Hi Phil I've had my table saw for 2 years now and have carried out a few modifications as follows. Firstly, the two plastic guides on the underside of the fence lever held by four screws is to stick on two very thin plastic shims with mitre mate (I used the radiator wrap around pipe cover) now there is no wobble on the fence at all and runs true. Again on the fence, the second nut in from lever has an elongated hole underneath so if that was loosened, you can move the fence left or right to line it up. Lastly, if you look towards the motor from end on, you can see to the left (not on the motor) a little grub screw that you can adjust to take any slack up on the motor housing. With these tweaks and a new blade, I have a very accurate table saw. Paul
Hi Paul 👍🏻 thank you for the excellent tips and advice. I'm sure I will be following your advice. I do like this saw so far and recently got a new blade for it. Good bargain saw I feel.
@@PhillWyattProjects Hi Phill I persevered because although it is a cheap saw, I could see by making a few tweaks, the upgrades would make this saw more than a match for other brands. I also connected a soft start module and tomorrow, I will take delivery of a piece of aluminium 50mm x 50mm and attempt to make a new fence. All the best Paul
I think the general philosophy about tools is buy the best you can afford. I have gone through 2 cheap table saws and both gave crappy results. I would like a proper cast iron topped cabinet table saw, but cant afford one or justify the expense. I settled for a DeWalt jobsite saw, mainly because the fence is so accurate and by far the best. It does a very good job for me.
Thanks for the review Phill, I'm glad you went for this particular table saw as I have been looking at this for a while and have not yet taken the plunge. Like you my table saw which is an old B&Q thing around 20 years old spends a lot of it's time under a bench and only comes out when I need it and in fine weather. I have seen nothing in your review that puts me off of this saw, in fact it's a different class to the one I currently have. So may well get one eventually.
Thanks Steve 👍🏻 yea I'm pretty pleased with it for the price. Great for the odd bit of DIY and then light enough to store away and get back out when needed.
One way round that about the mitre gauge been slack on the runner do what I've done stick some duck tape on the underneath it on the gauge itself that will stop it from any movement it works a treat
@@johnrutherford4042 yea aluminium tape works well for that. I always keep mine pushed to the right of the slack that seems to keep it working accurately just need to remember to do it the same each time.

Hi Sandman yes I noticed the lack of reviews on TH-cam so decided to make one. Good point about them contacting TH-camrs for doing reviews I also thought they might have done this but don't think they have.
@@PhillWyattProjects hi Phil, I've got a few as it happens and yes I would recommend for the diyer. I've got a mitre saw and stand, orbital sander, trimmer router and a cordless nail gun. Hi! This is one of the best videos I have seen today! Keep uploading such nice videos. I look forward to more of your videos my friend. Have a wonderful day! Stay Connected! 😊
Excellent video. I bought one of these table saws on the recommendation from our builder who was boarding out our attic. Its a very nice saw indeed for my largely diy purposes. Like yourself I have noticed the slack on the mitre guide rail but its not too bad. Two things I am bamboozled about are the various measuring guides on the front of the saw. None seem to line up with the edge of the blade so how do you measure your cuts? Another thing that I would have found useful would have been a centerline marked on the table top so that I can see where the saw blade will be as I make a cut. This could also be used to measure the distance from the centre of the blade to the fence to check that it is parallel to the blade. Small gripes about the saw but a great video. Keep them coming.
Cheers David 👍🏻 yes I've kind of given up on the measuring guides at this point. They don't really work because when you lock the fence the back end of the fence goes out of line anyway. Also the little screen over the guide gets covered in sawdust after one cut. I now use a tape measure and measure both ends of the fence against the end of the table manually. I think it's great for DIY but not designed for real accuracy. I still like it though when considering the price. I think next time I buy a saw I will go for one with a rachet type fence like a DeWalt or a Bosch. These do cost quite a bit though.
@@PhillWyattProjects Go for it. I feel this is their opportunity to do what Evolution managed to do. They just need to utilise TH-cam more, by supporting channels like yours.
Hi Phil another useful video. I am in the UK.Where did you get this one? Can you do a separate video on Changing blades Applying oil to prevent rust. A table trolley with a Table to receive the timbre on the far side. What is the guarantee on this Excel table saw. Thanks
Hi I bought this table saw bk in February only used it a couple times great saw but one thing is how do you rip biggish size plywood or any sheets down using the table extension because the fence doesn’t attach properly to the table plus the fence lever gets in the way so wood doesn’t cut flush against the fence any ideas maybe if you could do a video using the table extension that would be great 😊
Thanks for letting me know I haven't had a problem with it yet so I'll have a look at the extension I'm sure I've used it a few times now don't remember having a problem with it. I'll get back to you👍🏻
Hi Phill, could you tell me what the minimum depth of cut is please, most reviewers only mention the max depth. Thinking about slotting. Thanks for an in depth review, very informative.
Hi mate, great video,do you still have the table saw,if so is it possible to send the the measurements so i can see if i can fit it in my little shed.I don’t trust the measurements on Amazon 😬Cheers buddy.
Thanks👍🏻 well a few things actually. I think it looks better to begin with. It also has a sliding extension table to the right which offers a larger cutting capacity. Also 2 x T track slots for cutting mitres either side of the blade. It's also easier to change the blade. On this one the blade goes up and down much easier too. Oh and the fence push locks. On my old saw you had to screw it both ends.
Now that you mention it yes it does look similar to the Rutlands 255mm Saw. I imagine that the Rutlands would be larger and heavier with the bigger blade.
It's kind of similar although this one is a bit lighter, has a better fence, and better extension. It's also easier to change the blade on this one. I prefer the feet on this one also.
I bought a new blade a while ago for it just haven't got round to fitting it yet. I don't like the blade that comes with it although I have been using it for a while it's good for getting started.
