- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 12 เม.ย. 2024
- The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor ($55,470 starting in the US, $77,945 starting in Canada) is all new and comes equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 making 405 horsepower and 430 lb ft of torque. It’s equipped with Live Valve FOX shocks, locking front and rear differentials, and a new electronically controlled two-speed transfer case. But does the Ranger Raptor live up to its potent spec sheet and handle the dunes with ease? And is it worth the hefty price tag it asks for as a mid-size truck? We hope you enjoy the episode. It's incredible how much bigger Rangers have gotten over the years.
It’s more incredible how big cars have gotten in general over the the years.
😂
Mostly in effort to dodge fuel economy standards, but also to 1 up the competition
Mid sized trucks are bigger than full sized trucks in the 90s. That's not an exaggeration. They actually are.
@@deansmits006Safety too
So true. Got a Ranger crew cab currently and had a 2001 F150 King Ranch… I honestly can’t say which one was bigger…
The extra channel is definitely getting way more love than we expected
Is there anyone that expected anything from these guys not to get loved to bits?
@@quakslikeaduck I think they mean it's getting more regular uploads than expected
Drove it to Wal-Mart. That is 90% of the use case for these!
And with American logic, you need 400+ HP to do that.
But what if criminals try to chase you and your only escape is going on a dirt path?
@@TheRealCatof This is a genuine response to a European tbh hahaha unless from Sweden.
@@CalleSoderberg But thats colll
With how shit our roads are, it's offroading, on road.
Good to see you guys continuing to help out the Throttle House guys - seems as though they really need your help.
James: Think of it as Kirby
Me: Ok, from Kirby
James: From Super Smash
Me: Ah a true gamer
james has talked about smash quite a bit i think so hes prolly just a smasher and tbf kirby solo games are cult classics not mario 64 or anything
i know Kirby from gameboy, but have never played super smash so I was really confused there when he said that!
I just finished Kirby on NES yesterday
Nerds
Speaking of games. Right now I'm enjoying Wildlands. My primary weapon is the AK-12. A really good alrounder. High firing rate, fits a 50 magazine, a grande launcher and gets really powerful once you upgrade it to level 30. Lately I switched it for the G2. Also fits a 50 mag, a grande launcher, scopes and suppressors. Buy far not as powerful fully upgraded. But has a noticeable higher firing rate. Love it.
In South Africa people love these. This size pick up truck in general and this model especially. That sound note from the engine is reason enough to buy the truck on its own
🤮
The Ranger is the most popular vehicle in Australia. They are extremely versatile and still very comfortable. Twin cab utes in general are everywhere as Australian are now using them as the family car
Sadly thought the ranger captor costs an obscene amount here in Australia compared to Canada
Sadly though you're posting bullshit.
97K drive away in Aus, the equivalent of 92K in Canada without rego and taxes so about the same.
Google is a wonderful thing.
A plague on Australian roads that takes up way too much space, driven by dickheads in fluro who can barely afford them, and rarely cart more than their own fat asses anywhere.
A mate came over from the u.s, and goes "you guys really do love your utes you spot them every 30secs or so, i dont see that many (obv truck as hes in the u.s)
I bought a 04 gx470 a couple months ago. 1 owner, 107k miles, $12,900. Now that boxy is back in, it looks new again. It actually gets 19mpg with its v8 as well. Best "truck" for the money if you ask me.
Absolute steal!
Love the GX470! I however would love to know how you're managing 19mpg, when the last time I drove the 05 in my yard I think the average was sitting at 18L/100km (13MPG!)😅
@@earlmacmullin4688 I reset the mileage counter and for the past 3,000 miles, it says I’ve averaged 18.8 mpg. Most of my driving is highway but a lot of gridlock as well. I put 89 octane in it and nothing else. I think if I strictly drove in urban areas it would be closer to 16, but I couldn’t get it as low as 13 if I tried. Maybe you’re running rich.
I have an 04 Sequoia Limited with the same 4.7 in it. Coming up on 300,000 miles of faithful service and it’s turned a best of 18mpg.
I couldn’t ever see paying 57K for anything with Ranger in the title.
My last Ford was a brand new 16 F150 XLT crew cab with V8 and four wheel drive. Stickered for 50K and I paid $38,000. I refuse to pay these new ridiculous prices…
Your gx must be stock and you those numbers would only be possible with mostly highway cruising.
Don't care for trucks, but do like Extra Throttle helping out Throttle guys
Those Throttle guys are hopeless and need some serious help. Thank goodness they have some mentors to guide them.
@@popuppete too bad they weren't available for help ahead of Land Cruiser crash
love how quiet and comfortable that cabin sounds while youre smashing through those whoops... lots of vehicles can go offroad but few can remain comfortable and quiet while doing it.
Owned one in NZ for nearly 2 years, stoked my favorite car reviewers like it. Turn traction control completely off by holding it for 10 secs and lock the rear diff, turns it into a drift machine
"Don't break it..." Foreshadowing
Love this channel!
absolutely great as always
I don’t Watch it because of the cars, nono, just because of James… he makes my day, every single day!
I worked at the plant in Michigan that made these from 2/22-12/23. Then ford decided to go cheap on the zinc phosphate so don’t buy one made after 12/23.
Mind explaining more please
Can you explain what the Zinc Phosphate is for?
@@defaultlogos2976 Zinc phosphate is an inorganic compound with the formula Zn3(PO4)2. This white powder is widely used as a corrosion resistant coating on metal surfaces either as part of an electroplating process or applied as a primer pigment. Basically, its a coat applied to prevent the car from rust and corrosion. If Ford went cheap on it, it means the car will corrode faster
@@Proparkourgamer
I see, thank you
Got a Chevy mole here
I work with a 4WDing coach who gets these from Ford Aus, rocked up to Sydney Motorsport Park to see him jumping knolls in this thing. So much fun.
Can we have the extra throttle house crew always in tuxedos with cute little bowties 👉👈, it'll be so much easier to distinguish with the main channel guys (the baddies).
A request for educational purposes only :D
Or just the bowtie without the tuxedos! Or a fun hat!
Gay
I agree
These are so common in South Africa, you would swear we aren't a developing country. I can go out now and I'll see at least 2 Ranger Raptors. The Ranger along with its Raptor Variant are EVERYWHERE
True, but so far my experience suggests raptor drivers are better than normal ranger drivers so I'm not mad about it ... plus the raptor does sound nice when it's given the beans
Wealth gap
Yeah no… South Africa is massive and has the biggest wealth gap and I guarantee you will not see one outside of the major white cities.
What happend to hilux ?
Thomas got that "extra channel doin pretty good too" hairstylist! I see ya lookin' fresh big dog! Great review as always gents. Much continued love and success to all, as always! Tough competition, but making solid progress in my top Canadian and British media personalities rankings.
Seeing you doing a quick review on a bakkie that is built in my town pretoria used to see these being developed on the N4 between witbank and pretoria👊👊
“Bajaring” 😂 - love the reviews fellas. Keep up the good work
The smash Brothers reference is awesome lmao
You guys are amazing. Thanks
So they made the Maverick, Ranger-sized. They made the Ranger, F-150-sized. They made the F-150, Super duty-sized. I miss trail-sized trucks 😢
They're all still nearly the same footprint as they used to be. They got taller and heavier, but not wider or longer. Ranger got wider, but not by a lot.
And somehow matched or less bed cargo space on select models
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 This Ranger is the same width as my F-150 4x4 Crew and it weighs hundreds of pounds more. The new Tacoma long bed is actually longer than a 2004 F-150 while having something like 30% less passenger and cargo space.
Drove one of these in Thailand 5 years ago. Bi-turbo diesel. Was more than Awesome.
Nice review keep up the good work fellas
My wife just picked hers up 3 days ago. It’s very tight. Great truck!
8:16 James: “You Bob.”
I wish Thomas had said “no, I’m Thomas, and you’re James.”
Missed opportunity. 😂😂😂
My father bought a 97 and a 02 Ranger brand new! Yea these new rangers are huge in comparison.
The assumption that the new Toyotas will be more reliable is just that. Apparently there are reliability issues w the turbo hybrid fours, and TFL’s Tacoma’s front differential failed when doing mild rock crawling that it’s competitors had no problem handling. Toyota claimed it failed as designed to prevent more serious damage. So basically when the going gets tough when you really need to be able to rely on your truck, it breaks on you ‘as designed’…
What reliability issues with the 2.4 L turbos? The ADD issue with TFL truck has not been duplicated with another problem.
I was driving a 23 Taco Sr5 rental today for work and got passed by an older Tundra....I was as big if not bigger than it. It was mind boggling
i just bought that exact truck minus the bead lock wheels. i am used to full size Ford trucks but this thing has been a blast. i got a midsize mainly for easier parking. my full size trucks need a field to turn around lol
Outside of the states this is a massive truck. North America is out of control
Raptors stand out like crazy here in Australia because they are almost too big for the roads. At some point you have to just admit it's an ego thing and it's getting beyond useful.
It sucks
...and yet we still have plenty of room for all 🇺🇲
@@abstractspaces8186that’s an infrastructure issue, not a ford issue
@@glareicebutts1423 Maybe but it raises the question of why you might want or need something that big.
It's cool to see my truck on TH-cam lol
I've had mine for a week now and it is totally awesome no regrets
Love watching this from the UK and you guys saying how this is the medium truck and complaining about the bed size. Seen a few of these in the UK, they are huge puts it in prospective how big the f150 as you say full sized trucks are.
The best pickup that you can get here in Europe, keep up with great work the other guys😂😂😂
man the american market is so lucky to get the v6. here, were just stuck with a 2 liter Biturbo Diesel that was in the last gen raptor with no power boost
I’ll say this. I have a Colorado with a very nice pipe/ladder rack over the bed/cab. I can carry much more than an 1/2 ton with that AND because the truck isn’t so tall you can get stuff in and out of the bed without needing a step ladder.
IMO the best truck on the market.
Can’t wait to get one. Just wished the f150 came to the uk
Loved the f150 raptor I had in canda
In the looks department. Taco
Colorado.z71 , ranger Raptor
Not really a chevy fan anymore They've done it to themselves with their reliability woes and the crap family cars in the lineup for 3 decades. But I feel they deserve some love with that new z71 package. A threesome Mashup throttlehouse style would be epic!!
did you guys just tease the new lx600 and land cruiser video coming up
because you're "barharwing." Lol James.
1:51. Tip: Make impossible beef from aluminium at your next barbeque.
I love this thing I love the ranger raptor and all of the raptors if I had the money to buy one I would
In Australia there are Rangers with coyote V8s in them... there are conversion companies here... sure they will start on the new Ranger Raptor soon.... but at the moment they are tuning them and getting ridiculous power out of them... the aftermarket mods for these are mind blowing... i have one and it is awesome...
That's awesome. Good job Austrailia
That is much better, and also needs the Tremec 6 speed manual transmission From the Mustang Dark horse/Mach 1/GT 350
I hope yall review the Colorado ZR2 Bison
My favorite couple ❤️
I hope you guys review a ZR2 Bison.
That's a Ford Fuckin' RANGER!!!
No. It's a car.
@@jellyjamacainlol no it isn't. It's a proper TRUCK platform that's been thoroughly tested and developed in Australia and America. The monocoque chassis car like pickup you're thinking of is the Maverick
@@joaquinpaul8205 No. it's a car. You must have never driven these new ones before.
@@jellyjamacainmate sticking to your shitty joke ain’t gonna make it funnier
@@jellyjamacain Bonk your head or something? It's a truck, deal with it.
Thomas sporting a fantastic head of hair in this one. His stylist needs a raise.
I parked my dad’s 2002 Tundra next to a new Tacoma and the Tacoma is a little bigger. Crazy how big trucks have gotten.
I wish Ford would give us the option of the 3.0l turbo diesel v6 in the new Ranger that our friends overseas get. Among other things.
Sounds like a head to head to head is very much needed.
eyyyyy I See a teaser for the land cruiser video
I wonder what the size difference is between this and the 2012 raptor since I feel like that was a lot smaller then the new raptor
Thomas and James is like Woods and Mason on Call Of Duty :))
Saw a bunch of these in Jamaica this past week, kind of surprising.
In Australia these are 100k..absolute weapons
converted
65k USD
Unfortunately local FORD dealerships here already marking these up $15k above MSRP. What a shame, dealerships price these out of the range for us normal hard working people.
My dream car....the way these things are all over Southern Africa is astonishinh!!...i guess its our compromise for being denied chance at the F150 and F150 raptor action
This truck 🛻 is mega 💯🙌
Hey Ford! You know what would be perfect? This truck with a minimum 6 1/2 foot bed (I’m OK with a two-door version with a smaller back seat) a Coyote V8 (more reliable than this engine will be), and the Tremec 6 speed manual transmission From the Mustang Dark Horse/Mach 1/GT 350. Otherwise I have no interest in this truck
So rest of the world here, specifically New Zealand, We are only now starting to get some of the bigger trucks and yup get them for the guys with the massive boats who don't believe in leaving them in the water, I don't know what the hell thomas has in his race car, but I've towed with the Ranger, Nissan Navara, Mazda BT50 and GWM Canon both a BMW e36 endurance car and my AWD swapped focus rally car, with all the spares, including a extra engine double axle trailer and never had any issues, "Mid" size trucks now days are def the way to go.
As someone whos family bought ‘21 ranger, I’m mad we didn’t wait like 2 years
BPT over seas had tuned them to almost 500 hp and only raising the boost by 3 psi!!!
Apologies is this has already been asked, but where are did you film the desert running?
Why did we move away from column shifters?
"Still Ford built rough"
😂 James got jokes
Nice car

Kirby from SuperSmash
Some one has the ranger raptor in the same color in my town with a wide stance
What you guys call midsize truck is the trucksize we get in Europe. However, in Finland atleast, there seems to be scene where people have fullsize trucks imported over and often enough I have mistaken this new ranger as a full big truck. Maddeningly, raptor ones in here only produce 300ish hp because of emissions. Only a tune away from original numbers but still.
Mid-size pickups really have become quite large. I walked by a new Colorado the other day convinced it was a Silverado until I saw "Colorado" on the door.
I thought Extra Throttle House was supposed to be bare-bones and simple. What's with the incredible Kirby CGI?
This is the one we get here in Ireland!
These new-gen Rangers really are huge compared to their older counterparts, I drive an '04 FX-4 - it came with an off-road lifted suspension from the factory, and my Ranger is still absolutely dwarfed by the new Rangers.
In a way I'm envious of the cabin space, because I'm 6'2" and I get annoyed by my head touching the liner all the time, and my legs being too long to really be able to relax them in the cab, but the new models are just too much truck for city conditions.
When I saw this pop up in my feed, my thought was "are these guys testing 5 cars a day right now?" 🤣
What's the issue with the shifter?
I'm considering it as an LA car for sure.
You guys need to hop in the ZR2 Bison to test out the differences
This makes me miss Johnson valley
"Trucks have got way too big". Correct... for most people who dont use them as an appliance. All these short bed trucks are useless when you're hauling literal tons of mulch, etc.
$77K for a Ford Ranger good god that is nuts
Isn't it 57k?
77k CAD. 57k USD
@@joaquinpaul8205 Ok
@@penginer9344 57k in american dollars 77k in canadian dollars dummy

7:53 "baharing"
I love it when smaller cars get the top treatment like when the Cayman got the GT car treatment, or the 1 Series got the M treatment
This is just that, the Ranger getting the Raptor treatment Although, this car has an air of Caymanism, like it not having amber headlights because if you want that you have to get the F-150 or the Bronco, and the F-150's trombone loop for better sound? I remember I heard that wouldn't fit in the Ranger but it still sounds like an excuse Porsche would give for like the GT4 RS not getting a manual because it doesn't fit while it not being incredibly convenient by not cannibalizing 911 GT3 sales
But yeah, I love this! ❤️
It's one of the biggest trucks available in South Africa and very popular.
80k nah I'm good
You know you have made it when you are filming the Land Cruiser, and managed to get a Raptor and a LX600 as support vehicles.
"I would want the reliability of a Toyota, this is after all a Ford". Proceeds to break the Toyota in the sister video for the Land Cruiser. Throttle House is 2nd of three auto journalists I've watched so far (3 for 3) managed to break the new Toyotas. TFL, Throttle House and today Donut with over heating transmission during off roading.
400+hp is cool..
But honestly I'd buy a ZR2 and save a few bucks..sure it's not as quick, but does it really matter on off-road trails? Plus I find the ZR2 (and Canyon) more aggressive than the Ford..both are just as capable. Nice review.
What % of people who buy "offroad" oriented trucks actually do anything serious offroad?
That % is pretty low.
Shit most probably don't see a gravel road.
It's a status symbol/toy.
"the Colorado ZR2 Bye-Son"
Nice
This would go awesome with my Gen 1 Raptor Hennessey.
A little easier for the in-town drives.
Thomas trying out the paul harrel jacket?
Do a review of the new sonata pleaseeeeeee
