Mr. Berry: thank you, thank you, thank you. I have a very old Dell Inspiron 1600 Laptop that I purchased in 2006. I had to have the hard drive replaced about 5 years ago when the original no longer worked. At that time I had added an admin password to it, but I lost my record of the password. I was therefore completely locked out of the laptop. Thank God I found this instructional video of yours, showing me exactly, but very simply, how to Remove the existing password and get into my Setup to change the password. You have saved me so much aggravation and unnecessary expense. Thank you and God bless you.
Thank you! Everything worked, much to my surprise. I have plenty of computer knowledge, but it was quite the rabbit hole to go down trying to find a way to reset the BIOS lock quickly. Good video
It is incredible, I have looking for this key since I had to reset my computer and learn about the dark side of programming. It is an amazing and useful video. Thank you so much! Keep on lighting our minds please🥰
The dell laptop series I have is a Latitude E5440. I followed your instructions by pressing F2 immediately after turning on the power and the screen that came up is different than the one shown here. It has the same white box on the right with Settings, System Info. etc. but there’s no unlock button on the bottom of the page. Mine says Load Defaults, Apply (grayed out) and Exit. Any suggestions?
When the system boots up, do you see any text. Besides using F2, some units have used F11, F10, esc, or even the Delete key, but those other keys would be used only an Admin changed the default settings
2023 and you're still savings butts! My step-dad had some retired Dell Latitude laptops I got when he passed. The two of them that had better specs and screens were BIOS locked. If it wasn't for your video I would have just settled as using them for parts! Thanks so much! *Edit* grammar

Hey sir thank you for your help I did what you said it did'nt go into the settings the first time I hit enter the second time and the settings page and everything below it showed up.This laptop was given to me some years back and I forgot the passed word not sure where to go from here to get it working again.
Hello! I ahem question, when I do this method it only gives me a few passwords that don't work for the laptop, how come with other laptops it has a list of passwords but mine doesn't? Mines a school laptop that I found in the trash a few days ago, been tryna change bios settings since, ever, but no luck, i can't get this damn admin password
I do know that some of the codes that are hard to read as their ones and zeroes look the same as their letters i, L, and o... that causes the most problems in my class as we unlock these Dell laptops. Also, please remember to use the Ctrl + enter after keying in the code.
@@selmateacher7 Ima try to use the letters first, but here's the thing, when I put the first code in it sent me to a page that only had one code, which was just a bunch of letters and not any numbers, it was a hdd serial something something That's what I typed in and didn't show it worked. So I'm asking myself if there's any way to bypass this admin password without the website. Any alternatives I guess. I tried resetting the cmos but it literally stayed the same which sucked

Awesome thanks mate. Like someone else mentioned, better to use an external keyboard (USB) because the default keyboard may use a different regional layout, which makes it hard to insert the right code! Cheers
Whoa. I have not seen that message in any of the units that we service in our classroom. But this message may be caused by an external device that is connected to the computer. So, if your machine is stuck on the “Just a Moment” screen you can try to remove externally connected devices like USB devices, wireless mouse / keyboard, Bluetooth adapters, . Turn it off and wait 1 hour. Then restart. If still stuck, power off your machine, wait 2 minutes then power back on and try again.

I believe only the BIOS codes will work. On some units, we were able to reset the BIOS with the reset BOS switch, found on the motherboard. If all else fails, you may call Dell support for a release code.
That is true, but I am only helping. If a thief stills a Dell laptop, they would normally want to hack the Windows password and not even worry about the BIOS password. So they would run an app like OPHcrack or go through hacking the system's OS password tables to do that.
True indeed ! Hacking the windows password isn’t called hacking anymore, there are tools easy to use and with a bit of brains anyone can access a windows account ! ;-)
@Beard Muscle Sorry to hear that. On some codes , it can be difficult to decode their letters and numbers as their zeros and ones look like the letters O and L or I. Please try both combinations or copy their code and paste it into a word processor document and change their font. This is what many of my students do.
When you click on set and leave it blank, does it remove the password as seen in the video? Also, after doing the steps, are you able to make other changes within the BIOS?

For the Vostro 14, please do this: Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the computer. Open the base of the computer up and locate the password reset jumper (PSWD) on the system board. Remove the jumper plug from the password jumper-pins. Power on without the jumper plug to clear the password. Then turn off, set the jumper back and close the system.
This actually didn't work for Dell Latitude 7390 (2019) with tag ending in -E7A8. Solution: If the System Password is still not set in the BIOS, you can set it with your own password. Reboot and you will be greeted with the Dell Security Manager. Enter the system number in the website (it can change or it can be the same), then enter the serial in the Dell Security Manager and hit Ctrl + Enter. If there are multiple serials, try each row. Mine worked the first try. Hope someone finds this useful.
@Selmateacher - Thanks for a great video; however the bios-pwd site did not generate any for my Dell latitude laptop 5300, having MY 2020. I can share you the system number with hash code, if you can help
Here are some ways to reset the BIOS password on a Dell Latitude 5300 laptop, if the website did not help: 1: Use the System BIOS or System Setup screen Go to the System BIOS or System Setup screen, select System Security, and press Enter. Verify that Password Status is Unlocked, then select System Password or Setup Password. Change or delete the password, then press Enter or Tab. Press Esc to save the changes, then press Y to exit from System Setup. 2: Reset the CMOS or NVRAM Resetting the CMOS or NVRAM will reset the BIOS to factory default settings and remove the passwords. This can be done by opening the laptop's back panel and removing the CMOS battery for about five minutes, then reinserting it.
Hey Berry, I just upgraded my Inspiron 5749 (i5-5200U) to a ssd. Now I have this issue of bios password. I couldn't find the system code in bios settings as shown in the video. But I think as per the code combo mentioned in the Bios-pw website I found a serial number on back of my laptop. When entered on the website I couldn't find anything generated. What to do in my case?
If you have a Dell with only the service tag, I found this site: bios-fix.com//index.php?resources/dell-without-any-suffix-unlock-bios-password.85/ but they want a payment to do it. Have you tried closing the password clear switch on the mainboard as shown here: www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000131024/how-to-clear-the-bios-password
@@LifeWithKoudie I am always here to help. I apologize for not being clear. I will ask a different question. Do you need the password to log into Windows or do you need the password to make changes to the BIOS settings?

Good question: got a hold of a Dell Inspiron 1525 (an older laptop) that has the "administration p/w required...." The System # is displayed. I tried the bios-pw site, and a couple of codes came up. But the real problem is that there is no text box to enter a p/w, right or wrong - " invalid p/w, press Enter to retry". Any suggestions? Thank you I tried holding / pressing F2 but system won't enter bios. 🤓 After a few attempts, the "press Enter to Abort" comes up, press Enter, then the laptop shuts down. Another method is to remove the CMOS battery for a while, reinstall it, and in the meantime the BIOS resets itself. If I have another similar Inspiron, a working 1420, would putting the HDD from the BIOS / admin locked laptop in the other laptop allow access to the HDD? I am not sure about the 1525s keyboard! It may not work properly! 😠😡

Thanks for the video although it did not work for myself. When I enter code and select get password it only comes up with the HDD drive password and no other ones. Can you please offer any further assistance?
Ouch. It seems that you have a system that has multiple security . This video is for the BIOS Admin password only, so you can reinstall the OS, upgrade, or format the HDD. I have other videos for Windows passwords, but for the HDD protection. No. You may format, erase , and delete partitions on that HDD. Once the drive is formatted, we no longer see any HDD passwords as all of the data on said HDD is gone after that.
Do you know ho to do this for service tags? i.e. I have a 7-digit number that does not include the last 4 digits "-XXXX". This is what I get when I restart my laptop, I am locked out of using it without paying Dell for the privilege of using my property :/
I have bypassed the BIOS admin password by removing the CMOS battery on the Mobo but now it's asking for a HDD password. From researching, I found Dell stores another password on the drive itself to protect peoples data. I don't care if I erase everything on the drive, just want to get a working laptop again.

For the BIOS password for the Dell Latitude 5480, there are a few options you can try to regain access to the BIOS. Option 1: Try the Default Password Some Dell laptops have a default password that can be used to access the BIOS. You can try the following default passwords: "Dell" "Admin" "Password" "123456" "0000" Option 2: Remove the CMOS Battery Removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard can reset the BIOS password. To do this, you will need to open the laptop and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery for 10-15 minutes and then re-install it. Option 3: Use the Master Password If you can provide the service tag of your laptop, Dell may be able to provide you with a master password that you can use to access the BIOS. You can find the service tag on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop or by running the "wmic bios get serialnumber" command in the Command Prompt. Mines a school laptop that I found in the trash a few days ago, been tryna change bios settings since, ever, but no luck, i can't get this damn admin password

After I did what you said, I put in the code. Now, What if my computer says... Just a moment...how can I get out of this?
Remove the jumper plug from the password jumper-pins. Power on without the jumper plug to clear the password. Then turn off, set the jumper back and close the system.

This actually didn't work for Dell Latitude 7390 (2019) with tag ending in -E7A8.
Solution:
If the System Password is still not set in the BIOS, you can set it with your own password.

Here are some ways to reset the BIOS password on a Dell Latitude 5300 laptop, if the website did not help:
1: Use the System BIOS or System Setup screen
Go to the System BIOS or System Setup screen, select System Security, and press Enter. Verify that Password Status is Unlocked, then select System Password or Setup Password. Change or delete the password, then press Enter or Tab. Press Esc to save the changes, then press Y to exit from System Setup.
2: Reset the CMOS or NVRAM
Resetting the CMOS or NVRAM will reset the BIOS to factory default settings and remove the passwords. This can be done by opening the laptop's back panel and removing the CMOS battery for about five minutes, then reinserting it.

For the BIOS password for the Dell Latitude 5480, there are a few options you can try to regain access to the BIOS.
Option 1: Try the Default Password Some Dell laptops have a default password that can be used to access the BIOS. You can try the following default passwords:
"Dell"
"Admin"
"Password"
"123456"
"0000"
Option 2: Remove the CMOS Battery Removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard can reset the BIOS password.
