There's a lot of focus on UE5, but I'm always impressed with the CoD engine and the results it produces at 60fps. I think it's a remarkable piece of tech. I'm eager to see how it works with full path tracing, which I imagine is coming at some point in the (hopefully near) future.
How come there isn't a native 4k 60fps mode? If they can save 2.1ms from VSSR, plus disable some RT, it should be doable. We've been talking about 4k for a decade now. I really expected ps5 pro to be the one to sandarize native 4k60 with no gimmics.
Do I understand it correct? With a 120hz screen, VRR, it is still best to not use the 120hz mode to have best graphics in singleplayer, after the PSSR fix patch?
The only thing in this video I wish was covered a little more extensively is how the anti-lag VRR mode affects FPS in multiplayer/zombies. ‘Cause from the looks of it (apart from the drops in single player), it looks like a straight upgrade to the 120hz mode. Higher quality settings, resolution, and faster response time. I have a feeling multiplayer is likely a locked (or very close to) 120hz since mp usually runs faster and smoother than sp, but some extra clarification there would’ve been nice. In any case it looks like I’ll probably be switching to that mode, and kudos to you guys for pointing it out, as I had no idea that feature existed prior to this video
So basically it always boils down to "PSSR has not been implemented as a built in feature but patched in and as such a lot of stuff in the pipe line are not adjusted to work with PSSR thus producing artefacts". Like what's with the studios rushing to release PS5 pro enhanced update when they haven't processed in the PSSR and made sure every single effect, shader, whateverthef*ck is working with and accordance to PSSR? Like research that thing for a while, spend couple months, tweak it, talk to sony, implement it right and be praised for a decent update for the PS5 pro and earn some additional cash for it. The worst cases I just cannot imagine what went through bloober teams head as well as respawns team head when they enabled PSSR and said "YEP THIS WORKS AWESOME!" as they watch the whole screen f*cking flickering, endangering epileptics?
@@unknown-jx5yt the 10th gen hardware will be 5-7 years away. It's getting pushed back because there's still a large portion of players on PS4 and xb1

Funny to think that the best console version by some significant margin, is on a Sony platform. Well done to Microsoft for ensuring they make great use of the extra power of the Pro and well done to Sony for releasing such a brilliant enhanced mid gen machine.
@craigsampson3386 Good point. I'll be happy just to see some of the graphical features get a pump up in quality, equivalent to a higher PC setting. But some custom enhancements unique to the Pro would be nice.
They STILL haven't fixed the pssr issue with the horrible pixel noise in darker areas of the image. If it truly took 'half a day' to fix, then why on earth was it not included in yesterday's patch? It really shouldn't be taking this long to pass Q&A. Im starting to wonder if the engineer just claimed there was a 'fix' just to appease DF. A fix for image instability should take priority really. Its the same with Respawn and EA being radio silent about fixing pssr on Jedi: Survivor. Madness. Update: Today's jan 13th patch STILL hasn't fixed it. Ffsake.
I assumed since the pro update the 120hz mode was using PSSR, ive notice there is a lot of aliasing on cables and anything with lines, also on one of the multiplayer maps the sea doesn't look that great it would be interesting if these issues could be improved.
It is *not* in a state worth purchasing. Anti-cheat doesn’t work and is heavily flawed (no fix coming until months down the line halfway into its life cycle), AI art, laughably low tickrate servers that don’t support the competitive nature of the game, bugs galore, and terrible maps - and that’s just multiplayer. Yes, the campaign is good by COD standards, but the fact that it’s always online means that someday you will be unable to play it and zombies. Game pass if you’re interested, do not buy the game especially on Steam as there you lose 1/3 of your frames for no discernible reason.
I'm really interested and curious about why they choose to scale resolution on the horizontal axis only. I'm not sure how many other games do that but it seems like it could be smart, especially with TAA/temporal upscalers.
Those guys are talented indeed, so much visuals and good performance 😊 I hope PSSR really gets fine tuned in the future and not for just Call of duty. Thanks Tom 👍🏼

There's a lot of focus on UE5, but I'm always impressed with the CoD engine and the results it produces at 60fps. I think it's a remarkable piece of tech. I'm eager to see how it works with full path tracing, which I imagine is coming at some point in the (hopefully near) future.
Incredible job, you always bring the coolest stuff.
So anti vrr mode gives less latency they 120
How come there isn't a native 4k 60fps mode? If they can save 2.1ms from VSSR, plus disable some RT, it should be doable. We've been talking about 4k for a decade now. I really expected ps5 pro to be the one to sandarize native 4k60 with no gimmics.
based off on what information
@@utopic1312 Ps5 pro's gpu is basically on par with a 7700xt.
Crazy how a lot of this tech has been seen before in RDR2, shows how ahead to the curve Rockstar is
yeah rockstar are another breed, but you gotta remember, cod has 16.6ms less per frame
This is how your videos should always be done! Nice job.
Why no comparison to the SX?
Do I understand it correct? With a 120hz screen, VRR, it is still best to not use the 120hz mode to have best graphics in singleplayer, after the PSSR fix patch?
yes
I use 120 for multiplayer
No complaints
@Landlord1244 no one asked if you had any. He asked for best experience and that is not it.
PSSR is so bad in this game I had to quit playing. Digital Foundry has seriously downplayed how bad PSSR is in this game.
Sony requires a Ps5Pro patch upgrade. They don't really have a choice.
@Wobbothe3rd They require support, not mandate what features are required. Plenty of games provide support in the way of GPU, not involving PSSR.

Sony is telling them to rush it because they want to sell the new consoles this quarter.
The technique behind CoD is impressive. The only thing missing is that the game is just as impressive. Unfortunately.
Wow!!!! that is not even 2 months into the PS5 pro life cycle, this console will have 4 years until the ps6, I am so excited for its future.
3 years max.
4 years? lol.
@@unknown-jx5yt the 10th gen hardware will be 5-7 years away. It's getting pushed back because there's still a large portion of players on PS4 and xb1
@@Avalanche8181 you may be right but ill believe it when i see it
The snow deformation is cool but i dont remember when it was used in the game or even the campaign
I remember seeing it in CoD Ghost
@@GAMIR_SFM i presume it's just a slightly improved version, heck mud deformation was even on PS3 at launch with Motorstorm.
@@craigsampson3386 VF4 on the ps2 says hi 👋
@@froggydarren oh nice I'm not aware of that one, cool to see the PS2 had some aswell
@@GAMIR_SFM tbh i dont remember seeing it ghosts
Thanks Tom for doing this!! Big respect!!!
Could have sworn I saw in game cutscene clips in trailers that weren't in the game.
it would have been great to see the multiplayer performance as this game is an online multiplayer more than a single player experience
Wow the Sony fans really going hard pretending there are noticeable differences
Console wars in 2025 is crazy you cant be older then 12
Great video
Nice! Great effort to put that much energy in the pro upgrade. It should really drive sells for those who own a ps5 pro.
"only the dogs can hear the difference" well I am an old so it is fine
PS5 Pro vs PC video next please!
I can see the improvements even on my phone
The 120hz mode seems a bit disappointing. Could that mode not benefit from PSSR as well? I mean it's cool the VRR mode seems insanely impressive so I'll likely go for that.
Funny to think that the best console version by some significant margin, is on a Sony platform. Well done to Microsoft for ensuring they make great use of the extra power of the Pro and well done to Sony for releasing such a brilliant enhanced mid gen machine.
If Indiana Jones game doesn't look better on Pro, I will wonder why.
@@TheSentientmeatgood point, will be very interesting to see what they do on the Pro for that game.
@TheSentientmeat Yeah. See no reason why a similar effort shouldn't be made for that game.
@@Jamic9 I wonder if the Pro will just straight up get some of the PC level graphics settings, or if it will be something entirely custom?
Ffsake.
Confused..what resolution did you test the 120fps mode on?
Same as base PS5, native 1440p with TAA upscale.
FINALLY! Now I can play with ray tracing enabled and with MORE FRAMES!
I love my PS5 Pro and all the PS exclusiv games!
they could easily add RT but I respect pushing performance and custom Raster tech. We could have both also lol
I assumed since the pro update the 120hz mode was using PSSR, ive notice there is a lot of aliasing on cables and anything with lines, also on one of the multiplayer maps the sea doesn't look that great it would be interesting if these issues could be improved.
So for multiplayer, would the 60fps VRR be better than 120hz mode for latency? Additionally, should one enable Fidelity FX CAS?
Wish Luigi could have gone to these guys after United Healthcare.
They definitely need to change COD points to COD cash as my nephew asked me the other day if I could get him some CP. 😂🤣😂
Could you please make a Video for Black Desert Console. Very interesting game.
Make a video please with warzone 4 performance on the PS5 pro
IW engine has beautiful TAA
Instead of highly edited cinematics, show me that sandbox playroom and I'm more interested and sold on the game!
11:33 so if I’m understanding correctly, having 120hz mode off with a VRR display is faster latency than running at 120hz enabled?
I'm really interested and curious about why they choose to scale resolution on the horizontal axis only. I'm not sure how many other games do that but it seems like it could be smart, especially with TAA/temporal upscalers.
CoD games have actually been doing that for like a decade. It was very common in the 360-to-PS4 era in a lot of games.
I love mine.
Will PC be getting the SSGI update?
Pretty cool tech
Those guys are talented indeed, so much visuals and good performance 😊
I hope PSSR really gets fine tuned in the future and not for just Call of duty.
Thanks Tom 👍🏼
