Interviewed by Mark Campbell and an Irish journalist at the press launch of Series 3 of 'Father Ted' on 18 February 1998. Apologies for the poor quality of the audio.
His guess that Hollywood would probably cast Steve Martin in a Father Ted film is uncannily accurate - Martin was actually attached to play Ted in an American TV series in 2004, though it didn't end up getting made.

@@jackcarter5101 I've watched that episode and it's pretty chilling when you look back on it...he's white as a sheet and looked like he hadn't slept in a week....but like the pro that he was, got it done....

Love how he mentioned Monty Python and the Holy Grail. A genius actor, worked till his death in what he loved and was sure damn good at it! RIP.

An American Father Ted? Fuck off
He died 10 days later
Wow, did you really feel so compelled to leave such a shitty reply on a comment that's merely telling people a sad fact?
Such a sad end to such an amazing show :(
Good lord...he was dead just a week later
He died the day after Going to America was filmed
