I believe Amador is rain fed so muddies after a big rainstorm. Camanche and Pardee get fed when the snow melts. This could also explain why one lake would drop more during the summer than another. Just a thought...
Thanks RodFather for showning the uncle ed knot tyin tool it works great! Ive got ol busted up knuckles and carpel tunnel degraded hands that make it harder and harder to tye simple knots so using something that makes tyin a alberto knot that fast and perfect everytime is priceless!
Hey Mr. Fong, I love your new site. We've been needing this for N CA. Thanks. One question is about Berryessa. When I was in my twenties (8ties and early 90's, I used to put a minnow under a bobber and on those rocks by the dam and catch trout. Is that still an effective method. I don't have a boat. We used to catch catfish in the cove next to that and bass on the points of that cove. Thanks again
I used to do that at Folsom and I'm sure it will work! Berryessa in the last few years has been tough as when we had the drought years something went wrong with that lake. I've read lots articles about what could of happened and one issue was the oxygen. I used to see trout jumping all over the lake when it turned over and now nothing.
8" dodger with a pearl hoochie. This Monday I'm putting out a video on how I set my hoochies up on the dodger for land lock kings. I'm showing how I rig my hoochies and they catch fish!

On the Sac side when the river clears up. Watch for the Sac river height and when it drops down and clears up it should get good. I'll be going to the San Joaquin side trying for stripers next week as the water is clear on that side.
We mounted a kicker on the transom and the steering linkage hit the steering bracket on the main motor and we couldn't turn. Had to unhook it and bend it but could only turn so far. And the bite was early and we still hooked ten salmon
If you want you can come sit at the dock and fish with me. Huge Carp Cats Crappie N Bass. We can chum the carp. Come on your on the mend. I have two Big Chairs We Could Eat Some Crab 🦀. It’s not a date Fong … so don’t bring a candle. Just long fishing pole twelve pound test has worked for me on the Bass N Crappie. Carp N Cats ?
I live close to Garcia bend park and go there almost everyday and I noticed they removed a large piece of equipment. Maybe good news for access to the ramp soon. ?

All the mother lode lakes drain down to the next lake like Hogan, Camanche, Pardee to Amador? My thoughts
With all the murky/high waters in the Sacramento River, the sturgeon bite should be really good.
Yes the Sac river is very high and I see lots anglers at Merritt Island to Hood sturgeon fishing. It's the time of year for sturgeon fishing.

Glad to help and yes it's easy with that tool

Berryessa might have finally turned over this morning according to the SCWA monitoring site.
Thanks

I hope the water conditions clear by april for the hot striper run.
Spring run might be a little late but i bet it going to be good.
Hey Alan what depths were you marking the salmon at folsom? Thanks.
30 to 60 feet in the morning they are shallow and as the sun come up they mover into deeper water.
Alan, thanks for the fishing update. Are you going to be doing any seminars at the upcoming Sac Boat/RV show?
No I am not but on March 9th I'll be doing one at Johnson's bait n tackle along with some other speakers.
What type of gear did you use to catch the Folsom salmon? Thanks

Berryessa good with 6 inch visibilty? Wow
main lake over a foot and in narrows even more visibility
When do you think the striper bite will pick up?
On the Sac side when the river clears up. Watch for the Sac river height and when it drops down and clears up it should get good. I'll be going to the San Joaquin side trying for stripers next week as the water is clear on that side.
Probably mid to late March around Sac, water still too high and muddy with more rain coming. Bait fishing 'really close' to shore may work.
Why was it difficult in the whaler?
We mounted a kicker on the transom and the steering linkage hit the steering bracket on the main motor and we couldn't turn. Had to unhook it and bend it but could only turn so far. And the bite was early and we still hooked ten salmon
Right on I see. One other thing I definitely appreciate and think it’s super cool that you take the time to respond to everyone.
Nice report. What’s wrong with the whaler?
Mounted a kicker and the steering rod hit the main motor and would not turn lol
@@AlanFong ah. My kicker is fixed. I just use the bf75 as a rudder.
