Well done again! You are killing it.
Michael, you’re doing an awesome job. Glad you’ve taken GOTD and made it your own. You made it look so easy and I’m sure it wasn’t. Kudos dude.
I listened to Mark for the guitar tones (plus of course his inimitable personality), but I'm listening to Michael for the compositions -- plus dude, you're a wild man at heart - kudos!
Dude that first song was killer !
Shaun Davis Amazing skills... and great sound.

Few things I love more than a VI...I’ve got 3. The clean tones are amazing, piano-like.
Incredibly rhythm and timing in your playing.... had to listen to the Demo album cuz Lemmo has been killin it since he took over!
Nice work again Lemmo!!! I'm no bass player, but definitely enjoyed the playing. Keep up the good work.
Great job, Michael. Such a cool sound. John and George played a lot of Bass VI on the later Beatles records. I believe John played it On While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Helter Skelter.
