Yep agreed.
I was 18 when he died. Seems like a lifetime ago. Just watched a have I got news for you with him in it in 1996. He was the same age that I am now. Mad.
dermot morgan could ve done so much he has got the potential for loads of stuff as it proves right here
The Irish teams joke really shows how much the fortunes of both changed!
Very funny man.
23 years on, Father Ted remains a classic.
Respect from Sunderland (via Belfast)
Yeo, from Belfast too.
So rare to see him as anything other than Father Ted in my little bubble. Thanks for posting!
Brilliant comedy Dermot. Such a handsome Irishman 😍! Gone too soon to be sure!
Can't believe he died the day after they finished filming Father Ted.

Its too sad. 😢 I love Father Ted and never going to stop.
Like Friday night dinner star Paul ritters death I think it was a good thing to stop making episodes of father ted RIP Dermot Morgan 1952-1998
He had completed his mission and it was time for him to go back to his planet
legend of a man, sadly missed
I sobbed hard when I found out he passed away! 💔💔💔 He left the world far too soon.. RIP Demot xxx
was the one thumbs down from bishop brennan "YOU LITTLE BOLLOCKS!" ;-)
Kick 'im up the arse
Or Fr Dick Byrne
What if it was from Haughey or Reynolds?
You address me my my proper title, you little b******* 😂
Yes bollocks 😅
this is Dermot Morgan before he did Father Ted I didn't know he was a stand up but after seeing this I can understand why father ted was such a success this is a great live stand-up performance it does in my top ten live stand-up comedy moments of all time I recently got this in a charity shop where I live in Pinner I got it for £1 fantastic I believe this is the only stand-up film you ever did enjoy
If he'd not passed away he would have ended up headlining Arenas all over the UK.
Amazing how this stands the test of time. Very well done
dermot was hyper in everything...great mimic...he had it all.
AND PROBABLY, THE CAUSE OF HIS UNEXPECTED DEATH.
@@MrDaiseymay he refused to go to see a dr despite the producers and writers of father ted imploring him to do so in one episode of father ted you can see him having a small heart attack. he was not a well man
@@markdaly1903 which episode is that?
It's the episode where he gets a shock and jumps a bit. Frank Kelly said in an interview after dermot died that dermot was on very strong blood pressure medication and coming towards the end of the final series he was very tired looking. I saw the comic relief special he did with ardal o Hanlon and looked awful.
You do see him wince a bit. Its series three
I saw a great doco on Dermot today regarding his life, family and work and Father Ted. He did stand up before anyone knew what it was. I was ecstatic to find this because they talked about his determination to keep creating his comic writing and performance after a cancellation of his show after 3 series. I believe he was quite advanced soul and was striving on another level to put his loving and comedic message out into the world. It was a race to get to Father Ted. And he did it. God bless all who love his genius as I do. RIP💔💙
😂❤️❤️❤️🌹
Hi! What documentary is that? Sounds great
I had my first Guinness around the age of 20, Jesus it took me all night to drink it...Now Caffrey's goes down easy however after the 5th one geeez it felt like the world was spinning a million miles a hour and the next day I swear a bus hit me..
This is really top notch stuff.
R.i.p.dermot thanks for all the laughter top guy
brilliant, this should have more views. R.I.P Dermot
I was planning on watching this and skipping through big chunks just to get a taste of what his live shows were all about (I’m 32 so, only really know Dermot from Fr. Ted) but I just end up sitting back and watching the whole thing!! Really good stuff! Great to see his talent still being recognised!
That Bertie Ahern impression was spot on! RIP Dermot, some man for one man....
Orla Kelly well what's craic were u from
He does a brilliant one of higgins but I can't find.
Pity this intelligent witty man Lord Rest His Soul died so young 😢
Legends never die they live on with laughter
The impression of Michael D is spot on
Left us too soon rip sweet Prince
What an incredible talent , world class
Rip 🙏😞 Dermot Morgan a true legend
ONE LOVE we will meet one day Dermot RIP
Dave Allen delivery definitely and Robin Williams body language
Omg love Dermot morgan and father ted
Such a talent, taken too soon.
Long Live Fr Ted ;p, time for a new show, like a Prequel ... "Fr Ted : The Semenary - Early Years"
Bit dead, though. Would need a new comedian.
TweedleTheDumb reread what I actually said "Prequel there fore easy to cast someone else in the role" ;p
+Ackros Gliceas I'd like to see Bishop Dougall or Cardinal Dougall, i.e. same actor ( O'Hanlon or something i think) plays dougall, appointed to the island district or somewhere else dire because nobody wants to be there, Ted has passed but is a voice in Dougalls head - wonder if anyone from Dermots family sounds the same ?
Graham linehan and Arthur Matthews ended thier ten year creative partnership after father Ted came to an end
+Mark Daly linehan and matthews went to trinity or ucd. both wrote for hot press. they both moved to London. but it wasn't until they rented an apartment whose landlord turned out to be Geoffrey Perkins. that they started to write together. but separately they had be submitting stuff to Smith and jones from the late eighties.
He's got Christy Moore down to a tee.
Down with this sort of thing!
Careful now! 😁
1 of the best in Ireland Rip leggend
So sad...you left too soon. RIP
Pure talent
BBC has just released a press release to confirm a Father Ted musical is being made. It's official.
Best Irish comic ever!
@@rogerlapin9809 The Irish comedy scene is very very ordinary nowadays in comparison. The impressionists only copying him from what he done in the '80's, and then his material was original, doing Reynolds, P.Flynn, and Jimmy Magee!

Four years before his fatal heart attack, but you can already hear how very out of breath Dermot was in this performance. Never put it off, or ignore signs, or avoid asking basic questions of your doctor.
I love when he says 'you know what rave is don't you?' And some auld one shouts 'no' from the audience.
RIP Dermot
Wow, Dermot was even more talented and hilarious than even Father Ted could showcase. His acting skills add so much to this performance and his ability to play completely different characters (the misogynistic French teacher was another universe away from his Devil Bono). We saw so much magnificence from him but for such a short time. I never heard his radio show but apparently that was incredible too.
Legend
23.19 such a good imitation of president Micky d Higgins

Legend.RIP FR.TED
2:17 yes.
that's hot.
Wow
Funny to think Michael D is now president. His impersonations were dead on. Comic gold :)
I thought he was the Pink Power Ranger from the thumbnail.
I think father ted was filmed in 1995 until 1998 before his death after the death of dept Morgan they had a funeral during father ted airs on 6th march 1998 after the funeral of Dermot Morgan, he was cremated his ashes are buried in the plot Morgan family in deansgrange cemetery in Dublin
Wot a performer, one man show
7.45 Dermot Morgan’s impersonation of Micheal McIntyre
6:29 the irish era in the 1st div/pl soon to be replaced by other johnny foreigners.
What a hero! This show never ever gets old. :)
Would anyone happen to know the name of the song he's using for his Bono bit? :P
The joke about the Irish soccer team winning their games has not aged well haha
8 Langford knackers voted it down
Sadly missed what a funny funny Man.
The soccor and rugby gag didn't hold up super well
4.45 how things have changed 🤣
Dermot's joke about the Irish Rugby team and Football team is so strange today. It's been flipped on its head The Rugby team are so much better than the Football team these days! 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Can you imagine how bad Roy Keane would take this now
Gone far too soon
Them shoes are the buisness
We miss the days of free speech. Try that in 2023. Morgan was an utter legend. RIP.
⚠️ red shoes???
Gonna get slammed for this but I didn't find this funny at all....Loved Father Ted, loved it, respect the writers and actors so much and I so so wanted to love this....first time I've seen his stand up and thought I was settled for an hour and a half of comedy gold....but oh no, dear lord...it's like amateur student comedy from the 80s....possibly because I don't know the irish personalities referred to, so in that regard I'm perfectly prepared to be shot down in flames for my iconoclasm. :-) Anyone have any links to other material he has performed? My searches have provided scant return...:-) Still reckon he's a legend of the first order.
Alex, if you don't know the characters who he's mimicking then clearly you're not going to find it particularly entertaining. The audience are clearly enjoying it.
That is understandable. Dermot was well known at home for his Saturday morning radio sketch show (also featuring Pauline McLynn) where he quite brilliantly lampooned these same politicians, so this is what the crowd would expect in his live show. He was a very funny man.
That crowd was dreadful.
Dermot was great as Ted, but this stand-up routine is awful. It’s not remotely funny or observant.
It’s just dated a bit and is made for an Irish audience. The talent still comes through.
He came across as a lovely man xx
