On my Dell Inspiron you get 3 attempts then says computer will shut down in 5 minutes or press f1 to power down immediately

Must be an IT newbie. All this site has done for the last nine years is give out known factory default BOIS passwords, which work 0.00001% of the time.

Hello, this method removes the existing forgotten password permanently. So yes, it resets it.
