We purchased the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform and accessories well over 12 months ago now as part of our vehicle build series. This collaboration with Rhino-Rack is based on our love for the setup. Rhino-Rack did gift us the Stow It to try out though, which is pretty awesome! 🤙🏻

You know we always do things differently Stewart, we love our Platform regardless of the news though, it hasn’t let us down through all of Australia so far! 🥰
For the majority of users it's still a suitable product. It's an industry wide issue re: load ratings off-road. It does make for good youtube drama though.

What have you done about the horrendous wind noise mine is real bad even at 60km. I have put in a 50" led under the rack but still bad. It also rattles badly. So not happy 😒
We haven’t really had much wind noise if I’m honest? Maybe we’ve got used to it! I remember hearing a little around 80km/h when we first installed it but not enough that it bothered us. If it is rattling, something isn’t tight and you should definitely get it checked out though 🧐
I have the Stow It on my rack, it holds my shovel tight and never came loose over the Simmo,Birdsville & Oodnadatta Tracks👍👍👍 I rate it highly

Very professional. There is that awesome drone footage again. What I liked about this was it had that extra bit of detail people want, like showing the inside of the corners and how to drill out for cables. It would have been nice to have a comment, even a really simple one, that mentioned that Rhino are a "Sponsor or Preferred Brand" of the channel. Regulars know, and its on the website, but you cant have to much transparency. At a minimum in the video description. Look forward to more reviews.

Wacko, pretty bloody professional prezzo there, do you know if I can load a full size rooftop tent onto on of these roof racks?
Thanks Roger! The rooftop tent will depend on the load rating of your vehicles roof, which is decided by the manufacturer and in your owners manual. Once you've got the load rating figures for your vehicles roof, head over to this link bit.ly/boerrlrc and it will calculate how much weight you can put onto the Platform (if you were to have it installed). There is a lot of room up there so I'm sure size won't be an issue though!

I recently got my rhinorack on my Tacoma after a week I regret buying this rack I wish I could return it
With an off road load capacity of 59kg it should be called a mouse rack rather than a rhino rack.
Every vehicle has manufacturers roof load ratings, that’s what restricts us not the rack. Every car is different. Plus we don’t need to carry our whole lives up there so 59kg is great for our setup 🙌🏻
@@BigOzExplorers the rack does restrict as the roof rating is greater than 59kg. This has been exposed already
@@bradrein08 our roof rating is 100kg as per Nissan’s manufacturing guidelines, the rack weighs 41kg leaving us 59kg for carrying a load. Every brand has to adhere to these guidelines. Feel free to read up on how load ratings work on the website with this calculator. ☺️🤙🏻 bit.ly/boerhmou
@@BigOzExplorers looks like they have lifted the off road reduction for this system. It was in place earlier this year. It was your on road capacity divided by 1.5. (OFR=OR/1.5). Which would be 39.33kg in your case. I have a screen shot of the load ratings it used to be.
@@bradrein08 our particular vehicle doesn’t have reductions in place and I’m not sure if the previous Pioneer model did (as we haven’t owned that one), we are a straight 59kg on road or off. I think there is a lot of rave around weights but every car is different and what affected others is different to ours because they own different cars. It’s case by case I guess. If you’re in the market, I wouldn’t rule Rhino-Rack out as every vehicle and roof rack will have some sort of restrictions and the new Pioneer is actually very good 🙏🏻
I’ve got one on my car, works well and looks great, not cheap but hopefully lasts a long time, love your work guys🍺👍

Definitely a nice product but the off road further derating of it's load carrying capacity makes it a very low on the list when others don't derate.
Derating is vehicle specific. Some don’t need derating. Check the load calculator for you specific vehicle instead of simply taking the word of others
It’s a great product, we agree 🙌🏻 Our vehicle doesn’t have further off-road derating though, it’s one set amount no matter the road type. ☺️ Here is the calculator if you want to check it out bit.ly/boerrlrc
@@Corey-pd3mi no one is taking the word of others, yes there is information out there from other people, my vehicle is one that requires further derating off road, the brand I have chosen does not so I have not chosen this system for that reason, Rhino system is a great system and has it's applications and have used it in the past.
@@damienwright8681 I would argue many people have simply written it off simply because there’s a couple high profile TH-cam videos without actually appreciating there are exceptions. Your original comment tends to suggest the derating is for the product when in fact it’s for the application. Hard to believe another very similar product attaching to the same mounting points on the same vehicle could be rated so much higher. Perhaps RR are being more transparent. 🤷♂️
Great tip on the removable corners to hide the wiring 👍👍 they never told me this when I got mine fitted

They hadn’t been released when we ordered the Rhino-Rack so it wasn’t an option for us at the time. ☺️

You guys have to be very careful when selecting a roof rack. You really need to do your research on what suits you. Rhino rack has been in the news lately about load ratings. Look how careful Chris was showing his rack and how he loaded it up.If that what you going to do then rhino is fine for you.If you plan on loading it up then rhino is not for you as most serious 4x4's.Not going to harp on about it, start here for a non sales pitch version..Search ronny dahl hilux roof rack in youtube.Love Chris and families work, I know they need ads to keep their projects going, but this one just didn't do it for me.
Our personal experience with Rhino-Rack has always been a positive one and we support the brands that work well for us 🥰 Sorry we couldn’t please you this time but I hope to see you for the next video! 🤙🏻

I can imagine that would be the case now it’s in the high season! We’re experiencing the same issue with places in Kununurra now we’re back in the tourist season. This year is next level for the number of caravanners on the road 😱

I’d rather have a 4wd super centre rack at least you know your not going to get any after sales service or backup
I agree there shit. Great ideas. Yes! But can’t hold anything off road sorry Steve read out the fine print next time not worth 1k+ to hold a broomstick. Mine came off.
We don’t have a load reduction when off road. We can carry a full 59kg at anytime with our set up as per Rhino-Racks load rating calculator (check it here if you like! bit.ly/boerrlrc ) we also don’t review or partner with companies we don’t love and trust before hand. Ours has never let us down nor given wind noise. Unfortunately, not enough people talk about the good stories and focus only on the negative 🤷🏼♀️
