It's the same situation in South Africa where the colonialist and perpetrator of apartheid doesn't want economic justice for the marginalized indigenous black population. I feel sorry for those who think they can vote for hatred like what just happened in the US and think the Maori will take it lying down. Time for independence from the crown and let the chips fall where they may.

What is the goal of the protest and what don't they like about the bill specifically? An actual part of the bill? Or just assumptions?
Nothing about the bill reflects racism, and it would help to improve the situation for maori.
But people just trust what others say about things and end up supporting a false narrative, certain politicians and cultural representatives use fantasy stories to motivate the gullible to push their agenda.

The Treaty is about relations between Te Whenua Maori and The Crown. It is not and never has been about so-called "universal human rights" which is a red herring dreamed up by right wing reactionaries as an excuse to ditch the Treaty and erase Maori from the fundamental document of New Zealand. Thanks for this coverage Moana!! Really terrific to hear that tangata tiriti have / are walking with Māori. And having the kind of conversations David Seymour and ACT could’ve enabled, but didn’t.
Seymour’s ongoing lie, that the process of fast-tracking a parliamentary Bill, that was written behind closed doors, is a conversation, dishonours all who call Aotearoa NZ home. Any process of legislating principles of Te Tiriti needs to be slow, very considered, include wide consultation with wise people and elders, including (obviously) Māori.

I applaud the disruption of the haka in parliament. Young people standing up, resisting and pushing back fearlessly inside and outside parliament. My generation has played by Pākeha rules with peaceful protests, etiquette, laws, rules, etc. All of it, and here I am walking that bloody bridge a third time. I'm too old to be repeating this hikoi every time successive governments try to I$rael us. The only difference this round is the assertion of a Maori woman's voice of frustration in a place she's been charged to represent the people. Maipi-Clark can't just slap Seymour. That's uncool. This is Maori culture and the power of women. That's very cool.
In the hikoi, there wasn't the heaviness or sadness of past protests. It wasn't solemn. Support was represented by every culture in Auckland on land and sea. There was laughter, joy, and a unity for shared partnership. Seymour, in his stupidity, has created a resistance movement that isn't good for politics but healthy for the collective who uphold peace.
Politicians who believe the House is falling or failing standards are fooling themselves. Democracy across the West that uphold standards and etiquette in their houses of parliament are failing people who protest regularly and in developed countries rioting regularly. According to ICC and ICJ, these very proper representatives are complicit to gen0$ide, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid. And Soper deludes himself if he thinks we should be like them. Hard no. It's just the crackhead coalition he supports. Z10nism and the West's te3303ism disguised as Democracy is dying along with Seymour's contribution and parliament debates of the past. Hobson's Pledge and Balfour Declaration? Same-same. Absolutely no place in Te tiriti.

Maori party do not represent every Maori person.
Forcing Group tribal identity and ransoming the rest of the country by performing a ritual dance of war is not civil.

End the Treaty, Make the New Treaty Equal
    Spoke at the treaty's centennial
In 1940 Sir, Apirana Ngata spoke at a ceremony to re-enact the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. In his speech, he:
Acknowledged that the first article of the treaty gave New Zealand's sovereignty to Queen Victoria and her descendants So to honest, The Way HRH Elizabeth , God Rest Her Soul, Had been dishonored, sad.
Encouraged Pākehā to recognize the uniqueness of Māori culture .
Affirmed Māori commitment to the British Empire during World War II DONE.
Expressed misgivings about the centennial year, noting that Māori had approached it with grievances about lost lands, humbled chiefs, and scattered culture .
To read and Ponder will I. 🎉🐍⚖️☝️🔥

@@deanspanley4472 sir apirana is one man, not all iwi. Kawanatanga means to govern not sovereignty. Tino Rangatiratanga means self determination. Majority signed the te reo version. Under contra proferentum and international law, the standing document is the te reo version. The seed was planted long before.
