Morning Tyler Another wonderful video. A great Tune Up Job. Sound very good old Tractor need a refreshing parts. Those Tie Rod yes need replacing very bad. That Tractor sound good.. You going have a new tractor in minute. Am very proud of you. Am sure your grandpa smile down at.😍 Thanks for sharing. You & family have a blessed safe weekend.
I love your Jubilee! My first tractor experience was on a Massey which was basically the same tractor. I am also glad you are putting her to work as my great uncle was in the past.
Compression test, Vacuum leaks, and timing. Some older industrial use engines came with harden valve seats, but if your old tractor didn't....the use of unleaded gas will have a negative effect on the seating of the valves over time. Otherwise, like my Grandma use to say....."You can take Grandpa to the gym all you want, he'll get better....but he ain't never gonna be 21 again". :D
Add just a dap of grease to the ends of your spark plug wires. It helps stop corrosion and condensation from building in the cap or on the plugs. That noise could just be a valve adjustment. Those old tractors were built to burn leaded gas (to stop knocking and valve chatter) and to last a lifetime. You should be able to get an additive at the auto parts store.
Great information and how to on this tune up 👍. Working on that old for is much easier than working on my 2001 Ford F150 it has a lot more plastic and emissions junk in the way LoL. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend.
@@farmertylerranch4399 Amen to that for sure 2 hours of plastic removal 1 spark plug and coil pack 5 mins of real work and 2 more hours of plastic reinstalling and head scratching LoL.
Nice job on the tutorial. Either way, that was something that needed to be done. Especially after you showed the condition of the cap & rotor. Stay safe.
as a old marine engine mechanic retired. so many things can lead you to the problem. if available, I would do a compression test and the condition of all 4 plugs you removed. it may be wise to give the carb a cleaning since these old tractors sit for long periods of time. not exactly sure what you were hearing or feeling...... love your vids and I'm new.
Thanks Marshall and welcome! Yes a compression test is something I’ve been wanting to do. Carb was fully rebuilt about a month ago, I’m leaning towards a valve issue? We’ll see
since you got new spark plug wires i hope you got the ones for electronic ignition, as they need to be replaced in a conversion as well. as well reolace the coil to ann electronic ignision coil, when you buy the conversion kit all this comes with it, if you dont have the right coil it will blow it.. been there,
It did sound a bit better. I didn’t make out the drag you described, but starting with fuel filter might be easiest. I can’t remember if you already replaced it or not?
@@farmertylerranch4399 - That is what is kinda fun about working on old machinery. It's like a mystery game and when the problem is found and fixed it's pretty satisfying.

great vid . i have the same ford and am rebuilding every thing .i am now at the tie rods and having trouble getting them to fit.so ill be watching ,maybe iv got the wrong parts.
Had the same problem on my Ford 600...sounded like an exhaust leak and it was losing power....ended up being the wire coming out of the distributor was grounding out on the inside of the distributor . ...

tyler did you clean thepoints as they have s light coating of grease on them run a small piece if card board between the pionts check the timing with a timing light
Old Iron always need attention, I'm sure you looked/shook the distributor shaft end. The bush/bear gets warn and can wobble may be part of the reason for the marks in the cap and can add to an idle issue. Just an arm chair opinion..LOL I think one of your neighbors was burning the rice fields a couple of days ago....smoke was heavy for a while up here at the 350' level....LOL Grandpa would proud keep her running!!
Thanks Robert yeah it felt tight but you’re right that would explain that unusual wear on the cap. Very well could have been, they’re either burning or stomping away down here!

Do you have a parts list for the tune up kit? I've been finding more than one item when I do my search. Thanks! Great video!

DIELECTRIC GREASE IS PREFERABLE TO REGULAR GREASE.
@@jeffryblackmon4846 you are correct. Grease will break down the rubber spark plug boots. Silicon based dielectric is best. 👍👌✌️

Did you put some lubricant on the distributor cam to prevent points rubbing block wear? Engine sounded normal to me.
Nice job! I have one question, what number was the Autolite Spark plugs?
Thanks for the step by step instructions, you make it very interesting!

what kind of oil do you put on that distributor on the opening on the outside, and how much, thanks

Not all people like the electronic igniting . They can fail .. Just ask Farmal Fananic
