Really enjoying these color cube models. It would really be cool to do shorts with just these random pulls. Another neat concept would be to pick an army you want to paint, pick three models from the same unit, paint one with a color card of your choice and the other two with random pulls from each box. Then have the community vote on the best looking one and commit to painting the army in that scheme in a follow up video.

After your last video on this I purchased one and wrote their customer service to tell them about the video. They are almost all gamers there! They love the video too! When you buy the cube it comes with color matching downloads for paint brands like Prisma Color, etc. I suggested they add some for Citadel, Army Painter, etc. They are going to look into it. It's a great tool and the downloads are a real bonus - thanks for introducing it to everyone in this community!

I am an old guy that is relatively new to the hobby. Painting has been very intimidating - and I always struggle with where to begin. Your videos have been great and inspire me to simply try stuff and not worry too much about it. This is another great 'place to start' and lowers the barrier to just dive in and grab the brushes! Thanks, and please keep them coming! As others have stated, I could watch an entire series based on random pulls from the cube.

@@terrencemiltner1005 Maybe, maybe not. GW has been doing limited runs of board games forever. However, from casual observation, they generally fall in two "tracks".
The "fan-boy" track with new sculpts and sold exclusively by Games Workshop, like: Dreadfleet, Space Hulk 3rd Ed., Warhammer Quest. These were always premium ≥ $120 games. Then there's the "on-boarding" track, typically with older and/or repurposed sculpts, sold at big box retailers, like: Lost Patrol 2nd Ed., Space Marine Adventures. These have generally been ≤ $60.
What we've got in Dark Tide is possibly the worst of both tracks. The repurposed sculpts of the "on-boarding" track but closer in price to the "fan-boy" track. The value bump perhaps coming from 1.5 to 2 of the minis being heroes which cost $35 standalone. Value being relative, if you're that hobbyist inclined to collect Imperial Smorgasbord. Oh, and you get a probably OK board game to go with all them minis. It's also only being sold by GW. So the newly initiated 40k fan enticed by the $40 Darktide video game can't just stumble upon the game at Barnes & Noble and acquire it on an impulse buy. Nay, they must to seek out GW on their own turf to drop that hundo and change in tribute.
Thinking about it, the consumer the Darktide board game would appeal to "most" is at the centermost circle of [Cmdr.] Dante's Venn Diagram. Persons that are prexisting GW fans and/or really into the Darktide video game, already inclined to shop at a Warhammer store or online, who also like board games and/or want the specific minis in this box, and/or want to get their friends into 40k, but can't convince them to buy $200+ of hobby junk outright, so they've got to pull a bait-and-switch on Blood Rage night.
The other outlier in this, uh -- space, is the Space Marine video game tie-in board game. Which features the new and currently exclusive Lt. Titus mini, and the repurposed, but still new-ish, Leviathan Termagants. That's available at retail for $40.

How about a challenge where you grab another person, and both of you trade a model and give the other person a color scheme to use on it. Maybe a time limit and who ever does the best wins

500 hours in darktide and counting. That game slaps idgaf. A board game you say? You have my attention. Nice cube brah. Congrats on the DEMON!

I would love to see you finish the box with each character being a different color. Maybe even incorporate speed painting those colors for the enemy factions

This is the new meta. You must conquer the cube. All X amount of cards!

I really need to get these color cubes! I feel like they'd be perfect for the 4 color palettes we do every week! This looks terrific Jon. So glad to see you coming over to the minimal side of the palette!!

Looks great, Jon. This cube is a great idea, and you're executing on these ideas really well.

I would honestly watch a series of you painting the whole box using these cards!

Georgie’s story is one of the greatest openings in fiction. It’s so iconic. I love to reread just that chapter.
The mix on Georgie’s rain coat really started to remind me of the texture of fabric in classical painting. It may be quick enough for you but it looks fantastic.
Also… how did GW mange to cheap out just enough to make a new game but not enough for new minis that match the game it’s based on?

Those cubes are a really cool idea. Good paint scheme. Would love to see more random colour cube scheme videos.

Challenge: Pick one color scheme, paint three minis with those colors, each mini gets a different primary color emphasis. How varied would they look? Would they all still fit or would you get three completely different schemes using the same colors?

This model looks fantastic and is what I imagine to be in line with the rag-tag conscripted prisoner-like setup of Darktide.

I never realised until now how much Ninjon uses a neutralish grey background for his painting videos. It's very easy on the eye compared to white.

Ninjons content being supported by a slow roll of product promotions is fine and all, I can respect the business model. However, buying up everything promoted on this channel and still being left with inferior results leads to a lot of feels bad moments. "Thin your paints." "You're thinning your paints too much." Would love to see more troubleshooting techniques sprinkled into these videos here and there for the less experienced painters who are still learning the fundamentals but don't know where to backtrack through multiple years of content.

Very cool way to come up with schemes. I'm doing my returning to 40k army a very standard scheme but I will have to look at doing this for some of the HQ models or future projects.

Personally I think you should incorporate the cube in all of your tutorials. The fact that you could pick a card at random and make it work, and on that model really says something.

New series? Random color pallet with a random model from the pile of shame?
