Moreover, British manufacturing has gone from 80% of GDP to about 10%. We lost our once great motor manufacturing industry thanks to EU laws that prevented Blair from giving the industry a paltry £400m that pales into insignificance against the £10 billion net given to the EU bureaucrats to subsidies uncompetitive French farmers and the EU Spanish/ex USSR roads. One could write a book on it. Campbell is a Cultural Marxist. He may not know it but that's what he comes across as.

Sovereignty is only ever lent by the people to parliament. After 5 years it must be returned to the people who will then entrust it to the next government through a general election. It must not be given away. It belongs to the people. Only the people can decide if they want to give it away. At last the people have been asked through a referendum and they, quite rightly, have demanded it back.

Just one example of how parliamentary sovereignty has been weakened by EU membership. When we can't lower the rate of VAT below the EU set minimum rate of 15% or where we can't abolish the 5% VAT on domestic fuel ... that has removed some parliamentary sovereignty as parliament has no power to change a law made by Brussels, one which affects the British people.

It's true. We've always had parliamentary sovereignty. It was just getting chipped away year after year. And it was never going to stop.
Sovereignty is only ever lent by the people to parliament. After 5 years it must be returned to the people who will then entrust it to the next government through a general election. It must not be given away. It belongs to the people. Only the people can decide if they want to give it away. At last the people have been asked through a referendum and they, quite rightly, have demanded it back.
Cos Its 167 - I think our masters in Westminster have been quite happy to let Brussels govern, they could always blame Brussels for unpopular policies even if they were really under the control of Westmonster. I also believe that the EU has had its own undisclosed agenda for decades and people (well, some) have only recently woken up to it. One day the pygmies who sit in the HOC at present will be voted out and we may get representatives who actually want to represent the interests of their constituents instead of serving their own interests under the masquerade of representation...... (I've always been an optimist - rolling eyes).
Sovereignty can't ever mean we can do exactly as we choose. Like it or not, it's a global world and we have to look at the bigger picture. Is it a loss of sovereignty to be part of Nato and be obliged to act if a member state is attacked? Being part of a bigger picture is often good
