Hold on to your seats folks because today, we’re going on a ride with the all new Ubuntu 24.04 LTS aka Noble Numbat. Ubuntu LTS versions are the world’s most popular, most used linux distros. And this new version of Ubuntu too is a Long Term Support version and it’s a freaking huge deal because this system will be used by millions of people around the globe very soon.
The next Mega iteration of this super Linux distribution is packed with new features, major improvements and some exciting surprises.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS brings a completely redesigned Software Center with a sleek and modern interface, the latest GNOME 46 desktop as your window to the digital world, an improved installer with simpler options, and extended support for up to 12 years. 12 years. That’s commitment.
I’ve been playing around with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS ever since the daily builds started dropping and it’s a surreal feeling. I think that some of the new things here are going to have a big impact on Ubuntu’s future and even the way we use desktop linux, especially the 9th point in this video, you don’t wanna miss that. As the most used linux distro, this version is going to be the de facto desktop linux for the next few years.
So it’s high time we jumped in and had a look at the new Ubuntu and the new things it brings. Huston we’re taking off with Noble Numbat.

This video is stunning! Thank you! What a great release of Ubuntu
Thank you buddy. Glad you enjoyed the vid😊
Upgraded yesterday from 23.10 to 24.04 (do-release-upgrade -d). Such a smooth and simple upgrade.
@@LinuxTex What is the news of the distribution with the SSD disks, does it cause overheating or not because I have an SSD that was damaged due to the Linux because it was reached 70c sometimes ?
Your enthusiasm is infectious. LoL I'm more of a KDE plasma user but even you got me excited about the new Ubuntu.
Magnificent review, and I have subscribed. Thanks, and God bless,

Amazing. I recently wanted to install some packages, to be more precise ros-humble-desktop,but unfortunately it could not be located. Please can you make a video for it too. ?
As far I'm concerned Humbles is thought to be used along with 22.04
12 more days!
11 more days!
well done, thanks
Thanks for watching!
watching this video on my Ubuntu laptop. :)
Good channel, well done sir👍
I heard W11 might have commercials within the OS. This news brings me here 😂
W10 already have
You're right 👍🏻
But it can be disabled.
It would be worse if not possible
You didn't link the `thunderbird` PPA.
is pinch zoom feature available?
13:00 - Does it support animated wallpapers?
Been looking for a good solution for that.for a while now.
All Linux solutions appear to not allow icons on the desktop.
I was gonna update but then noticed that I have Livepatch on in my 22.04LTS. I somehow got that when the option came up. This means my version will get support for a while.
Just thought I'd watch this to see that the Noble Numbat is all about.
very cool
Great review. I want to get into linux
Thanks buddy. You are welcome.
watch out for backdoor hacking. your system can be compromised
@@1sttrauma264 ok
I can't find this video even if I search it specifically on youtube.
❤ well done ubuntu
Big up
The calendar font looks so tiny.
This is tempting but I'm going to stick with mxlinux XFCE. All your videos are great. What do you use as your daily driver? Hope you don't mind me asking. 😁
Thank you. Right now I'm using Mint. Waiting for Ubuntu stable to release.😊
Which should i choose from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or Mint 22.0
Ubuntu Noble Numbat looks promising can't wait to give it a try
It's fully loaded!
God damn these snaps!😆 Aside from that, looks really impressive! Again - great video :)
Thanks buddy
I am impatiently waiting for Ubuntu Core Desktop.
What is that
@@kuramamizukage An atomic (immutable) Ubuntu desktop distribution, all-snap-built. Even the Linux kernel will be as a snap.
i have both latest versions of Ubuntu and Linux Mint and they feel like 2 totally different operating systems.
Excuse me sir, from an expert perspective, what's your opinion about recent deals between Canonical and Microsoft, snap and snap store being closed source?
No agreements failed due to the open source community who wish you check the source code of every distribution and report or comment on changes
what about backdoor hacking??? any improvemnet there.. scared to switch to any linux distro after the hacker did what he did
can i upgrade from 22.04 lts to 24.0 lts without data loss
Yes. But the update option will be given after some time.
Just back up your data. Don't depend on an OS that doesn't even exist yet
I wish you would cover openSUSE too .
👍!
Just distro jumped to this version, it’s pretty yes… but time will tell.
Do you find that 24.04 chrome-based browsers (I tried snap, deb, and flatpak versions) are slow to open pages? Really slow. I wonder if it's just my set up. I have removed all my chrome extensions, even cut off hardware acceleration, to no avail. This problem started for me in 23.10 and continues now. No other distros (debs, rpms, arches, solus, etc) have this issue for me. I realize this can be a hardware issue, I realize, but it is this way on my wife's Dell and my new custom made AMD desktop. I'm puzzled.
24.04 has not hit stable yet, so judging it now would be unwise. I would wait till the final release and test then.
That this release is almost called "Noble Nuxzbot" still amazes me fr.
I am more exited for Pop_OS build based around this Ubuntu 24_04 tho, but I am gonna test it in few weeks, seems quite good OTB like you said.
That's gonna be a world of great updates, and I'm exited for PopOs and it's cosmic desktop.
I'm already using and loving their pre alpha desktop
Any idea when this pop os build will be out?
@@falajose3080 I see their work and its looking really good
@@horyekhunley Not soon i can assure you, like jose said the thing is pre-alpha so it will take some time to become stable or at least a beta..but things are improving fast.
roll on the end of the month
installer still very buggy , I was unable install ubuntu on my ntb , finally it is running but it is frankly downgrade from previous installer, i revommend to wait it is still not ready to deploment
i ❤ ubuntu
I'm currently using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, can I upgrade to 24.04 without losing my data?
Sure, some time after the release, an update option will be provided
Same question I have , have you been to upgrade ?
Please, put timestamps in your videos where we can jump to or jump over stuff that we're not interested in. Thank you. See Chris Titus videos for a good example.
pl do a videa on kubuntu 24.04
No Plasma 6.1?
No cover!
Can't Use Ham Radio Apps,
what about kubuntu?
The question is remains!
Does it reduces it's boot time
When will be yhe stable release date anybody knows??

Really enjoying the video, but confused by your linux course? Linux is becoming more user friendly with every update and that's what we Linux users want, MORE converts to FREE world, but you're offering command line courses? So DO you want it mainstream OR Niche?
Exclusive??? Anybody can download the beta version of Ubuntu 24.04. Beside that, nice video like always! I am running it too and so far no problems at all. Congrats Ubuntu/Canonical
Can you do a video on kubuntu also ? Thank you
Sure. I'll do it.
Can you tell me must i format my Internal Hard Drive NTFS to Fat32 to install Ubuntu i try to install it but it won't install on NTFS Hard Drive
The installer will format it to the correct format (either ext4 or btrfs depending on your needs) by default ext4 is going to be your best choise. Fat or ntfs will not be used at all
When stable release
This month itself, last week
25th April
Great content... Waiting for your video on fedora 40
Thank you, you have been excellent, Ive decided to dual boot Windows 11 and Linux mint or studio. I'm a streamer with dodi, spelt wrong deliberately. What linux do you think? Light , fast ans smooth HP pavillion laptop. and can you advisee me linux or close to amiga os to sideload windows 11 please, thanks for delux paint 3, possibly more
Ubuntu MATE
ok but , im not switching unitl they have some kind of inbuilt tiling window manger support like pop os.
Ubuntu 24.04 has enhanced tiling options that's pretty interesting. Check it out when it comes out.
will i be able to update straight up from jammy jelly? to this?
Yea but you need to wait for final release
I know everyone only cares about design nowadays, but the new app store should really support Flatpak so we would finally have app management on a single application. Snaps are nowhere near Flatpak in terms of features and usability, but whatever, the design looks good. Gonna take many screenshots of it, I guess.
What features does Flatpak has that snap doesn't?
@@marinlos Control of permissions, folders to be accessed via portals and 100% home folder installation, for example.
@@izuichikitahara5014 snap permissions can be controlled too, I've managed them. I don't know about the other features, I honestly don't have the need for them. One thing I see snap has over flatpak is the availability of terminal apps. I don't really favor one over the other, but I feel the generalized hatred against snaps is overrated and over the top. It's not as bad as people say, honestly it works fine for me. And the same goes for flatpak, it works fine too, both have improved a lot over the years
Flatpaks also do not slow boot and frequently don't have issues with accentuation like snaps do. Flatpaks are fully open source too.
I can handle permissions with snaps. Don't know about folder access through portals because I don't use that. And lately snaps are very fast and responsive, even though probably Flatpaks are faster I suppose. Snaps are open source too. It's the backend of the store which is not open source. One thing I see snap has over Flatpak is support for CLI apps. Even though I like Flatpaks too, I consider snaps to be a viable option
I am facing an issue. During Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installation, the WiFi option is not working although the WiFi adapter is connected properly. Please guide me on how to solve it.
💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you🤟
Man I've a question to you that what edition of fedora is best for a former Windows user based on similarity. Hope u got the question and waiting for ur respective opinion.
Fedora KDE
Did they put unity DE again as the default environment?
It's Gnome but with a sidebar on the left.
i never use ubuntu, can it run Davinci Resolve ?
yes!
I wish gnome would fix its compositor to solve the problem of blurry xwayland apps in fractional scaling. That's the only thing that keeps me from switching as I don't like the look of KDE Plasma.
can i ask if that version support ros ??
anyone know if there is any point of waiting for main release date or just use the daily release ? i want to update... now =) anyone have any objections ? =)
If you spent as much time working on your Linux course as you do promoting it, it would be done by now. I think I bought it like 6 months ago and it's still not done. :(
You talk real fast.
But good low-down on 24.04.
I think I'll wait a few months so other people can pick out the major bugs first.
waiting for your views on fedora 40 😸
Coming soon brother
i like the wallpapers ^^
i dont like new app center because its dosen't allow install from local deb aslo closed way to chose faltpack via the app centter so i installed gnome softower manager
49 minutes to go
Not being able to update or uninstall Deb packages from the software center is a major design oversight. Sad to see on an otherwise good app.
I'm disappointed that Canonical decided to continue with Snap packages instead of Flatpack packages since snap has slower startup, take up more disk space and have higher memory usage.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
:)
es bueno porque uno duraba un buen tiempo eliminando esos juegos, a mi encanta esta versión nueva aunque actualizare a la 24.04.1 para evitar errores que suelen ocurrir al comienzo de una nueva versión.
Great review. Wish they would stop pushing snaps. Nobody wants snaps.
Doesn't bother me.
I'm using it all.
.deb .snap .flatpaks .
appimage, .exe files
There is a fair hysteresis in mouse clicks on some games!
snaps only... man. I really dislike snap.
Anything odd about these comments or is that just me?
Im a kde user and hate how kubuntu 24.04 wont come with plasma 6. I guess ill install arch or something easier like manjaro
.................
It's unfortunately that Ubuntu has chosen to ruin it's operating system with snaps. So far I've been able to work around these by using Mozilla's PPA, but at some point Ubuntu is going to force a distribution switch.
You're right. Also, it's noticeable that each version, a new app becomes snap. It started with Firefox, then Chromium and now LibreOffice.
It will come to a day the whole system would be a snap. It's a matter of time for them to fully move away from Debian.
I use Arch BTW
As long as they stick with snap, I'm not interested
After over a decade of Ubuntu LTS on servers and deskops I now switched to Debian 12. I just had enough of Canonical's bullshit like pushing their propriatary snap packages.
hype, yuk not sure if I want to watch all of this.
LOL. It doesn't really look much different than it did years ago. Hard pass.
that was not expected from ubuntu. i just thought that ubuntu is dead now!
Snaps...no thank you
Trash with Snap
the bar on the left side is a no thanks!
Uhhhh move it , customize it & resize it 🙄
Just set it to auto hide.
This is not windows 11 you can move it around
No thanks. It is full of snap packages. 😑👎
why are you on an ubuntu video then bro
That's why I don't use Ubuntu even if someone offered me 1 million dollars
