To the members of the team, I first want to thank you guys so much for expressing ideas that are usually unknown and undesirable in the consumer heavy societies we live in. I have actually taken one of your videos in the political playlist and transformed it into an extensive essay used to get into graduate school(I got accepted). However, I have one lingering concern about the maybe bias content of your videos. Namely, this channel seems to focus on the psychology of behaviors associated with the many things humans experience, granted that this channel focuses on that. But given the actual content of what you present, I find that a broadened approach to the topics would be fruitful. For example, including eastern ideas about experience and existence, since, as some claim, western ideologies as the source of western problems(in contrast with vestigial biological systems)-----> This would be, in some cases, the antithesis of your videos. Like this video for example, Eastern thought holds that the self that we identify with is not real and is just constructed for social convention. A simple argument(but arguable ) one eastern scholar (Alan watts) made is that improving one's is never possible because the self that you see to be higher or a better version of you (the second self) must already be you in order for you to become it. Its like the principle of non-contradiction or a version of reductionsim. In another way, the version of yourself that needs improving will be improved by the same version of yourself that needs to be improved in the first place. So if one succeed in 'improving', then one was already the version of themselves that they wanted to be necessarily. Though, you could make the argument that changes in behavior are a key aspect of improving, in this case, one isnt improving, one is just changes one's behavior and its neither good nor bad---> Because the maladaptive tendencies and addiction and so on, are natural. They are what the everything is doing. If it were not meant to be, then it would not be. The myth that there is some thing wrong is simply that. I know it will be unlikely for a response to this, but leave a like or dislike to notify me that this was read. It would be greatly appreciated
Y’all ever notice when you talk to yourself, there’s the version of you that knows what’s right, and the version of you that isn’t so sure and must be shaped by the first one?
So after watching this 2 years ago, I started working on becoming a coder, I did courses and started applying to jobs everywhere. My second self is the "greatest programmer ever" (That I can be), well it worked! Right now am a junior developer but I plan to become a senior developer in the next 1 year or so. On that path are certifications and the like. I will let you guys know how well it will work. 1-year edit: So am now a Lead architect!! I'll keep you guys in the loop! The next goal is to work for top 100 company!
This strikes me as similar to what I've heard people refer to as "contemplation of the sage," wherein you visualize how you think the ideal person would react and behave in various situations.
I wasn’t aware that this had a name but it’s what I’ve been doing for years. As silly as it is, I visualize what Yoda, Iroh or Master Oogway would do in different situations. What wisdom they’d offer.
Second self can also be referred to as your higher self(best self). The higher self has always been there but quietened by programming and life events. You can become your higher self once you start to take care of yourself and your health ( Sculpt your ideal self). Sending tons of positive energy out there. Amazing video. Stay winning stay woke.🌱✨
Ever since I've watched your videos, they've had the eerie effect of answering life long doubts and questions I've had about myself, reality society and my place in it. Every time you upload a new video I hesitate to click on it and it always bugged me. I would procrastinate for hours, days, or weeks to click on them. But when I inevitably do, it always holds the answer or articulate what I'm feeling into a way for me to comprehend and take a course of action. You've single handily made me realize how vital and overlooked philosophy is!
As my great teacher said, "Personality is a lie. A personality is just a set of habits, of perceptual filters and feelings and behaviors that you gotten used to because you use them a lot'.
I was contemplating last night about how when we are told to "Be yourself. Don't try to be anyone else.", it contradicts what one is attempting to do when on a journey of self discovery and improvement. If one is aiming to become something/someone greater than they currently are, in whatever way, whatever their motivation may be, it's necessary to look to those who have laid the path before you and emulate them in whatever ways are most relevant in order to build better habits, perspectives, processes...ways of being. So what is one to do? I posed the question to a friend and her answer was quite poignant... "Who even knows who the hell they are exactly!?" What a conundrum! This video is well timed.
I disagree. I think being yourself just means being honest and saying what's on your mind, being confident enough to show your quirks and not second guess yourself on what you say because you are not trying to impress anyone or be like someone else. Self-discovery and improvement done out of self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-value will always trump any effort to change the core of who you are.
For me, "be yourself" means to find and act upon the essence of our original divine soul. To strip away the part of us who is not us but a shadow overlapping our true self, a shadow created by growing up around family and in a society who is constantly telling us who we should be. This happens at both a conscious and unconscious level. The more introspective I am, the more I chip away at what isn't me and find the person I have always been. So for me, my second self is really just my original self. The pure energetic being that came from the cosmos, from the source of all that is.
Maybe "be yourself" doesn't mean to be your first self, but to realize (make real) your second self, the self that you genuinely choose to be, and not the default 1st self...
well we are always in flow so knowing who exactly who we are changes from moment to moment. But in recent years I have found that spending solid amounts with myself and talking to myself as a friend has elicited many answers and great self understanding and to face elements of shadow I might otherwise have avoided. I believe the development of the alter ego is helpful as the place we wish to move to. Since we are dynamic we have to flow in one direction or another. A carefully crafted second self (which might have nothing to do with self agrandissement but.could simply focus on - say - self compassion) is a waymarker. Just a view.
Neville Godard talks about this in his "Act as if" lessons. The more time you can be in your desired Self mode, the more you will internalize these behaviors and will make them natural. The subconscious works with images and feelings so this technique is very usefull for change your personality. I even have my own mental mastermind round table, when I need to think some business strategy, I sit in my mind with my marketing heroes ( Jay Abraham, Phillip Kotler...etc) and imagine what they would make in these situations.
YESSSS!!!!! 7 years ago - I began writing a novel about a travelling carnival. I wrote all the character development and rolls set within the first couple chapters and closed the book: Saying; 'I have to go live the story now'. Alas, through these 7 years - I have met all these people in person! Even living alongside a confused circus - completely 'by chance'. This whole way through - eye wrote a second series about my inner world self and outer observations. Developing mine own character; while living half in a dream and half in a shared reality... This, was a lovely reminder of such illuminations and veils to the next layer of uncovery! Thank you
I was medically retired from the Army after I was blown up and shot. I was an Infantry Squad Leader, and prided myself on my leadership, strength and tenacity. Once retired I had to make a new self because all the parts of me that existed were either dead or not acceptable in a civilized society. I went back to school, and ended up with an MBA; however, during that period my biggest adversary was time. When the semesters ended, I’d often find myself with time... Then the self-suppressive escapism I used to deal with my experiences would surface. I have a new persona, but sometimes the old “me” does come out. I’m going to carry a coin, and see if I can “flip” myself back and forth. Interesting concept.
I have so many sides of myself. Like, different personalities. And it helps you diversify you perception of things to find the truth. If you're only one way all the time, or only think one way, or only hang around one type of person, you can't know if it's best or the worse. The truth, or just what you like.
I think the second self, if u have realistic goals to become better but not become someone completly different, is the true self because it represents ur potential if u reduce unnecessary obstacles such as anxiety fear of death etc. The goal of having a second self is to become better not someone else. It is like u are an unpolished gem but the second self polishes u but u don t become another gem it just reveals who you were all long.
I've been a drug smoking failure literally my entire life. Currently trying to kick my marijuana addiction and dealing with insomnia. These videos are so rich, thought provoking, and helpful. Thanks. Sincerely.
Marijuana addiction is one of the toughest mental challenges but i did it n you can too. Theres lots of solutions to insomnia as well try not being in your bed or room if your going to sleep
@@Mickeycuatropatas psychedelics can possibly invite more problems.... i recommend learning more about spiritualism. Drugs are a shortcut and there is no such thing
@@cindyl3297 set and setting are very essential when taking psychedelics - Johns Hopkins Medical School has a lot of research in this area. I drink ayahuasca with very spiritual indigenous of South America and find it to be one of the best experiences in my life.
Using a double self could be productive, but abusing it is dangerous to a degree. Kierkegaard warned of it before: “Thus when the ambitious man, whose slogan was "Either Caesar or nothing", does not become Caesar, he is in despair over it. But this signifies something else, namely, that precisely because he did not become Caesar he now cannot bear to be himself. Consequently he is not in despair over the fact that he did not become Caesar, but he is in despair over himself for the fact that he did not become Caesar.”
This journey then is for those who can already not bear to be themselves. But also, as is mentioned, it is not necessary to become an exact replica of those we wish to emulate, just to strive to become more than we are.
I feel we just have to separate outside goals from internal ones, if you setup a double self to become an Oscar winner it might lead to dissatisfaction, but if you set it up to improve as let's say an actor, I don't see any danger. As long as the results are dictated by yourself and not others.
If you do this looking for external validation, you'll be sorely disappointed. Do it because only the best you can have the best life for you, not because you're expecting any particular outcome that you desire.
I get the whole "fake it till you make it" aspect of it all; however, at a personal level I usually ask, "what would a wiser and more serious me do/say in this situation?" then I go over my issue in my head as if I am explaining it to a friend and try to respond it from the point of view of a wiser/serious self who can see things in a detached and uncompromising way. It is hard, cause more than often you realize that you must take the hard way or do the hard thing in order to do the right thing.
I just want to thank you so much for these videos, I have started to change my life lost 40 pounds in the last year, completely changed my lifestyle, I still have days where I struggle but always feel better after watching your videos. Your work is really helping alot of people out there. You should be very proud of yourself for what you do. Thanks again man.

My pleasure. P.S. There is no self. Its all illusory. When you become No-Thing you are capable of being Every-Thing.
So I've been doing this for a few weeks because the idea just came to me: just be someone else if this does not work. Its so unbelievably liberating, because it gives me the long longed for distance from certain things that I truly believed were holding me back. Now I feel free, and much more productive too. And this clip has given me the tools to execute it in a far more sophisticated way. Especially the creation of personal "transformative" rituals sounds so cool, I'm convinced it will work too. Can 't wait to try everything out, thank you so much!
This might be the info that I needed at this moment.. I feel that I’ve enacted this method sub consciously to push myself into a better position in my life a few years back but resorted to suppressive self and never could figure out what it was that I lost .. this has made it very clear thank you !
This man should go down in history as one of the Great Minds! As I find myself back here every time listening to his works, I cant help but to compare the feeling to that of a man whom after being lost in the desert for days without food or water, miraculously stumbles over the sandy horizon, to the beautiful and heavenly sight of a lush and green Oasis full of palm and fruit trees' with flowing streams of crystal clear water. That imaginary feeling is what i experience here every time. I come here to quench the hunger and thirst of my soul.
“For since men for the most part follow in the footsteps and imitate the actions of others, and yet are unable to adhere exactly to those paths which others have taken, or attain to the virtues of those whom they would resemble, the wise man should always follow the roads that have been trodden by the great, and imitate those who have most excelled, so that if he cannot reach their perfection, he may at least acquire something of its savour. Acting in this like the skilful archer, who seeing that the object he would hit is distant, and knowing the range of his bow, takes aim much above the destined mark; not designing that his arrow should strike so high, but that flying high it may alight at the point intended.” ― Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
I started to do this when I was a baby after I've watched the movie "The Mask". It was a very useful game to overcome my shyness, growing up I totally forgot about this, now in my 30, I'm watching a video that tells me I start doing this again.
I’m 29, and yeah I saw the mask when I was younger as well and it lived in my subconscious I think I’m a similar way and never really thought about it, until seeing your comment
it’s crazy how the videos of yours that i stumble upon are always perfectly what I needed to hear in that moment. I’ve been wanting desperately to construct some kind of new, fresh start to shed some of my old shame and insecurities, and I’ve been wanting to change my name unofficially. I don’t know if I’ll do that yet, but now that I know my technique can actually be useful, I’ll definitely be using some of these ideas. thank you so much for real .. u have no idea how much these videos have helped me dig myself out of so much self hatred in just a few weeks
I can't explain how accurate and incredibly poignant this is. You touch on this so fucking perfectly. The level of research you put into this is unbelievable. Please PLEASE keep doing this man.
*Fantasy Books* revolving around the "hero's journey" usually portray the authors ideal "Second Self." Reading good fantasy can absolutely inspire you and leave you with Fire in the Belly. My favorites are The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss Bloodsong by Anthony Ryan The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lunch What are yours?
Haven't read them but I've heard a lot of the name of the wind. Personally, the whole Tolkien universe strongly inspires me when I find a down in my life, specially hobbits :D

My second self was with me in the bar everyday, always keeping me there, raising me up with false encouragement..I got rid of him 9 years ago and still haven't found his replacement..That is the hardest part.
I love that! Similar to the totem concept in the movie inception. I have an image of the ares borghese sculpture on my phone that I look at when I need to step up lol although I’ve been doing that intuitively since before I had even watched this video, this gave me a lot more insight.
That was amazing! It confirms an experiment I once thought of (but never enacted) based on your lessons on Nietzsche--particularly the Ubermensche. I had reflected on what would be the most fully-actualized, highest evolution who I could ever possibly come to be. I also considered specific "Avatars" which would be what you outline in this video. The Avatars would be adopted, one at a time over time, as levels and guide posts as if my life itself was a multiplayer game, or an entire school with many courses to take with Self-Actualization as the ultimate graduation or my ultimate purpose (a la Frankl). Thank you so very much for reminding, reimagining, and rekindling an idea whose time has truly come at this stage in life for me!
I remember reading that quote from Machiavelli and thinking it was psychologically important. I thought at the time that his ritual of putting on his old formal clothes (from the time when he had an important government job) and engaging in conversation with the ancient masters was an activation of the Mind Palace technique whereby he could recall all the classical texts he had studied. That could be a part of it but I see your explanation also has much merit.
Just became a member! And I really recommend everyone watching this video or reading this does. There's no price to knowledge and also it's actually the same price as one caramel latte if you join as I did. Thank you
I had a bracelet made that reads "what would James bond do" , it really helps in decision making. My highest gratitude to the makers of this channel and to all the comments that help us discover new insights and knowledge on the ideas posted here
My self is the mother of my idols. By earnest effort, discipline and self control, let the wise man build for him self a personality which no flood shall overwhelmed. First I tell my self: what kind of person I want to be ? Then I must do what I have to do. I must build up my life action by action and be content if each action achieves its goal as far as possible-and nothing can keep this from happening-not even god. God is in us; the author of our dream. Our job is to dream big and not worry about what other people think or say or do. The light of intellect is colored by passion and interest. Personality is the element of great happiness. So powerful is the comfort to be derived from a vivid consciousness of this advantage. To win the favor of a beautiful woman by one’s own personality alone is perhaps the greatest satisfaction to one’s vanity than to anything else for it is an assurance that one’s personality is an equivalent to the person that is treasured, desired and de fide above all other.
I think you put too much value in the opinion of a beautiful woman. I envy more the men who do not care for nor desire the favor of beautiful women. Those men know what truly is important in life.
Ideas are such a wonderful thing manifesting upon our reality, binding beings that have lived, live and will be living in the future. Thank you for constantly reminding me that, and for giving me hope.
This is what I'm trying to do now. I've been trying this for awhile, but now that I've seen this vid, I now know what exactly I've been doing. I hope to become someone worthy of becoming a shield. A wall that not only protects, but let's others lean against should they ever feel the need. I'm not worthy nor have the ambition to become a king, a healer, nor a sword that is used to defeat others enemies. I just want to be sturdy, and reliable. And in time, I have faith I can do just that.
Total nonsense. Its really not just zooming out. It's a much more specific technique than that. It's about creating another theoretical self and all the complexity that goes along with that. It's NOT just zooming out. Did you even watch the video all the way through? And no its not "basically" anything. Its not up to you to sum up this video as if you can shorten it and still retain its utility. Arrogant fool.
I have practiced and lived this way many times. Imagining my higher self and drawing energy knowing that if I can at least conceive a better person from within; that I would be able to incorporate those thoughts and traits into myself.
@@lukiso5734 I wouldn't say it changed me. It more or less revealed more of myself. To explain; I believe that if you at least have the imagination to conceive a higher self; than it is already apart of you, and you already have the power to manifest it. I used this technique because I thought I lacked the power to change my life. After weeks of practice and becoming more alike to my conception of "best self"; I realized it was simply a tool for me to let go and accept my lower self in order to become more. Keep seeking my friend
I'll start by saying that this is one of my favorite channels and an amazing resource for this day and age. Something important to keep in mind though is that Academy of Ideas is using each video to simply share the crux/core components of philosphy that he is covering. To the viewer: don't take each video as "the absolute truth"/the psychological method that you need to subscribe to. Rather, watch all of his videos and ask yourself, "Which method resonates with me and would be useful in my self-development?" For example, many aspects of this video contradict other prominent psychoanalytic methods. The quote from George Kelly mentioned in this clip, "...to realize here and now that our innermost personality is something we create as we go along rather than something we discover..." directly contradicts much of Jung, Freud, Maslow and many others featured on this channel. The core of those philosophies would say that your core personality is largely set as you enter adulthood, and discovering the depths of yourself (the light, the dark, and everything in between) is a neccessary step to enjoying a full life. It's what you do with who you are that will either lead to fulfillment or detriment. So is this video "wrong"? By no means, that's subject to the viewer. Am I glad to learn more about "Second Self" concepts and do I think that it could be a useful modeling tool at the very least? Yes. Is it a great philosophy that should be considered a gold standard? In my honest opinion, no.
This is philosophy not mathematics, There is a wide range of views and ideas and we can't really be certain of one being the righteous one like Nietzsche said : You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist. The most important thing is that we seek the ideas that we feel like can change our life's.
This is completely mindblowing to me. The way in which you use words to express ideas is stunning to say the least. I have consumed unfathomable amounts of self help literature, but I have never come across something as eloquently written as this. Thank you.
This really is a philosophical/psychological break down of the law of attraction and energy mechanics for drawing things into your life. The "fake it till you make it" attitude of living from the mindset and demeanor you want, rather than the energy your current circumstances instill in you. Act and plan who you want to be, rather than allowing current issues to define who you are now. 🙌
see: The alter ego effect. The book outlines all of this and how to craft your own- pro athletes have used the second self for years to accomplish great shit so it studies a bunch of top achievers and the authors a coach for mental edge in athletics and performance. one of the few legit books out there on self improvement
Each an every one of your videos contains content that has potential to completely alter someone's life in positively colossal ways. The benefits of this channel to its viewer goes far deeper than most of the channels you can find on the TH-cam platform, I personally thank you so much for doing everything you've been doing the way your doing it.
I once had a brave and wild second self, I seen him as my alter ego, so wild, brave, and pure was as this character that I had no option but to kill my second. I devoured my second self whole to absorb his spirit, and in doing so his sacrifice has rejuvenated my soul.
This video couldn’t have been published at a ideal time, it resonates with my life and where I’m at on so many levels... I have much respect for the trouble and efforts you take to relay this to other people searching for a refined way of life and living..
I’ve been imagining my higher self that I pay respect and bring offerings of knowledge for growth. I’m glad this video exists so I can not look crazy anymore
WOW. This was mind blowing. I had intuitively come up with basically the same concept when looking for solutions to master the situation I am in but seeing this was unbelievable. I feel you hit every aspect of this process perfectly. This was a amazing. Thank you for creating this and sharing this message. Many blessings.
@Malvika Shankar Weirdly, over a few weeks some of the TH-camrs I watch have been talking about stuff that I've been studying. It was almost like they were watching and copying for video material.. This one, if they cover it will have men searching the house for hidden cameras :D
I did exactly this a couple of years ago. I was consciously integrating the behaviours of the people that I revered. It's good, and does have a positive affect on your personality, but if you are in pain, like I was back then, it won't help you much; because for a lot of us, where we are in life won't change by external emulation of someone else's personality (which was a result of their own journey and experience). It will change through one thing and one thing only - patience and the detachment from outcome. Once you do that, you naturally start to become more like the ones you revere, remember strength comes from experience and overcoming, not emulation.
Wait, so do I do it ? It sounds like a great idea and like it could improve me as a person and my life, but i didn't understand if its just a "experiment" or does it change me as a person as i try to behave like my role models
See, that's the thing. In this fast paced world, it would be extremely hard for someone to keep in character for long enough time that they could integrate it into their personality permanently (this very rare.) Most of us will just give up eventually. What I think is most important in any such personality transformation endeavour is the 'pause'. Being slow and patient whole doing almost anything will enable the ideal that is naturally withing you to come out. Through repeated actions, one can bring it to perfection. In the end, we only admire in others what is already present in us.
That's crazy... Just started making videos as "The Doctornaut", who acts as my higher self, working on me -- "The Patient" Literally just released the first video about 5 days ago. Nice little sync :) Great video man.
Sincerely, A big Thank - You. Before watching this video, I did it on my own by writing down on a piece of paper how I wanted to view myself than what currently I am. But, I wasn't sure whether this is something right which I'm doing and how far it will take me. But, After watching this video, I understood this itself is a method. Now, my doubts are clear. Thank- You so much!!
You are what you eat, think....do ?....sounds like bio feedback , behavioural modification , the use of self education ,self will , self governance , auto hypnoses....combined with benign intent, extremely positive\attractive ...not unlike the essential teachings of all prolific philosophy's . BRAVO !!!
My favorite video of yours yet. It's been a couple of years that I've been watching your videos now, and it's finally occurring to me. how much I've actually gained from your videos this whole time

One of the best videos so far. Powerful stuff right here. I've been doing this my whole life and now I know great thinkers have been doing this already, structuring a method and labeling stages, all thanks to you Academy of Ideas, you guys keep me motivated.
Shiny Sphinx Yeh, you could be right, but I’ve seen how religious dogmas can hinder growth and Self-transformation. Maybe it was you who got triggered by my non acceptance of Christianity? Been there, done that. ☮️
You are not in sin, you are in shame and misunderstanding, you cannot do better if you do not know better . free yourself of the shame that comes from simply learning to walk in life and the pain of stumbling. You deserve peace and joy and you deserve the peace of mind of knowing if you could have done differently you would have but you can only learn and grow forward with your experience. Trust in truth and follow the warmth of its embracing light.
Woke up to this though path, 20 minutes later I finish the video and it made me understand why I woke up feeling drawn to "waking up". Thank you for the grate lessons you share with us.
I would say Jung's No. 2 personality represents more of a ancestral connection to the collective unconscious and if anything like this perhaps a representation of the potential on has in self integration, not really a consciously crafted ideal one is meant to emulate.
@@troybernal5085 Memories, dreams and reflections is the biography of C. G. Jung. In it Jung explains a part of his childhood in which he found himself at a very young age contemplating the problem of god, mainly due to his father being a clergyman, this leads him to think about a lot of other philosophical problems at this young age. In a way he finds himself split between the child that he is and the childish problems he has (model or personality 1) and this part of himself that feels the connection to the larger world and wonders about its nature (model 2, can be compared to the archetype of the wise old man). Later as he grows he finds himself connecting less with personality 2 as he goes trough his young adult and student years and is in a situation where he has to interact with the world more so he can establish himself (studying medicine) but as he gets to his later psychological and mystical works he seems to channel it more and more.
I do this 😊, when angry or upset, split into a logic vs emotion conversation, arguing from either side as if by 2x separate persona's. Logic always provides a deeper insight into what triggered the emotions, and what the triggering says about oneself.
Just wanted to say thank you for all these video you are creating. I know they are meant to help other's transform themselves with wonderful and ancient knowledge. However, I can't help but think that this journey to help us all is also transforming yourself. Such is the act of giving. Thank you and bless you on your path of seeking knowledge, self realization and growth; as you assist us in doing the same. Much love.
This channel is so underrated. Thank you so much for doing what you do. I have learned a lot. We often tend to look at all these ideas just as words written by people but the way this channel explains great ideas to enable us to reach our greatest potential is incredible. For a layman like me it helps to decipher the value of these ideas.
In spirituality, this is referred to as the higher self- the divine being of energy that we truly are, beyond the physical body. I like videos like this because they explain, from a different perspective, using similar wisdom, to come to the same key idea: Change is possible because you are, and can be, stronger by imagining yourself as greater than what you perceive.
Excellent timing. Thank you for showing us all these helpful life tips to navigate our society whilst not abandoning ourselves. All these videos are helpful. Thank you so much.
2:45 3:34 creating alter ego after studying the lives of great individuals we want to emulate. 5:07 5:17 5:53 1. Search for people to emulate 2. Study them. How they become great? What personality traits they cultivated? How they deal with adversity? How they overcame challenges?
How the Sculpture made all this is so amazing . Without learning our selves we are not allowed to make artificial intellect it could be just information what is not a builder instrument . 🙏🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This strikes me as similar to what I've heard people refer to as "contemplation of the sage," wherein you visualize how you think the ideal person would react and behave in various situations.
I didn’t know this was a “thing” ... but it’s how I raised myself without a mother or father figure 🤔

Ever since I've watched your videos, they've had the eerie effect of answering life long doubts and questions I've had about myself, reality society and my place in it. Every time you upload a new video I hesitate to click on it and it always bugged me. I would procrastinate for hours, days, or weeks to click on them. Truth is hard, and spiky, it's not easy to embrace.
As my great teacher said, "Personality is a lie. A personality is just a set of habits, of perceptual filters and feelings and behaviors that you gotten used to because you use them a lot'.
wow thats a good one.
Who's your teacher?
First or second self; what can you do if ppl don't use their eyes properly.
The best channel in TH-cam so far, I used to watch the school of life, but this one is a way much higher level.

This,
was a lovely reminder of such illuminations and veils to the next layer of uncovery!
Thank you
Why did you put "by chance" in quotes?

@Mike Bailey Oh yeah, that was probably my Joker personality or my Sponge Bob personality. Now I remember lol.

Using a double self could be productive, but abusing it is dangerous to a degree. Kierkegaard warned of it before:
“Thus when the ambitious man, whose slogan was "Either Caesar or nothing", does not become Caesar, he is in despair over it.
But also, as is mentioned, it is not necessary to become an exact replica of those we wish to emulate, just to strive to become more than we are.
paz z beautiful response. The aim is to interpret and improve ourselves not to replicate someone who has already been.

Acting in this like the skilful archer, who seeing that the object he would hit is distant, and knowing the range of his bow, takes aim much above the destined mark; not designing that his arrow should strike so high, but that flying high it may alight at the point intended.”

@@mysteryjunkie9808True. But...

And did it change YOU ? Or is it a thing you have to keep on doing, im just very interested but a little hesitant, what if its just a waste of time
@@lukiso5734 I wouldn't say it changed me.
I'm a simple man. When I see a new video from Academy of Ideas, I click.
You're the GOAT, my man. If you're not familiar with sports terminology, that stands for Greatest Of All Time.
That was amazing. Everything I learned in school couldn't amount to what I just felt that I learned.
Rather, watch all of his videos and ask yourself, "Which method resonates with me and would be useful in my self-development?"
For example, many aspects of this video contradict other prominent psychoanalytic methods.
This is philosophy not mathematics,
There is a wide range of views and ideas and we can't really be certain of one being the righteous one like Nietzsche said :
You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.
The most important thing is that we seek the ideas that we feel like can change our life's.
I swear to god this channel is in my head sometimes. I was just thinking of this
Same. I just question how healthy this practice is
@@Dvssonance I think you just have to make sure you don't rapidly change to that person, just take small steps each day.

This is beautiful, incredible, clear and articulate life changing-nay-life-saving theory.

I believe this is why Jung never recommended it. It makes people suppress their shadow, which is doubly dangerous and harming.
@@HarshSingh-qr5lm Oh wow, thank you, I think I'll do it anyways though, even if I fail, dont really know what else there is i could do
That's crazy... Just started making videos as "The Doctornaut", who acts as my higher self, working on me -- "The Patient"
Literally just released the first video about 5 days ago. Nice little sync :)
Great video man.

Lol. I was thinking chocolate but I eat that 24x7 so it doesn't qualify.

Now that’s funny 😊👍
You are what you eat, think....do ?....sounds like bio feedback , behavioural modification , the use of self education ,self will , self governance , auto hypnoses....combined with benign intent, extremely positive\attractive ...not unlike the essential teachings of all prolific philosophy's . BRAVO !!!

You win 1 (one) internet. Well meme'd sir.
My favorite video of yours yet. It's been a couple of years that I've been watching your videos now, and it's finally occurring to me. how much I've actually gained from your videos this whole time
Gonna get myself a box of tic-tacs ! Great tip, thanks.
Sprite964 Or you can try a ring tied to a necklace on your neck and reverse the role that Frodo played in the lord of the rings. Instead of putting it on for evil you put it on when you are enacting your second self.
I’ve thought of this form of healing for awhile now.
Wow. I don't know how this is so timely about my contemplation these days. Once again, thank you for this.
Can you please make a video on maladaptive daydreaming and escapism??

@@kt9495 thank you dear, that helped a lot, thanks.
One of the best videos so far. Powerful stuff right here. I've been doing this my whole life and now I know great thinkers have been doing this already, structuring a method and labeling stages, all thanks to you Academy of Ideas, you guys keep me motivated.
New Life in Christ does exactly this, and does it seamlessly.
Mr. Cee Gee And any other way is wrong? Whatever.
Vector Equilibrium who said any other way was wrong. You’re making yourself get triggered for nothing.
False.
That second self could potentially go into the archetype of god, higher being. At least, that's what it feels to me.

A video has never made such an impact on my life as much as this one

_Parts of this video are pulled directly out of Memories, Dreams and Reflections. The Jung No. 1 and No. 2 Model_
I would say Jung's No. 2 personality represents more of a ancestral connection to the collective unconscious and if anything like this perhaps a representation of the potential on has in self integration, not really a consciously crafted ideal one is meant to emulate.
@@aleksaholcer9334 what is memories, dreams and reflections Jung 1 and 2 models you guys are talking about ??
I can definitely appreciate the Peterson reference
I do this 😊, when angry or upset, split into a logic vs emotion conversation, arguing from either side as if by 2x separate persona's.
Logic always provides a deeper insight into what triggered the emotions, and what the triggering says about oneself.
Second self: Dangerous fine line in between development and creation of a mask such as that seen in narcissism.
Then there must be an emphasis applied on “Healthy Escapism” I suppose
Gonna show to my young adult children. You explain this well. This should be taught in schools.
Trauma and abuse
The fear of being judged or condemned are the greatest reasons I feel embodying your ideal self is the reason must if us wont
?
In spirituality, this is referred to as the higher self- the divine being of energy that we truly are, beyond the physical body. I like videos like this because they explain, from a different perspective, using similar wisdom, to come to the same key idea: Change is possible because you are, and can be, stronger by imagining yourself as greater than what you perceive.
Excellent timing. Thank you for showing us all these helpful life tips to navigate our society whilst not abandoning ourselves. All these videos are helpful. Thank you so much.
Give the best that you seek to be the attention of your reality.
Godspeed all of you
Whoever makes these videos gets me. Thank you.
This channel reminds me how little i know about myself and how much there is to learn

1. Search for people to emulate
2. Study them. How they become great? What personality traits they cultivated? How they deal with adversity? How they overcame challenges?
