Beautiful looking machine. I recently looked at defenders with my uncle. Can am needs to update the interior of the defender, especially the ac and heat controls. If they made the interior more modern, bumped up the power and upgraded the suspension to compete in 2025 they’d have a pure winner.
I've heard that the Xpedition is super loud inside. Also a buddy of mine drove one like that and loved the sound system and ride command. But said it drives like a truck not a utv. He didn't like that. I love your videos very informative. Thanks
The xpedition is the loudest of all cabbed HVAC units I’ve tested. But it’s also the fastest best riding one by a long shot. You friend is correct the sound system in the xpedition is really good for a factory unit. I’ve seen so many hype them up and be garbage 🗑️ This one is worth the hype. As far as driving it feels wonderful on a trail once you adapt to the driving. Appreciate the feedback.
Just wanted to say thank you. With the help of these videos and Can am adding the smart locker. Yesterday I went an picked up a 24 limited. It’s a ton nicer than my 2016 pioneer was. Hope this one is as reliable as my Honda was… btw I found 2 dealerships that isn’t charging all them extra fees here in Mississippi…
Glad to help buddy. Appreciate the feedback. Most dealers are starting to drop the fees as lots are filling up. Glad to hear you found a good dealer. Let me know how it treats you over time. Best of luck
Great video. The lower center of gravity of the xpedition paired with the suspension is what makes it a better trail rig. Also the lower gearing in the xpedition makes it better to run bigger tires. Can am finally went to a true front locker. Idk why they didnt do it a long time ago. The defender now has the same frint diff as the xmr. Im not sure but i think the xmr still has lower gearing.
Good video. Something to consider is price. Polaris is around $50k and Defender is around $36k in most areas, from what I’ve seen. That’s enough of a difference to allow a buyer to buy a 7x14 trailer and add mods to the Defender for the price of the Polaris.
Great video. My local dealer has this exact rig but it's a 2023 so no Smart Lock. They are knocking $2K off MSRP so it's a good deal but I am hung up it not having the Smart Lock. Am I overthinking it? We don't really do any rock climbing just easy trail riding and I also need a work rig. If I wait for a 2024 it will be another year. The only reason they have this rig available is someone cancelled their order. I live in Alaska so there is only a few dealers and limited inventory. Appreciate your videos very much. I just subscribed.
@@americandream_89 I am in Anchorage but Wasilla or Kenai are close by. Delta Junction is a bit far but worth the drive if the price is right. Thanks for the link to the video. Will check it out tonight.
It really depends on what type of riding you’re referencing the 1500 to me. Seems like a pure farm machine. For one reason, it’s extremely long and tall. It also shifts totally different compared to a CVT and I’ve seen hundreds people complain about it shifting characteristics for trail riding don’t get me wrong. It’s a great machine and can do about anything but if you’re gonna trail riding, just get an xpedition. The xpedition will be louder in the cab, but its riding characteristics are the best in the industry for a HVAC cab.
In the year 2022 I bought a brand new MAVERICK X3 XRS MAX TURBO RR with smart shocks here in germany and this sxs costs here over 40k....with street legal registration and fully upgrades BUT the qualify of built was a nightmare. Losen or missing bolts or nuts. Many scratches on the plastic parts, most near of screws which looks an mechanic fastened plastic parts and covers with a speed drill and scratching over... ...next lost tools and wrenches if I pick up at the local dealer and starting to drive home. First corner after leaving the official dealer shop, only few yards down the street I hear a loud shattering noise and look out of the side door and seen a wrench slippering over the driveline, I stop and pick up this lost wrench/tool. Next day I start to a ride, few moments later I hear another noise, which comes from an lost yellow reflector from right front.... ...and so on and so on....next to a wiper washer does not work, the water hose not connected to the wiper arm. If you switch the wiper washer it's sprays water under the glove/cockpit on your feet's. My mind about CAN AM, they have to invest in quality management BEVOR the customer pick up his expensive "toy". It's a shame to invest +40k and got a lost tool box or missing spare parts puzzle on wheels. Next to the actual MAVERICK R, this costs here in germany +60K plus street legal registration and with my words "WHY I SHOULD SPEND TO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS TOOL BOX?!" I sale my XRS one year later and invest the money in a brand new UAZ BUCHANKA 2206 ANNIVERSARY and gotten MORE for my money and next to 10k hold back in my purse.
The polaris looks like its built just so much better, its also 15k more and a totally different machine. I wish the defwnder had at least 106 hp and better shocks.
Canam hasn’t made their version of the expedition yet.. so this comparison is like comparing a $80,000 jeep rubicon to a base model dodge durango lol.. it’s not on the same planet let alone level
Defender interior is horrible. Those switches look home made. Not sure why they didn’t just have a rocker for 2wd/ 4wd and then a rocker for rear diff lock (like how they do) then a rocker for front diff locker
Why does everyone compare these 2? They aren't even the same class of machine. Ranger xp1000 and defender would be the true match up everyone wants, and the defender wins in every category besides not having an equivalent to ride command.
People want to see this match up to decide if it’s worth the jump from a defender. Also people that don’t have a cabbed machine want to know which to buy.

They are loud but polaris has came out with an update to make them much quieter.
Most of these kind of vehicles are too loud and much too expensive for what they are.
@eriklarsson3188 i agree, for 45k for a sxs youd think it would be more vehicle like then sxs other than hvac and glass windows.

Always enjoy these videos . I’ve heard several people mention the expedition is very loud in the cab , having to add sound deadening etc .
Thanks buddy
The xpedtion is noisy at times. I’ve almost got used to it now.

Not currently
But I do enjoy them
Another great video
I appreciate that

what is the decibel readings for the defender cab? Idle and getting up to speed say 65 mph. I seen where you done this on the Polaris.
It’s insane difference but I can’t remember the numbers.

How much clearance would I need in my garage to get that Defender in?
They fit in a 7ft garage door
