It might be that I haven't been listening to them for their whole ride, but I love this just as much as their older music. I dont care if they are generic or unique, if it makes good sounds, it's good to me.
This song just has a feeling about it that it could be HUGE, so keen for the new album

Wasn't expecting that. Feels like they were given the freedom to experiment after switching labels and this just happen to come out. Not bad, just new and unexpected from them. I like how each song has been different and they've been able to try new things beginning with Drift. If I want their old style, it's not like the old albums are no longer there.
This is different......it is not bad but I really loved the sound they had going on in the dissonants album! For me that's the best post hardcore album ever recorded! I guess it will be one of its kind but here's to hoping they will return back to that sound!! (My opinion entirely) nonetheless keep rocking Hands like houses! will support you guys no matter what!

A lot of negative comments here, but for a pop-rock/pop-punk fan who discovered the band not too long ago, and saw a live show a few months ago, this song is absolutely addictive. CAN'T STOP LISTENING, IT PUMPS ME UP :D

I keep seeing people complaining about the new sound, but I find that these vocals are the best thing I've ever heard and the instrumentals are still heavy and keep you up and moving. Just my opinion.

Been seeing lots of comments on how generic this is and how their new sound sucks. As an artist, it's ridiculously draining repetitively creating the same content. You start to feel as though you've hit a wall and become insecure in your work. Whether this is a permanent change we have to let Hands work on their art in their own way and not force them to conform to us wanting their older style. It our jobs as fans to support them. Fantastic song, cheers boys.
It really annoys me when HLH fans come in and say that the whole album is gonna suck, even though it hasn’t come out yet. I understand if you don’t enjoy one song, but I’m sure we all can name at least one song on an otherwise amazing album that we didn’t enjoy. Sure, lyrically, this song isn’t anything special, but it’s a nice gritty rock track for the sake of being a rock track, and I like it. If you don’t like this one song, don’t assume that you won’t like the rest of the album. This has the potential to be their best work to date, as all albums do before their release. You might love the whole album with the exception of this one song.

i fucking agree!!!!! I commented on this and some guy asked me how they've lost their genius lyricism- this is the evidence!
Yeah, it's a bit sad. I don't really like using Ground Dweller as an example for their lyricism, because so much of it was based off of other material and honestly it sounded like they traded flow and melody for sheer poetry. But, even compared to Unimagine and Dissonants, which both to me have a very good balance in the lyrics, this just sounds really uninspired. Which sucks because HLH has been one of my favorite bands since I found them.

I discovered Hands Like Houses in 2014 when I was 14. The lyrics were so complex and beautiful, I'd pull up the lyrics on Google and ponder on the messages they were trying to portray because they weren't always obvious. My favourite album is Dissonants, but Ground Dweller was art. I love this song, I really do, I'll love them no matter what, but the lyrics have become bland and not as raw as they used to be. You can't compare this song as having the same passion as The Sower or my personal favourite Lion Skin- or Antartica! I really hope Hands Like Houses brings out more lyrical masterpieces. That being said I mean it when I say I love the song and I'll listen to it endlessly (It's already been on repeat)! Bands have to move in new directions to gain popularity, I understand that, but did they have to lose their lyrical genius on the way?

Lion Skin
Coming from me a guy who plays in a rock band too. We definitely pull from influences and that bleeds thru in our tunes, but nothing near this. When I hear an already fairly big sized band turn to this niche i wonder why. It just puzzles me because SWS did this, BMTH, and HLH is now doing this and many others have as well. It may even be to sell more and to appeal to a broader audience but I feel if less bands did this it’d happen less from other bands of similar size. I think if the general shift was towards less linear more original music. Less commonplace melodies and general sound > it would permeate and people would still like it. It would challenge bands in a different way. What happened to wanting to go against the tide? Wanting to be different in a pool of similar bands with similar sounds? Not saying it’s bad but it’s not for me. Sorry to rant.

@@jamesfalcon2900 only the guitar has a similar chord progression and rhythmic interval, i was talking more about all elements of this song, drums/guitar/vocal melody etc. not the same just very similar feel. merely an observation, i really like both songs!

The more singles come out, the less it sounds like what I was expecting. This is really neat and they seem to really want to explore what they can do with their sound. And you know what, I'm on for the ride! Can't wait for _-Anon._ ! Might have some cleverer stuff in store too (I can only hope)!

Wow, people really don't like change do they?? Suck it up folks, Life just doesn't slow down because you don't like a new direction. Life changes, things change, people change, perspectives change, styles change. You can't expect something "New" and yet also expect it to be the "same". It don't work like that.
As somebody who's still relatively new to this group, I've heard some of their older stuff and heard a good portion of the new stuff and honestly, both are fine to me. They grab me for various reasons and honestly a band that's willing to exit their comfort zone and venture off into new territory are those who can truly call themselves as "artists".
Hell yes! Loving it. If you like old HLH you get overthinking if you truly like HLH you appreciate something new with monster. These guys can do no wrong. Sounds great and sounds like #anon will have variety of sound and I am totally down for that. Keep it up!
