      LFR FAMILY Van..serious note..if ppl are wanting one thing but u can understand the meaning try this..turn on ur captions during a video of whichever band so that you can please everyone!!! That way u can know what they are saying while watching the videos..just a suggestion since u keep getting pulled from different directions. Js..that may work..I do it when I watch tv so I don’t have to crank the volume up..guess all my bumping in my car for years has messed with my hearing.. so it’s worth a try 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ the bitch with all the answers, ~ Dee😝

      So hyped to see it's your first time with Rush, and as a drum fan to start with YYZ(ed) I knew you'd love it. Like Krieger said in Archer "Neil Peart stands alone".

      Greg Smithfield go like my comment..I sent him the link to the live from Frankfurt!! I’m not sure why he chose this one but I did give him the link. He may have picked this one because it’s shorter?? But again peart was only using the smaller version of the drums and the video quality on this one is not good..not compared to Frankfurt that’s like HD and no guitar or back noise and closeup..just spam him up with correct link

    🤣😂🤣😂!!! Your reaction is priceless and everything I had hoped it would be. Yeah, he was (and still is afaik) the "Godzilla" of the drums and *every* drummer looked up to him for his talent on the drums. His is and will always be missed R.I.P to the GOAT of the Drums, Neil Peart.

      Yes, watch the Frankford solo. Happened years later, longer solo very impressive

    • @tonyr2360
      @tonyr2360 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't that this was one of his shorter solos...they edited the rest of the solo out due to time constraints on VHS tapes. The version of this solo on the CD is longer, but still edited for time. As a drummer (going on the 40 year mark now...God, I'm getting old!) I like this solo so much more than the Frankfurt solo. This solo really showcases his snare work and interplay with the hi-hat. It also has his trademark cowbell solo, that he got away from in the later years. Just personal preference, of course - but this is my favorite Neil Peart solo, followed by the solo on Exit...Stage Left.

    • @deanlindholm8663
      @deanlindholm8663 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tonyr2360 I also prefer this one. Saw this tour in 2 different locations, the EXACT same solo both times. I think this was was better written that the frankfurt one, and I think he thought so as well

    As some fans call them......The Holy Trinity! All of them are apex musicians. If you want to see some incredible musicianship you should check out Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left. Peart is a beast as well as Alex, but to see Geddy sing, play bass, Taurus pedals, and keyboard if frickin mind blowing. I’m thoroughly enjoying your reactions to Neil and Rush. Because, yes, it’s a helluva think to take three guys who are all masters of their instruments, put them in one band, get the drummer to write the most amazing lyrics to be found in progressive rock, let them collaborate on the music writing, and then watch them play the hell out of every sing in their repertoire for forty years. These guys were beasts. Giants among men.And what they created will live on forever. Just FYI, mullet man (aka Geddy Lee) plays the bass guitar which typically has four strings. Bass and drums typically drive the rhythm of a band. Lee always dazzles because he often takes on elements of the melody line in his playing. You even hear him producing chords on his bass.

    Coming back to this after seeing your more recent reaction to the Rio live version of YYZ... I love seeing this, because this tour was literally my very first concert experience. As you might guess, I tried to see Rush on every tour since then. ^_^
    Just an interesting thing to note here... at the time of this tour, most people knew about the live YYZ version from Exit Stage Left and there Neil attacks his drum solo right where that biggest drum break happens in the song (in the middle). So when fans heard YYZ start up here, everyone was amped for that same drum solo... but at that middle break, Neil just did the fill like the album version. You might notice that while the crowd is still hot, there is a bit of a letdown you can feel at that moment... and I felt it at the show I saw on this tour too. Everyone was like, “No drum solo? Awwwww man...”
    And then the Professor drops that masterpiece on us when we’re not expecting it, at the end... fire, pure and simple.

    Hey man, I grew up in Maryland, D.C area in the 80's and it's funny how you mentioned the GoGo bands. I remember a most, if not the most important band in that era by the name of Rare Essence. The kids in school used to bang on the school desks imitating the drums. You look pretty young but you've probably heard of them, I'm sure!

    It was once said about Neil Peart that he is your favorite drummer's favorite drummer. If Neil Peart was #1a for me then Danny Carey from Tool is #1b. I highly recommend checking out some of his drum cam videos.

    What a lot of people don't realize is that YYZ is the transmitter code for Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto (Rush's home town) and this song was written as a tribute to their home town. Every airport is assigned a unique 3 letter code, and that code is always being transmitted so that pilots can tell, roughly, where they are and verify that their navigational radios are tuned properly.
    Morse code -. -- -. -- --.
    Peart said that the rhythm stuck with Him, every time they landed in Toronto.
    RIP Neil Peart. Long live "the Professor".

    You need to watch the Neil Peart drum solo live in Frankfurt! Also you need to watch more Rush videos, they make a three piece band sound like 6 guys! The deeper you go the more you will love them and the more your mind will be blown! Neil is “the Professor”

    The long guitar you pointed out is called a Bass guitar. Just about every rock band (and most bands in general) will have a Bassist, Guitarist, and a Drummer. This is called the Rhythm section.
    A Bassist or Bass Guitarist( both terms work) lays down the base note in the chord of the phrase in a much lower register. Bass is usually most prominent in bass-heavy genres like Funk, Metal, Blues, and Disco.
    The drummer, of course, sets the tempo for the song and adds in appropriate fills (short and minor solos in between phrases) to keep the feel of the song fresh.
    There are usually two types of Electric Guitarists; Lead and Rhythm, though some bands have guitarists that do both, like The Who, Queen, RATM, Tool, and plenty of other bands.
    Rhythm guitarists hold down the main riffs and chords, allowing the Lead guitarist to add in licks (similar to fills) and solos when necessary.

    Check out "Der Trommler" solo in Frankfurt, Germany. Another good one he named "The Rythm Method". He played a shorter solo on "Late Night With David Letterman" around age 60.
    If you like jazz 🎺 watch him in the Buddy Rich Tribute. Buddy Rich was an idol and Rich's daughter asked Peart to head up his tribute concert. Also search for him playing "Cotton Tail", another jazz classic.
    Neil wrote all Rush's lyrics. He was extremely intelligent.
    He turned his drumsticks around so the heavy end struck the drums in order to play with more force His drum tech talked about how hard he hit the drums and cymbals. He had to replace cracked cymbals a lot. Neil was 6'4" tall and had a long reach to get to many drums which you noticed encircled him.
    When watching his solos notice how many times all 4 limbs were playing different cadences.
    In the early 1990's he started taking lessons from a drum teacher named Freddy Grueber (sp?). He was already considered by many the greatest drummer of all time, but he wanted to play even better. For several albums he played with a traditional grip.
    Sorry for all the unconnected facts. Just trying to relay as much information about him.
    He was my favorite musician.
    Enjoyed your reaction!
    Respectfully,
    Loren-lifelong Rush fan.
