    5:15 Actually, the recommendation for “Production machines” is to wait for 24.04.1 Point Release which is due mid-August. Even though the beta is being tested, there will be a lot more users testing and reporting bugs when 24.04.0 is releases which will help iron out issues not previously picked up.

    I just want to add regarding vanguard that it stays on even after you close the game and riot launcher, and if you uninstall riot games launcher it stays on your pc, to disable it you got to enter to the windows command prompt, 99% of users won´t do it.
    Kernel anti cheats are a controversial topic, but if the anti cheat goes off after you close the game there is an argument to be made that at least is temporary. But in the case of vanguard is extremely suspicions in my opinion.

    Vanguard itself is not dangerous, if Riot wants your data, location or anything else they don't need kernel level anti cheat to get it. Meanwhile, it took Mint Edge ISO to deal with that depends libc6 >=2.38, and actually get kernel 6.5. I get that feeling Ubuntu LTS never comes fast enough. The Mainline Kernel Installer just cuts everyone off. Even Debian Bookworm is above the Mint 21.3 kernel 5.x. The Edge ISO is Mint's bandaid.

    • @michael_tunnell
      @michael_tunnell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ubuntu LTS updates the kernel every 6 months. Linux Mint Edge is just implementing the updates from Canonical. As discussed last week though, Mint is implementing those updates in mainline Mint starting with next series which will eliminate the Edge iso need so that’s good

    • @SoulExpension
      @SoulExpension 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michael_tunnell Ya, I read that from the Mint Blog. That's good actually. I actually downgraded off of Edge because I didn't know what mintupgrade would do there. As a hinge point, Idk what libc6 versioning does, but I tried to install kernel packs from Mainline Installer, and yes, your system kernel panics on bootup, so you probably shouldn't use the tuxinvader ppa either which brings up libc6. The entire repo needs to be compatible, but someone on Ubuntu forum figured out you can not install the headers and get a higher kernel to work. That sounds bad because the SMP header is what breaks. If your system runs, it could be doing uniprocessing and excessive loading, or you get lucky until a feature set is required. It may fall back on the previous kernel if you didn't uninstall it... last known kernel attached to previous header, effectively doing nothing with the new kernel. That Mainline tool is probably only good if you are testing/unstable, only updating minor versions. It was worth trying though.

    What's even more baffling about that kernel-level anticheat is that it still cannot detect all cheaters. I don't mean that Riot did a bad job with it, I mean that by its nature, it still cannot detect things that are outside of that computer or outside or the OS. Maybe the "mouse" is actually another computer that runs an aimbot. And I'm sure there are other more creative ways to cheat and be undetected (one of them being simply running the OS in a virtual machine, though I'm not 100% sure this can work).

    I really don't understand why cheating in a game or videogame for that matter makes anyone a "loser in life".
    They really don't deserve that much Hate. They just want to play with and troll the game with everyone else.
    Im glad there is at least one anarchy server I know of.

    • @michael_tunnell
      @michael_tunnell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheating in a video game is a loser mentality in my opinion. The reason is because the whole concept of cheating is admitting to yourself and everyone else that you can’t win without it. If you grind to build skill in a game then you don’t need to cheat. It’s like playing a competitive game against a little kid, if they aren’t old enough to challenge you it’s kind of boring for you so you let them win because winning isn’t important to you since there is no challenge. Cheating to win at a video game is eliminating the challenge and if the player needs that to win then ultimately they are admitting their defeat before the game even starts.
      However, trolling on a custom server where it’s expected, this is completely different. If someone wants to make a server where everything is chaos and that’s the fun of it then it’s not cheating, it’s part of the game and therefore it’s not a loser mentality, it’s a core complement to the game. I look at this like the Olympics. If people take steroids to enhance their performance in the Olympics but that’s against the rules then it’s cheating BUT if they made a version where it’s allowed then I’d watch the crap out of Juiced Olympics lol

      I don't play online tournaments. Never had.
      I find cheating fascinating though.
      I know you see them as losers but I don't see it that way. I look at it as a form of problem solving.
      One solution I liked to cheaters was what Titan fall did. They put all the cheaters on the Same SERVER. I saw a small clip of that a few years ago. I just need to find the server on TH-cam.

      @michael_tunnell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      in my opinion, cheating in a competitive online game is just sad. If they want to play with cheats and everyone involved is also cheating like that game you mentioned then alright no problem. It's like people playing sports while taking PEDs, if everyone is taking them then its not cheating, if only one person is doing it and they win then that is cheating. I dont care if people mess with games or do whatever they want in general to enjoy a game but when they are interfering in a way that causes others to not enjoy the game due to their actions being unfair then yea I consider that a sad thing to do. Its really only competitive online gameplay where I consider it an issue.
