A good way I've found to keep wavy hair back all day, is let it dry with a baseball hat hat. And I don't even use any product to hold it down, this worked when my hair was over 6 in long on top. Keep in mind I've been combing my hair back for about 3 years so it's naturally lays back a little easier now
Hi I'm a new subscriber from Philippines 🇵🇭. I'm *really really obsessed* with this hair style. I've already tried this but unfortunately I have wavy hair, wavy to curly hair. I usually use hair clay style but my country has a *high humid* thus it keeps me sweat and *hard to keep my hair style all day.* I really want to try this tips, thank you and keep safe!
I have wavy hair in the front. What I do is blow dry, then flat iron my hair so it’s straight, than use a oil based pomade because it keeps my hair in place and straight better than water based products.
Do you flat iron daily? I tried it a couple of times and it works just fine, however, it annoys me that I'd have to do it every day after showering, which isn't worth it imo and might even damage the hair. I also try to blow dry it as straight as possible but somehow I think my technique sucks, as, while my hair gets straighter, it also tends to get stick out more and becomes more frizzy and in the end I have a poofier look than I'd want, so I probably do something wrong there (even though I try to immitate what the salon guy does in his videos about it^^). Gott try out an oil based pomade though.
@@CleymanYT I flat iron mine everyday just about, unless I don’t get my hair wet than I don’t have to the next day. I use heat protectant spray every time I use my iron. Just blow drying my hair doesn’t work, it always curls back up again no matter the technique. It sounds like you need to use conditioner everyday since your hair gets frizzy. Conditioner helps with that.
Thank you for saving my hair. I suspected but didn't realize how much I was damaging my wavy hair with thick pomade. Explains why it didn't hold as well
Great.. Especially useful on hot humid days.. Even if one has rather straight hair.. I used to apply the same after washing when my hair was of similar length just without that disconnected undercut..
I just use a cap then in few minutes I get a straight hair without products and it's very cheap way to style regardless this method, it looks like a nice product to use :)
have thick wavy hair myself and whenever i make a slickback my hair is so thick it looks like i have a helmet on or a mushroom on my head it just poofs up.. Any tips on how to counter this effect? Like when u have straight hair it sits so nice and smooth but waves just makes it almost impossible untill its really long and still wet when applieng product..
Can you talk about hair health. Specifically on the usage of hair products and how you shouldn't sleep with it on but its not good to shampoo or even wet your hair everyday. Its a bit of a paradox so I'm very confused.
It's different for every person. Generally speaking sleeping with products in doesn't really do anything besides make your hair a bit greasy feeling. In most cases having your hair wet every day is perfectly fine. The shampoo thing varies too. Some people only wash a couple times a week. Some have to wash daily. There are no universal hair health facts that apply to every person at the same time.
@@StrappingYoungLadam from what I have read and heard. Sleeping with product in your hair ends up clogging the pores and when your hair is wet, the cuticle is raised leaving it in a more fragile state till it dries. And the more circumstances you wet your hair, you have yet another chance to damage it since it is weaker. And for the shampoo thing I've heard that it is very unhealthy to shampoo everyday as it takes away natural oils and gives less chance for sebum to keep hair healthy, thus usually drying it out. Do you have any sited work or studies that I could see in reference to your comment? For reference I have medium to high density and curly hair.
@@yourgreat9055 I don't specifically have studies but I have references the salon guy has made in past videos and personal experience. When it comes to the shampooing the reason I say it varies person to person is not everyone's hair builds up oil as fast as others. Some individuals like myself take a day or 2 to start looking oily so I'll wash about 2-3 times a week. Some people shampoo their hair and by the next morning the roots are already oily so they need to wash again. The reason shampooing every day for some people doesn't dry out their hair is because they likely use conditioner which replaces most of the oils and nutrients washed out with the shampoo. Oils can also be added afterwards if one feels they need then as well. I will say yes it is true that hair is more fragile when it's wet, but it's not so fragile that the slightest thing will break it. It then stands to reason that as long as you aren't rough on your hair it's not going to matter how often it gets wet. If that mattered you'd have people blow-drying their hair every time they got sweaty. As far as the sleeping with product in your hair yes it is true it can clog your pores on your scalp. With that though it's only going to happen if you have a ton and I mean a TON of product caked into your hair close to your scalp for a long while. Which again, as long as you're washing often enough for your hair that won't become an issue.
Yo please can you do a videos on the bit on the back of your head that sticks up. So like how to get it flat and how to do it on yourself. I hope you can do this I would really appreciate it Please ant thank you as I’ve been trying this for ages
Mr. Salon Guy, Thank you for your video, it is rather insightful however I do have a few questions for you. I am to attend a fancy black tie event in minneapolis in the coming months. I will need to be able to slick my hair back as not to look like the Alaskan trail cutter that I am (litterally had to chop a tree to move through a game trail a matter of weeks ago). What would you recommend in terms of product? My hair is extremely curly and I typically wet it down in the morning to give it a good shape and then let the curls disperse from there. I won't personally want to run my fingers through my hair with the product on but as I am an ginger and their will be attractive ladies at the cocktail party it may not be possible to avoid such finger-through-my hair running.
which would you recommend between ICE pomade or Shadow cream for maximum hold on thick wavy hair? you mentioned Shadow in this one but ICE in another, I’m just curious which to buy.
Please do ian somerhalder haircut and how to style it (the medium or short haircut) , I’ve seen the old video but it was with long hair and kindda different not the regular ian hairstyle, thank you sir ♥️
Does doing this to hair that doesn't grow naturally able to do this risk losing hair earlier? I've seen stuff on that talking about sticking hair back causing hair loss.
@nick kerr if u wash ur hair with water daily it's not that bad but don't use products daily it can clog ur pores I would say if u are using products daily and washing ur hair daily with water stop it's bad for ur hair use products when ur going out or some where and wash ur hair when u feel it getting dirty and itchy
Salon guy I had a question about Shampoos. In the long term is it bad in a major way to continue use Laureth sulfate shampoos? It doesn't cause any irritation for me, I'm just asking for the split end part people talk about. If I get half an inch trim every 2-3 months and j continue using it if non sulfate products are hard for me to find, is that okay?
Actully clay will allow you to control hair, position it and allow you to run you fingers through it. Clay is best for slickback. Creams don't work that well

the undercut is better I done it before I when I started slicking my hair back so that helps and using the suavecito pomade too keep the slick back
