I have a very similar floral knit dress and I've never been able to put my finger on exactly why I don't love it. It's super comfortable, but from the bust up, it's just blah. Now I know what I'm going to do with it!! I hate the short sleeves hitting at the bicep and the neckline is also too high. The striped dress before view screams "sexy prisoner Halloween costume" 😂
Oh my goodness, I love your description of the grey striped dress! 🤣🤣🤣 Good luck with your own dress upcycle!
Your upcycle videos are my favourites! You always do such a beautiful job.
Thanks so much, Lou! I always appreciate your support!!
I love when you butcher dresses 😂😂. Great creativity 👍😎🐕🦺🐈⬛
Your ingenuity always blows my mind!! I learn so much from when you do these. The close up camera work is always very clear. Your 3 garments turned out fabulous!!
Thanks so much, Marion! That’s lovely to hear!
Cuteness x 3! -really helpful instruction on using the serger’s differential feed to gather & love how you showed how to use the 1” strip to face/bind the neckline. Thanks again for all you share
Great to hear, Beth! Thank you!
Catherine, you are just amazing with your sewing skills.
Thanks so much, Sonia! Much appreciated!
The dress would look way cute with a skinny bright pink belt and it would define your waist too! Cute stuff
totally loved this one. i sew clothes for my family but from new materials. you inspire me and i can try to dig into my closet to try upcycle something
We have different styles but you’re such a good teacher I still watch your videos
The flounce dress is awesome, but the two shirts!😍 Score! And that floral T really IS pretty; the wide neck with the cap sleeves is so graceful!!
What I love about your videos is your instruction and your joy and enthusiasm for your final product.
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
All the upcycles turned out so cute! Since you frequently put your hair up in a ponytail why not make scrunchies with the leftover bits?
I just suggested that too! Definitely!!
The scrunched is a great idea!
You are so talented. I learn so much from your videos.
It’s amazing how you transform clothes into beautiful new garments!
This was such an inspiring video and you have a great way of showing your thought process. The way you refashion knits makes it so simple and straightforward. As a hard core thrifter who prefers knits, I cannot thank you enough for this video!
Catherine You’re a genius love watching you 👏🏻🇬🇧
You are amazing. I thought the stripe t shirt was so cute when you got it done and the print t also. When you suggested the tiny little sleeve for the dress I thought yuck, buuuut, then you added the ruffle and I thought she should be a designer for recycling clothing. You have a mini collection. I am very much inspired! Thank you for sharing your gift. Love your show.
Love watching these. When you know your craft, infinite possibilities.
WOWZA.....Once again .....Fabulous design and impeccable fabrication , Catherine. ❤❤❤
All three garments look fantastic!!! Great job 👍
Found your channel recently and have really enjoyed watching you and your content. I love how you create all the beauty using (mostly) basic home sewing equipment. Well done. Keep doing. 😊
Wow, those came out great and I'm really impressed with what you did with the grey dress, drab to FAB!!
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
Hi Catherine, thank you for all of your fabulous videos. I have learned so much from you and saved the videos to watch again and again. I love to thrift clothing, it’s like a treasure hunt. I am just learning how to resize and alter my treasures. Your videos are so inspiring and the way you just draw then cut into things is amazing! I have tried it on a few things and am getting braver. Thank you again so very much🤗❤️
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your channel, Catherine. Your instructions are so clear and concise, and your bold, adventurous sewing inspires me! Many thanks from BC.
Thanks so much, Jean! I’m in BC too!
The floral t-shirt turned out fabulous! I totally get the high neckline issue…makes me feel claustrophobic, like it’s hard to breathe.
I really enjoy your videos Catherine. They are inspiring and I live how you present them. Thank you!
I absolutely love cap sleeves. Thank you so much for showing how easy it is to turn a regular sleeve into a cap sleeve. The scoop neck is also fabulous. Great job on all 3 upcycles.
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
Love all the upcycles. When your sleeve hits at the widest part of your bust, it just makes you appear wider or blockier. That's why you don't like it (no one does - lol) Cap or longer works best. A high neckline also does the same thing. I love your mixing of patterns and so impressed with your matching of the stripes on the first t-shirt! Was that a coincidence? Gave me so many ideas.
That’s it! You’re 100% right about the sleeve! And the neckline! Thank you, I really couldn’t pinpoint why I hated the sleeves, but that makes total sense. And I wish I could say that I matched those stripes, but I just got lucky. I was just happy I could make the sleeve fit into that armhole!
Omg. I learn so much from every video. I think i want a serger.
Even when I am not as interested in the actual garments sewn, I learn really helpful things from the techniques. Thanks for always warning us away from the simple mistakes we might make in the process. Love your channel!
Love how these turned out, especially that hi-lo hem on the dress! Great idea!
The floral t shirt and the striped shirt are both so flattering for you. Good going, Catherine.🎉
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
The floral flounce dress is my favorite! ❤️
Clever redesigns!
So inspirational Catherine, great work ❤
Love how they all came out in the end great great great
Fantastic! Now I'll be looking at my closet in a whole different way. Thank you for your video!
Catherine, I think clothing design, is in your DNA. With these three upcycled, you have given me, wonderful ideas for two knit dresses, I thrifted, to put them together, and make one very cool knit top. Thx,thx.👏👏👏
What great refashions, Catherine! 💗 I especially love the way you cut curves into your dress. You’ve inspired me to go through my donation bins for raglan tops for sleeves and swing dresses I haven’t been wearing. I think I may be headed to the refashion sewing!
Thank you. Sew on with joy!
Dear Lynn, thank you so much for the SuperThanks! That is extremely gratifying. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and we’re inspired!!!
@@CatherineSews 😘
All 3 are winners! I admit I was skeptical about the dress! But it’s awesome! Just enough leftover for scrunches, if that’s your thing! Thanks for another awesome video!
I love how the blouses came out. 😊
Simply lovely and you combined them with style! Thank you for inspiring! Keep up the good work!
Love the changes in the reserse striped tee.
You asked what was wrong with the original floral sleeve. I think they were too tight ( small). The floral top is incredible. Great style for you! The dress the stripe & floral looks good on you. Not that you were getting ready to go out, but I have a suggestion for the stripe/ floral dress. I think a pair of shoes more like a plain pump, or flats without any straps across your foot because it seems a little too busy. The strip/ floral was inspired. Thank you for all the great tips. I love way you did the floral tee neckline.
I love the tee shirt n the other one you did.
Love love love...I look forward to seeing if you do, do, applique (cutting up the knit pattern/flower) or something like it, and appliqueing onto something else. Especially with knit.
These are right up my street! Just remember that the length of stretch neckbands need to be calculated taking into account the stretch percentage of the fabric, the stretchier the fabric the shorter the band.
If you’re following a pattern and it doesn’t state the stretch percentage in the fabric requirements section you’ll probably have to figure it out yourself by trial and error, even if it’s advertised when you buy your chosen fabric I’d still be careful I wouldn’t take it as read because that information isn’t necessarily reliable and some fabric has a mind of its own!
The grey striped dress having stripes matching on one side but not the other would drive me nutskis 🤣
The sleeve is constrictive.
I agree. It’s too tight and either too short or too long. A cap sleeve is much better. Personally I hate short, tight sleeves that finish above the bicep.
These turned out really great! I’m feeling more confident to make decisions after watching you lol thanks!
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
You are so talented - wish you lived close by. I tried on an unworn beautiful tshirt on this morning and I should never buy a crew neck. I figured I would just donate it. But now I am thinking maybe I could just fix the neck. I will need to watch every thing you did . ❤🥰🇨🇦
Fantastic instruction! Thank you so much for making this video! Each item turned out so beautiful.
You always inspire me!
So wonderful! They all three turned out beautiful.
Enjoyed seeing your creativity!
Well done
Catherine is magical!
Love all three garments!❤ You could take those scraps and make scrunchies?
What you've made is so beautiful!!!! Thank you for this upcycling Videos!!!
brilliant! 👏 You scored perfectly matched striped tshirt and dress, otherwise the lines would be mismatched! and the floral dress gifted you with 2 garments!!!!
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
that flowered piece could have been left as a really cute dress, once you fixed the top!
Very ingenious, thank you for the patient explanations too. Now inspired to shorten a silk sleeveless shirtwaister, a charity shop bargain I think I've worn just a couple of times, (so not really a bargain yet) into a top I'll wear far more often, don't know why I never thought of it before? I would have put pink bias binding round the edges of the floral top, but now you've done it with invisible black it does look just right the way you've done it.
Your talents are absolutely amazing!
Win win win...all so cute😂❤🎉 thanks 😊😂😅😅and so flattering on you!!!
Your energy and excitement is infectious. I always finish your videos big a big smile on my face.
When sewing small, light weight fabric, start sewing on a scrap fabric, sew off the edge, don't cut your thread, then feed your light fabric, under the feed dogs and sew. Don't know if I explained this technique properly, but it always works for me..
That sounds like a great tip.
Quilters call that a leader. You described it perfectly.
I love all three!
More amazing redos! Love these & love your channel!
You could make headbands with the scrap ❤😊
I just stumbled upon your channel but I love it! You make everything look so simple! ❤️
You inspire me!
Excellent! Thank you!
Maybe you could make scrunchies from those three scrap pieces? Love the upcycling of these garments especially the floral top you made and the striped top. ❤ You could mix and match the scrunchies with your new outfits!
Fabulous!
I love your upcycling!
What a great adventure, thank you so much ❤
Such great ideas and great transformation in each up cycle ❤
That dress is the winner and the t-shirts are bonuses! This was a very inspiring tutorial… like all the others you do lol!!😻
Well done, very creative
Loved your idea........thank you
Youre so creative!!! Thank you for this great inspo!!!
You are so sharp!
Thank you for this video. Can't wait to try these techniques. ❤
Another awesome refashion! Thank you for sharing the process🇨🇦🌻
I really love what you do not only it’s beautiful but helps the environment, your doing a great thing here ❤
Oh those turned out great!!! Love the mix and match of all 3. Super cute! 🫶🏼
Well done!
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
Love what you did with these and wow that dress with the angle is perfect on you.
I love your videos. You seem so real and natural. Keep them coming,
Love, love, love all of them ❤ thank you so much for sharing this upcycle, Catherine 🙏 you are such an amazing inspiration 🤗
I wish I was as good as you !!! ❤
Very cool. Thanks.
Love love love your sewing tutorials,I'm so inspired to give it a go. ❤
Hello beautiful 👋🌹, how are you doing?
These are the videos I adore! I enjoy it when you take us along on your creative journey. All three turned out so nice and much more wearable. Thanks ♥️
So inspiring! The dress is dynamite 🙂 The possibilities are endless and I love how excited you are to wear each edited piece
Wow they’re all so great! And you’ve taught me so much about how to use a serger and how to work with knits. I have a few knit pieces that I want to redo. Thanks!
You're just amazing
Very beautiful
I liked the first two. Nice!
third one, the patterns are too different ---so, less harmony is created.
great idea!
Wow, what a great job- all the pieces are super cute now and so interesting to look at, and they are very flattering on you! Good eye to see the possibilities and good teaching to show us how to follow through! Cheers!❤❤
U R sooooo talented. Txs
Love It!!!!
Good job. This sure gives us some suggestions as to what we can do to thrifted clothes.
Great ideas! I think im the only one that cant afford all these sewing machines n tools. Lol
All sewing used o be done by hand in the past! If you have the patience, give it a try… you may surprise yourself! Also, occasionally you may find a sewing machine in a thrift store/charity shop. I’ve seen quite a few over the years. Phone round first to save on fuel, but you may be lucky. Same goes for overlockers/sergers.
You’re so creative & skilled! I have so many comfy cotton tops that I want to upcycle. I sure hope my creativity cooperates! Thanks for sharing!
