As a mixed Maori European New Zealander, I find that listening to Shane Jones inspires me to focus on the future rather than dwelling on the past. His words empower me that, as a community, we must take responsibility for our own destiny. The hidden narrative and sense of division being created by the Maori Party saddens me, as it is deepening the divide among us all. I want inclusion for all New Zealanders, and it is up to us our generation to drive change and shape the path ahead. By embracing this mindset, we can overcome these obstacles and create opportunities for ourselves and future generations.

Well said Shane, there were terrible events in our history, on both sides..think of the little village, near Hastings, which were attacked in the night as they slept... a settlement of 48 people mostly woman and children all slaughtered by TeKooti... Who then celebrated his deeds rolling in their blood and singing! You cannot cherry pick tragic events from history to suit your own agenda and not knowledge the fact that 92 settlers lost their lives at the hands of Maori extremists. Shane is correct we cannot re write history, we can only learn from it and move forward into the future and leave our poor ancestors to rest in peace. Move forward as one people and continue what our ancestors started, building our nation together.

If a "white person" said what Shane has said here, they would be attacked for being a racist. The fact that Shane is of Te Aupōuri and Ngāi Takoto descent as well as a bunch of British genes thrown in as well, gives him the unwritten right to "tell it like it is" which is refreshing. He knows, because he has a brain, that if the venom spouted by the maori party were actually true, the country would never have succeeded. The simple fact that NZ has been so successful, is a testament to the democratic system we operate under. If it slides any further towards apartheid, it could be catastrophic the same way it has happened in other countries that are literally falling apart right now.

I don't think Shane will thank you for throwing in ''a bunch of British genes'' as he is half Dalmation and as proud of that heritage, as he is of his Maori side. But one thing is for sure he has, and still does serve the people of our country unlike the Maori Party and their followers, who are doing their best to divide and destroy our society. Certainly a powerful speech, but it, unfortunately, falls upon the deaf ears of some who are too ignorant to listen.

"RUBBISH" He's a puppet in colonial terms; while in coalition he has power and at his terminology which is gibberish you need to read between he's lines!
He wants the right/white vote so he can follow them to power; Haha! Being Maori will give you that enjoy the gravy train it will never give him status in right/white eyes🤔🤫🤨👎👎

Thank you Shane. You are saying exactly how we are feeling. The comments speak for themselves. You have the support of most New Zealanders who are sick of Labour, Greens and The Maori Parties who only want to divide this great country.

As part Māori part Croatian now living in Australia I can only look back and see that setting our children on a journey to be assets to the community instead of victims. My people need to move forward instead of being ignorant of the fact.
It definitely starts with parenting our children for tomorrow’s world instead of dwelling on the past.
That comes with making the right choices to give our children a better future. Shane Jones has direction.

U can't tell people to move on when its still happening. Just say ur one of the lucky ones it never happened to. Just say u aint in court to live on ur own land. Just say u don't care if ur river is polluted(brown muck=ecoli). Just say you don't care if our tamariki in government care never knew their whakapapa or where they are from basically orphaning those children. Those of us who don't "move on" do care and will continue to care. I don't care if you think were victimizing ourselves cause u just don't get it.
