If you put the pin on string, long enough to sit in the seat and drop the pin in the hitch, it works a ton, I see a lot of ladys on tractors use this technique, lol thanks BigAl California
😮 I love mowing here with the narrow front end he used to use a wd45 Allis Chalmers and a New Holland 496 haybine I love that hand clutch also we had a Farmall super M and A Farmall m the M would not pick up the hay by him because it wasn't the right cylinder that Allis Chalmers was so comfortable to drive special with being on it for so many hours but there was always one of my favorite times was cutting hay just get in your mindset and go
I'm glad it was easy to fix. Hope the weather holds up for you. Looks like a good job so far. Looking forward to seeing Freddie on the rake. Hope you start feeling better soon. See you later.
Oh the joys of getting in the field for the first time of the year. It doesn't matter if you are working ground up to plant or planting or cutting hay or getting the combine in the field. You think you have everything just right and things will just not play ball till you get a couple of days in and then everything magically finds it's sweet spot and rocks on. I have been there so many times myself. Great video Ross, thanks for sharing. I can tell that you are still pained with that cold. I hope you can shake it and get to feeling better.
Mountain Dew needs to sponsor this channel, just start putting cans of it in all of the vlogs ,and then all At once take them out of the vlogs , and then they will be calling as if you want to be sponsored from. Mountain Dew, lol thanks BigAl California, far-fetched,lol thanks Buddy
I really miss making hay, it was one of my pleasures. I have so many good memories with my grandpa out in the field making hay, even if my allergies were horrible and it was blistering hot stacking idiot blocks on the wagon.
Great video Ross. It's just amazing to me how a little speck of dirt can fowl up the day. But hey if we didn't have those issues what a perfect day we would have. Things just have to test us. Good luck with getting the hay off the field. Hope for a few good days of weather. Thanks for sharing.
Another way to do the first round is take tractor out by the fence. Nice you getting something done. Yes it been raining alot but hood you nt getting the tornados. Thx Ross look for your videos everyday
Great video thanks for sharing. You amaze me with your mechanical skills! Not very many farmers could take a carburetor off and repair it on the tractors step and platform!
Hey, you got her going, those Marvel Schebler's are fairly easy to work on! My MF 65 had the screen on the elbow get clogged and I also had a cracked bowl on the JD 1020, had to replace the entire carburetor. I miss the old haybines, the 70's was the first one I ran, a Hesston PT10 and then a JD 1209. Then in 2004 got another 1209 and ran it for about 8 or 9 years, then went to a discbine. Good video, I liked it a lot. Thanks good luck on the hay and have a good evening!
I like my Heston for the most part I think I would change shield for easier servicing and make the header shoes heavier and easier to adjust. But it does just as good a job mowing as any body else's mower. Buddy's a good boy!
I see that I am not the only one that has " fun " when it is time to cut hay. Every time I mention the word hay my TD80 give fuel trouble. 1 time it took 5 days to cut 15 arces my cutter kept breaking
I like to slather the bowl gasket with grease. Usually it will keep it from sticking. Also you can't have enough filtration on modern fuels. I know you like original but sediment bowls aren't enough for consistency. I have been using a small boat spin on filter housing with a water trap. Less than $30 ebay
A fuel filter needs to be installed just before the carburetor. Never had a farmer who complained about cutting 4" out of the fuel line to install an inline fuel filter so that they could change it easily and avoid a service call. Another old trick to clear stoppage in the fuel needle valve is to reverse 2 plug wires to make the engine backfire a couple of times. The pressure of the backfire will usually blow any obstructions out of jets or needle seats. Not a permanent fix but something that will buy time. Maybe you should get a 50-gallon truck bed fuel tank with a hand pump to put in the back of the super cheap truck and buy gasoline when you fill your truck tank. Sure would be much easier and more economical than running to town to buy 3 five gallon gas containers. Love the smell of fresh-cut hay. We had a customer who had a dog that would run in front of hay-cutting equipment and the combine in hopes that a rabbit would come running out. The rabbits usually lost the race and the dog was not as hungry when they got back home.
HI ROSS 😊😊 most likely trash or water 💦 😮 gas tractors don't run on water Ross U need 2 start using a long neck funnel and a old shirt strain the gas be 4 U use that will catch the trash and any water 💦 😊/😊🎉 OMG 5 3O 2O24
I know he doesn't like it, but you kneed to tie Buddy up when cutting hay. One of the best old hound dogs we ever had lost a leg from a sickle bar mower.
Both Ross and Buddy have been around the equipment their whole life and Ross watches for him. And if you pay close attention buddy is pretty careful to
To me there’s something satisfying and peaceful about mowing hay.😊
If you put the pin on string, long enough to sit in the seat and drop the pin in the hitch, it works a ton, I see a lot of ladys on tractors use this technique, lol thanks BigAl California
Nothing like a good ol Hesston haybine.

You are a talented young man to be able to diagnose and correct a carb problem in the field. Nice job!
😁I ENJOY THE AROMA OF NEW MOWN HAY 👍👍thanks
Nice ,,a brake of sadness, I.e cutting brake , ,,, good job, freind, thanks BigAl California.
Thanks For another great video Ross!

The sadness and struggle is real . No matter see cause we have the technology to overcome . Great video Ross , see ya tomorrow
Great video thanks for sharing. You amaze me with your mechanical skills! Not very many farmers could take a carburetor off and repair it on the tractors step and platform!
An in-field troubleshoot, nice!
You need gas fuel in the tank ,or keep the twekers out of the tank, lol thanks BigAl California.

love it
I could watch equipment work all day
I enjoyed this, Ross! One of my favorite jobs was cutting hay/straw on the farm. BUDDY!!! 🐕
Nice video Ross, love to watch field work.
Operation normal Big Chief that is my life one step forward and 20 steps back
Still a nice 1650. Would love to have one someday. 👍👍👍👍👍

Glad you got some hay cut, thanks for the video hope you feel better soon.

Love the subtle advertisement 😜 for mt.dew lol. You the can even matches the Oliver.
The long walk,,,,, been there. You are entertaining my friend.
I got my hay mowed finally yesterday. I don't have any Oliver's that will run a disc mower so I had to use the 5711 massey ferguson.
Oh boy Ross you have a sad sad farm 😔but someday you will prevail.
What gear are you mowing in
Sure!
Careful Buddy haha he goes almost every round with you doesn't he? It's a little wet in there along the woods looks like.
Well ya have a brake of gladeness and one of sadness. The three tractors I had growing up on, only one tractor out of the three had any brakes at all.
I know the feeling of no success. Out of 9 tractors I'm down to 1 useful one.
I just had to do this a few weeks ago to a ford 4000 so I could cut my food plots
Wondering why you don't use a wide front tractor when cutting hay? Running a narrow front would seem to knock leaves off the hay.
Makin Hay .SEE

Always some gremlin to spoil things but steady progress made hope it stays fine for you
Where's the fuel filter?
I think it would be better to use a standard tractor!
I had water in my gas the other day

I used to like the smell of fresh cut hay until you have to pick up all the bales

Yes, you charge up my ole feeble mind. Hey, put a fuel filter on that tractor so ya don"t have to tear down the carb.
I’m looking for someone to cut hay from my yard
I'm not a lover of neoprene needles& seats
You have sadness alot just cutting back hay. Why aren't you using a diesel tractor? Freddy would have worked good for mowing
