Glad to see that even though you're a teaching pro you're not too proud to take a lesson, even from your Dad! Sometimes just the smallest of changes can make a difference.
I appreciate it was “Dad” and you are also a decent golfer but it was nice to see a response to “this is my problem” and a lesson to solve it. Every time I have gone for a lesson the pro asks you to hit 7 iron for ages. That feels like they are not interested in fixing your problems but just making money from you. I’ve had this experience with 3 different pros.
I switched to Hzrdus RDX Black from Evenflow Blue for the same reason... so far, so good! You are so fortunate to have this relationship with your Dad...
100% for me Matt! Every "big" number on my card (higher than bogey) is the product of a wayward drive. It's not a lack of distance, it's strictly a big miss that's thru the rough, inside a tree line or in a hazard. So in many cases, I'm playing my 3rd shot from the tee.
Great video! I used to draw most driver shots, sometimes way too much to the point of a big hook. I used the slightly closed stance to, aiming to the right and hitting the inside of the ball. Now I tend to fade or even slice, trying to fix my big draw. I think I need to return to closer to my old swing and/or what you described in this video. Thanks!
A guy I got paired with kept insisting I hit his TSr2 all round. It was pretty cold and wet and I'd been hitting my G410 around 270 all day which is a little short for me. I relented on hole 15 and walloped it 320 down the fairway. I thought it must've hit a sprinkler or a yard marker so hit 2 more the next hole, both 310ish down the fw. He had a super fancy xx-stiff $450 diamana shaft on his and now I'm wondering if it was the shaft or the head. Never had equipment make such a huge difference so quickly...
This is absolutely what I've been working on with driver. More in to out & swing toward 2nd base, get that nice high draw when it goes well. Great vid, thanks Matt!!
Great video. I had the same out-to-in swing issues. I made similar changes as you Matt, but I also moved my back foot back slightly. Helps me shallow out a bit on the downswing.
Really good to see Matt swing patterns change with age too , the most important part of the swing party is at the bottom square on the up and through the ball , Cheers .
I would imagine the weather/time of the year will play a factor here too which wasn't mentioned. If it's cold, the ball won't travel as far. If the ground is wet it will hold it up more. The grass tends to be longer in the colder seasons to protect it so it won't roll as far. Would be more windy too. All will knock off some yards
Very relatable video Matt... I've recently had to do some of the same changes, ie move the ball slightly further forward, tilt the shoulders and adjust the swing path slightly. So far so good.
Hey Matt, Because I am a bit of a nerd, I noticed the percentages seemed to be off. So I counted all your dots and found 14 on the fairway, and 17 right, and 17 left. That makes the percentages actually 29.2% fairway, and 35.4% each for right and left of fairway.
That was the TS R in bag you were fitted for? Problem is TH-cam’rs change equipment as often as trousers sometimes. If you have altered your swing since the club fitting then it needs a re-fit back to the club. IMO, one needs a season or two with a club/s to really gel with them. 👍🏼
Crazy how just tiny changes to the swing produce major changes down the course. Was a slicer my whole life but now it’s baby draw on demand. Great content Matt
Hi Matt, really good vlog and the in to out, draw swing is something I’d like to master. What swing thought/feel are you thinking about to get that swing path as it’s easy saying you’re going to deliver the club on more of the inside but the reality with the driver in your hand is completely different! Thanks
Great video Matt, found it very interesting and useful. most of last year i had a love hate relationship with my driver and lost all confidence in using it. was always hitting it right or left or no distance or swing was weak. definitely found this video interesting and some tips in there that i would like to try out either at the range or on the course
Hey Matt love the videos, I'm heading up to Scotland next month for a boys get away and playing all the great courses like the Fairmount, Jubilee and the Old Course hopefully. Can you please let me know what app is used to trace the golf ball off the tee.
Setting up to the right and playing the draw I would move the ball back a little bit more in your stance not sure if it’s the camera angle looks far up
I've been dealing with this same issue off the tee last year. I feel like I can't get comfortable and pull the trigger. The big pull isn't any fun definitely doesn't help the scoring good luck 👍
Your average driving distance is going to be down when you are hitting it in the rough 66% of the time. No roll out or confidence to swing hard. Everyone has their fairway finder swing which is slower than their confident rip it swing. Find the fairways and the average distance will go back up.
The driver has a specific job and that is to put as much distance between you and the tee as you can. If you want a fairway finder shot (and many holes call for one) then use a different club for that purpose such as a 3 wood or long iron.
You guys who can work on something and then put it into play right off just drive me nuts. I'd have to work on that for months and I'd still hack it for another month on the course. Looking forward to seeing In The Red at Prestwick. One of my favorite places, even though it kicked my ass. I'll get my revenge on it in April. 😂 Keep up the good work Matt. Loving your channel!
Those 2 way misses are exactly what I'm seeing ATM. Miss one left, then the next right. Doing my head in. Then a couple of good ones down the middle. Rinse and repeat.
So would the driver head type cause extra spin ?. Even though you have a positive angle of attack . Mine is about +3 degrees and I am still spinning around 4200-5000rpm . Or would be the shaft? Average spin speed 97-100 and I play a taylormade sim max with a reg flex Ventus blue
Are your long numbers coming in the studio and being compared to on course data? I'm not 100% convinced studio data always translates on course and you have to consider the conditions. We are in the middle of winter, everything is colder, the air is thicker, the ground is wetter.
Glad to see that even though you're a teaching pro you're not too proud to take a lesson, even from your Dad! Sometimes just the smallest of changes can make a difference.

Thanks for the picture to hit the ball at 4 o’clock. Today I drove every drive straight and long. So thanks again for that great tip

your golf shot chart at the beginning gives me a good idea to begin the next season, thanks a lot for the video.

Good luck on the changes and the new season. I looked it up. FYI The PGA tour average is 58.4 for fairways hit.
I must say that new swing looks a lot better and it looks more comfortable. I hope it feels as good as it looks on camera. Happy New Year!

Great video Matt. I'm currently having the same issues and same misses so the lesson with your dad was really helpful
Perfect timing for this topic, just got a home simulator and driver has been a mess for myself. This should get me back on track

Your Dad sounds like a great teacher and coach. Cool video!
One of the best driver lessons I ever had and I wasn’t even there… 😊 great video.
Changing the golf swing is fun and challenging! Excited to see how you get on!
I’m struggling with that exact problem, I tend to fade the ball/ power slice haha great video Matt.
Very relatable video Matt... I've recently had to do some of the same changes, ie move the ball slightly further forward, tilt the shoulders and adjust the swing path slightly. So far so good.

Wow, you're actually 100% correct.
You are a nerd 😉😂
Great video. Keeping a thought of coming in shallow and up rather than steep is helpful to me. Good luck with your new drive swing 🏌️♀️⛳🤠

Great video currently hiting hybrid of the tee shorter but in play

Good solid vlog Mat - always good when you get your Dad involved.
Hope your driving stats go up the way you want them.
Cheers

Where do I sign up to get lessons from this guy?

@@robsengahay5614 I’m hoping this is sarcasm, please tell me it’s sarcasm??

Looked like you got a great lesson. Us as well. Thnx
Great lesson from pops!
Happy New Year Matt, very interesting to see even the best can still learn
Good job.
Happy New year matt 🏌🙂👍

Driving distances in cold weather cannot be compared to what the pros hit on tour on the USPGA in warm climates and fast firm fairways.
Great video as I have same issues over the top
@@FryerGolf thanks for comments have put your practise in my training and great results
Fantastic tips
Always wanted to know what the actual yardages from the fairway back to the tee would be using a laser/scope ?🤔
Great video Matt happy new year pal

Absolutely. You have a good AOA.
Watch TXG test of PXG gen5 to see how a head change can drop that spin down.
Thanks I’ll check it out
On your 4 shot, 6.8 push, 3.62 in/out, and the shot went pretty straight. How did it not slice?
I need to work on my driver also Matt it's gone from best club to I'm gonna leave it at home 😔
Same as what we were working on ……lol (I’m still working on it)
Tee shots with driver, 3 /5 wood, hybrids or irons hurt my game 😫 Has to be mental.

Matt, the TSR2 is one of the most forgiving drivers (that has length) that youve hit? Cheers
I am terrible off the tee. Can't get any distance. Can't rotate. But every once in a while I'll hit a bomb. So frustrating.
Committed to swing 👍👍👍
Get rid of the TSR driver, that should solve the problem 😉
The third shot hit the yellow marker or else it too would be in the fairway
Send me the old Cobra Matt
The LTDX treated you better 😁
@FryerGolf please get a real job
Channeling your inner “Shiels” with that draw, eh?
Seriously, who do you think you are?
Im old greg.
@FryerGolf last time someone tried to scam me on there. Is there a different way?
