Kindly respond. If mobile aadhar card is not connected, will it be possible to get duplicate SIM card as biometric will work only if mobile aadhar card is connected. I have deliberately refrained to connect my aadhar with Phone number.
IN CASE OF SIM SWAP SCAM... NETWORK PROVIDER SHOULD BE HELD FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUING DUPLICATE SIM WITHOUT VERIFYING THE ID AND PERSON IDENTITY AND SHALL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR FINANCIAL LOSSES.
Firstly, Government should make telecom operators vicariously liable for such thefts. Secondly, Duplicate SIM issue in case of theft must be done physically at their authorised outlet, only after producing the FIR copy lodged + Producing the IMEI number of the device in which the SIM was used + AADHAR authentication i.e. showing at the outlet that it's your AADHAR which is linked with this Mobile number. Thirdly, Telecom operators should be given a strict timeline to identify the loopholes in their system.
If aadhar mobile is connected, more danger is waiting for you for your information. If not connected, aadhar based money withdrawal from Bank is not possible for your information.
if you lost ur phone in river, how u file a FIR? everywhere duplicate sim issued using biometrics only, its some people careless attitude make this happen, you travel in delhi metro there you can find people roaming around by keeping phone in back pocket. for such people these things happened. other sensible one will avoid
Triple authentication 1) Send the sim via courier to address mentioned in Aadhar. 2) And send another OTP to address mentioned in aadhar. 3) Send another OTP to email address. Extra measures: 1) Have a cool off period of 1 week before activating the incoming SMS for duplicate SIM. 2) Stop all services to original SIM and telecom service should send multiple SMS to original SIM that all services are being stopped because duplicate SIM has been applied by another person.
This can be prevented but can't be cured. The responsibility greatly lies on telecom companies. Why are they issuing SIMs without confirming the activity and ownership of the old SIMs? Also, why do they allot the closed/disconnected old numbers to new users so early, it must take at least 2-3 years in a dormant state to allot to another user.
they are not relabelling sim numbers to a new person they are getting a duplicate of the sim, applying as if they actually are the current owner and their sim got lost.
Just happened today. Thankfully my carrier gives me 30 minutes to stop the sim change to a new carrier and I changed all my info for my carrier. Changed all my 2fa to app only but my bank only uses sms 2fa… agreed I’m not keeping more than 500$, these sim swaps scams are to easy to do. I’m now scared of all digital after reading horror stories and how easy it is to do
If mobile aadhar card is not connected, can fraudsters take duplicate SIM? Kindly, experts should respond. I have deliberately didn't connect my mobile with aadhar card.
Simple solution here is to stop service providers from issuing a duplicate SIM by default and have an option of biometric authentication for issuance of a duplicate SIM.
Banks should be held responsible...if their system can't secure our money, then they should not provide extra features...we are happy with old banking services
As per DOT, after a SIM swap, SMS service gets activated after 24 hours to prevent this type of scams, if your SIM stops working suddenly, we need to act immediately.
Why is the govt. allowing the telecom companies to issue duplicate sims without proper verfication of reason for sim swapping? And hiw can they allow a duplicate sim even when the original sim/number is active?
Totally fault of system and government.... Always says link aadarcard with mobile no. So we all are compelled. But after phishing no one take responsibility neither bank nor gov/RBI 😏
This is like creating a panic among cell phone users. Are we saying that telecom companies are NOT ENABLED to handel such situation? No way. Subscribers can do foolishness. But all levers available to telecom companies to apply checks and balances to perfectly avoid subscribers from defrauding or trap nuisance creators or help recover from such situations.
If the sim swap is that easy then the network provider should be held responsible directly. Network providers should add security features for online banking users if user want to swap sim it must be verified by the bank first.
Bro use your brain n be safe…always have two accounts one linked to upi and another one not linked to upi…always keep very low amount in account linked to upi..or else only transfer amount which is needed at the time of transaction using your bank mobile banking..neither u get scammed nor u loose money..no risk..I work in Canara bank ..account fraudster tabhi nikal sakte jab aapka account upi se link hoga varna kaise nikalega
Just sending a message to the old sim that a new sim has been applied for is sufficient for most cases. Getting an FIR from Indian police is not easy. I tried this when my PAN card got lost. They are very reluctant.
When there is no network in the original sim then how can one check email because without mobile network you cannot switch on mobile data. If your mobile is connected to wifi then only you can check the emails. I think the police should catch the employee who has issued the duplicate sim card because without a police FIR how can he issue a duplicate sim card.
But Ankit sir, now days getting a duplicate SIM is also very problematic. Many service providers like Jio adopts the process of adhar varification through finger print scan for issuing a duplicate SIM.
Banks should ask for a personal daily limit .. like for me.. i would choose.... anything more than 5000 a day.. i should be physically present at a bank branch.. If i need to pay someone 10000, i do it 5000+5000 or tranfer 2 days before itself So my maximum loss in 1 day will be 5000, 2 days will be 10000 and so on.. but what if i am abroad or in a hospital ... And never notice
For new or replacement sim card issue the following three things should be mandatory: 1. Aadhaar biometrics. 2. More importantly, Sim cards will be sent to the Aadhaar address by post office. Will not be handed over. 3. A printed code will be sent to the same address via a random courier service. 4. When the customer receives all, he needs to enter the code in the ivr from the intended handset and the sim will be activated manually by operator after checking and matching physical gps location of the handset with Aadhaar address.
The maturity period of a Certificate of Deposit issued by commercial banks can range from 7 days to 1 year. Rs. 1 Lakh is the minimum amount to be deposited. Availability of Loan: A Certificate of deposit doesn't have any lock-in period, hence it is unusual for banks to grant loans.
The government has taken decisions to make biometric verification of mobile SIM card dealers mandatory and discontinue the bulk connection mechanism. Briefing the media in New Delhi , Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, registration will also be compulsory for all point-of-sale dealers.18-Aug-2023
No issue of duplicate sim. That number should be blocked. If a person lost the SIM, he should have another SIM with new number. To issue SIMS strict rules should be required that is face recognition and thumb impressions etc.
Triple authentication 1) Send the sim via courier to address mentioned in Aadhar. 2) And send another OTP to address mentioned in aadhar. 3) Send another OTP to email address. I think, all those theft happens the bank account linked to UPI. I think, we should operate two account, one bank link which is used for UPI with small sum of money and another account with majority of money not linked with UPI. Now Aadhaar details stolen as per news, we have no other choice.
Recently due to connectivity issues I got my SIM changed. Once the new SIM was issued the company deactivated the old SIM and I was told I can use the new SIM only after 2 hours and SMS to the new SIM will be restored only after 24 hours. I cannot understand how two SIMS can be operative at the same time as explained in this video.
In that case duplicate sim is the weakest point. Govt. must strengthen law as well as security. Also sim provides security too, why we pay the monthly bill to jio, Airtel companies. Also, public the data for the most vulnerable sim provider as mentioned video "hackers have links with telecommunication companies".
Biometric is not mandatory now for taking new sim. This is why anyone can make a duplicate aadhaar soft copy and take a new sim in some other persons name... Process for taking a new sim should be make strict. Minimum 2 identity proof with biometric authentication should be made mandatory...
Duplicate SIM should be provided and activated only after validation via Aadhar OTP. Also for lost phone etc , a fir copy should be provided with reference number which needs to be validated at ministry of home affairs website.
Why not any sim number, mobile number have some lock pin code,. If the sim is lost, duplicate sim must get activated only after putting the pin. It should be optional.
Telecom company should keep cooling period of three days to start new sim after disconnecting old sim. If your phone remains disconnected more than one day, you can deactivate your card/net banking.
The procedure to get new SIM is.. If your phone is stolen, Telcos ask for Police FIR copy. If you are having issues with phone network and need duplicate SIM, the telco ask for and take back the existing SIM and give new SIM only after deactivating old SIM. Before issuing new SIM, they take Aadhar Biometric and take photo of yours using Telco mobile phone. You have to be physically present there. After new SIM is issued, it will take 30 mins to 4 hours for Network to be activated. SMS will start working only after 24 hours. Till that time you can't send or receive SMS.
Sir all the SIM provider Strictly follow thumb and eye scan process and then swap SIM and also owner of SIM should be available at that time during SIM swap.
Sim activation k baad 24hrs tak sms services barred rehti hai toh ye possible nhi hai ki via OTP aap transaction krpaaye aur isbeech sim owner dusra duplicate sim lele aur nearby police station me report kare.
Sir, sim change karne ke baad Activate hone k baad 24 hours tak koi otp nai ata hai. Every OTP is blocked for 24 hours after sim activated. To 24 hours tak time rehta hai original sim holder k pass... So the govt has to educate people about this.
Bro upi already registered only thing he need is- upi pin, net banking id and password. That's why we should change net banking passwords and upi pins once a month.
One. Thing can be done by new sim activated the banking should be active after 48 hrs...if the individual wants within hours he has to reach the bank personally so that bank can be responsible for any arrears...
Maturity Period: The maturity period of a Certificate of Deposit issued by commercial banks can range from 7 days to 1 year. Rs. 1 Lakh is the minimum amount to be deposited. Availability of Loan: A Certificate of deposit doesn't have any lock-in period, hence it is unusual for banks to grant loans.13-Jan-2023 ✔✔✔✔✔✔
HOW CAN A MOBILE network provider issue a " Duplicate " sim. to ANYBODY without Proof of verification and physical seeing/ scan of original documents..PAN AADHAR...etc...also that network provider MUST verify with call to concerned number before proceeding with issuing new sim cards.... If such is not done by network provider then it shows improper management.and they should be fully liable & made responsible towards payment of compensation.

Maine kal hi ek Airtel ki new sim li... Lete hi bank of baroda se credit & debit ka message aana lga...yha tak ki OTP ka bhi...
HOW CAN A MOBILE network provider issue a " Duplicate " sim. to ANYBODY without
Proof of verification and physical seeing/ scan of original documents..PAN AADHAR...etc...also that network provider MUST verify
with call to concerned number before proceeding with issuing new sim cards....
If such is not done by network provider then it shows improper management.and they should be fully liable & made responsible towards payment of compensation.

Biometric sim jab hai tab kaise possible hai,
I think Telecom company is responsible for that
Then this is telecom company fault y do they provide duplicate SIM????
Setting maximum value of transactions also helps.
Just a simple solution to this, never issue a sim card without the fingerprint which is linked to aadhar card of the prev sim,
So, one of the root causes is, issuance of duplicate SIM.
How to prevent it?
