Black & grey fitted styles were always my go-to colours/shapes too. Now I'm 64 (and mostly silver haired) I find that browns & beiges suit my colouring better and looser fits are so much more comfortable. If I were being honest, I should have transitioned in my 40s, but pride (and working in a corp environment) held me back. Well done for trying it sooner than I did. You look lovely in your finds. 😊
Love all your Thrrfting, you're great👏👏would love to do some Thrifting on my outfits., learnt a lot from you by following your video's... Thank you so much 🙏
Fabulous haul! Here's a fool proof way to tell if fabric is silk. Try to get a couple strands or small piece from scrap or from where it won't show. Then light it with a lighter. If it smells like human hair when it burns, it is silk. If it melts, it's poly or some other synthetic. Really works!
I love all the looks you put together from your pieces. Fabulous! Last year I thrifted a like new cashmere sweater from Neiman Marcus for $1.64! It was my first experience in the clothing by the pound section of Salvation Army. I don't know why it was relegated to that section, but it was a great find.
Lots of wonderful combinations. I am not favouring the boyfriend jacket as I think the shoulders are too big. I love how you showed exactly how you adjusted the pants and the lovely top at the end. Now I am looking to make some changes to clothes that I have purchased but never worn.
Good for you for thrifting your own wardrobe! I love that, and I do a bit of it in the video I'm working on right now. You might enjoy it so stay tuned!
You look lovely in the creams and browns! I think they flatter your coloring more than black or grey, at least on the camera. That second cashmere and cream sweater make your skin just glow!
Woohoo awesome video Catherine - yet more great little tips as you sew along and inspirational ideas for upcycling and making garments fit the look you after. Great work. Thank you!
Wow wish our thrift stores - called charity shops in the UK had cracking stuff like this! Having said that, I have had some decent finds. Love what you have created, thanks for sharing, xxx
Gathering the neckline to fit the bias tape-brilliant!!! I think the only thing you could change would be something done with the sleeves. For some reason, that’s the only thing that screams at me. I so much love watching your videos as this Old Dog always learns a new trick or two. Thank you!
I buy lots of clothes from charity shops, high end labels are a fraction of the new price but have never thought of making alterations if a garment was too big. Your tutorials are giving me food for thought, I will now look more closely at items I like but need tweaking in some way. Xx
Love your fall haul! Maybyou can advise me. A couple years ago i bought a pair of never worn Pendleton fully loned wool plaid women's trousers (mostly grey with a touch of camel & winter white). I had originally planned to overdye them & use them as fabric in wool applique projects but i tried them on & the waist & hips fit perfectly. I think id get more use out of them if I could turn them into a pebcil skirt rather than leave them as trousers. The only pants into skirts ideas that I've seen on TH-cam has the crouch lines ss part of the 'design' & looks very '60s hippy. These are way too elegant for that- think Katharine Hepburn. Thanks for all the great videos you've posted. Im sure your students love you!
Those stripy pants look so good on you. Love the jumper & your neck grimace ...lol. It all looks great. Thanks for the tip with the edges, something I struggle with. Thanks for sharing all this! :)
Love what you did with the striped jeans! I'm with you on the neck lines. I can't even wear most necklaces. I think you look good in the neutral camel and cream colors. TFS
You really scored! I personally loved all the brown pieces, as thats my go to comfort colors with touches of orange , peach, rust, salmon and pink. I guess I will use your inspiration to revamp my fall to winter clothes as well. I've scored a multitude of linen pieces that I really need to upcycle. Now I know how! Thanks again! 🤩👍
With your coloring the brown/beige family is a much better choice! You have some great finds there. Minus that big dark jacket… those shoulder pads make it way to big/sloppy on you… maybe rethink that one!
I started making videos of the pieces i thrift at the Goodwill outlet (aka The Bins). Textiles sell for 1.89 a pound. I have to make minor repairs but i like doing that. I also like to play with my clothing, don't sew anywhere nearly as well as you do! #darylshops

Lovely choices. You have a bargain wardrobe but no one would know. x
I’m in love with that last outfit. Adorable! 💜
You’ve bought some lovely things, thankyou for the tip on sewing the sequin top from the bottom up to meet where you stopped .
Yep, that's where I messed up on my tank. 😢
You’re terrific Catherine. So talented. Great taste. Fun personality too.
Your fall wardrobe is really great! I'm pretty jealous of the cashmere sweaters.
Great selection of items. You have a new Fall wardrobe.
Pant alteration looks nice.
Wow they are all lovely😍 My favorite is the long beige cashmere sweater. It goes really well with black skinny and beautiful on you!!
Thanks Jin! It's a lot of fun to thrift your wardrobe!
Thanks for all the styling shots!
Very nice finds! I need jackets like that!
Good thriving. You got some nice pieces.

You are beutiful in the fall colors you picked out, they look so nice on you and match your personality!
Thank you so much!
🎉🎉wow. Great finds. I loved the “ROCK STAR “ outfit. And the long sweater dress. I could live in that one. Thank you.
Love your finds! Love bringing all my finds together.
Wow, great video! I'm going to a resale shop and see what I can find. TY
Such a fun video. Thanks

⛷️🚠 I especially love the ski lift skirt. I hope you wear it a lot! Lol. You found so many beautiful things!

Definitely! Being able to alter clothing opens up the entire store to you!
Beautiful fall wardrobe! Just wear the cashmere turtleneck and rock it like Diane Keeton does!😘

Love thrifting! You definitely got the look! When you get tired of the long cashmere look me up! ;)
You tick all the boxes. ❤👍💃🏽🧵🧵🧵
Love the striped purple bells ! Had similar pants in wardrobe for college ala 1968 thru '71 !!😁😁
Nice sewing.
I enjoy thrifting, but I'm usually not looking at clothes. Your video is motivating me to check out the clothes next time I go.
Fantastic to hear! It's the most sustainable way to dress yourself, and it's really fun!
Awesome Finds!!😊

Great re-sale is haul.WOW!!!
Awesome, Catherine!
Thank you, my friend!
BTW, TH-cam is missing you!!
@@CatherineSews Editing a double episode. Taking double the time...ugh
That’s the only way I shop anymore is thrift stores. I can’t afford the regular store clothes anymore.
Thrifting is the best way to shop! I rarely buy anything new anymore, and I generally don't feel great about it when I do.
Why did you not use the serger for the pink items? The serger made much smoother seams.

I've never taught science.
You taught at McNair didn’t you?
You will remember me as soon as I say. You remember the Isuzu trooper you gave me
