I purchased Cyclades + all the expansions (including the Kemet crossover) during Matagot's Essen mega sale, based on your recommendation, and it has been a huge hit with our gaming group. Definitely in my top 5!
Statham meets Vinnie meets Achillies meets, segway back to the begining 'Jason... and the Golden Argos workers', earning noughts. I'll look out for this recommendation. Fine work Sir!
Cyclades is AMAZING! Holds up with any Dudes game, better than blood rage/kemet/rising sun imo. Such elegant and streamlined play, but such tactical depth. The auction is so tense. Brilliant brilliant game! The 2 expansions are also must-haves, TITANS for the mobility of titans, and special metropoli; HADES for divine favours and Hades.
It works but it’s better with 4 or 5. 2 player Cyclades consists of build up then someone pulls the trigger and either succeeds or fails. 3 player bare minimum I’d say.
This review plus Alex's review @ boardgameco's channel got me to pull the trigger. I found a brand new copy for ~$30 and found the Titans expansion for ridiculously cheap soon after. Really excited to try it! I hear the Titans expansion is essential.
Huge fan of the Matagot Big Box trilogy but will admit we've had the most success with Kemet in our group. Very recently asked my mate to let us try a 2v2 game with the Titans expansion as I was intrigued by the ability to play one of these styles of game as part of a team...however we got absolutely crushed. Enjoyed the ability to move troops without Ares but we fell so behind on income so quickly that the game was over before it really began. I still would like to try Hades or perhaps Titans again without teams as understand it might be better balanced as a free for all.
I think that hades really completes an already CLASSIC..ps.DIDN"T have noticed how frightening was t gaze of zeus until I watched your clip at 10:24!!!FFS!!!AWESOME art!

I think I´m the only one who does not like Titans... But Cyclades, with or without Hades and Monuments. Pure Gold. Played some War of the Ring and it was a nice thematic but very drawn out slow affair. Cyclades though, is one of those games you keep coming back to. Greek Gods, the primal superhero´s of Western civilization. I will finish my jabbering and get back to work now.
Rising sun is my favourite game of all time tied probably with Dune...i d rather play these games over Cyclades these days so it kinda feel "dated" to me..I don't own Kemet but i ve played it its very good...i would own it but unfortunately there is space only for one epic egyptian theme game and that's Ankh Gods of Egypt..i recommend you check it out the game seems outstanding and i ve seen some gameplay sample from Essen.Hope it surpasses my all time favourite.

It’s our number one game of all time. The auction mechanism is probably the best bit. There’s so many options with a vast choice of expansions. I’ll defy anyone not to enjoy this game.

I played it for the first time in late 2018, and thought it was fantastic. Didn't feel dated in the slightest. Still need to try the expansions.
Titans radically altered the game and adds a 6th player (albeit with teams). So much variety and so many ways to play this one...

@Jason Morris I wouldn't play with less than 4 players. There are better games designed for 2-3 players.

Titans is great but after a gazillion plays we find that we gravitate towards vanilla Cyclades. Life is strange...

We actually prefer the original over Titans (just!)...something about the basic gameplay and uncluttered nature of it that is appealing

I backed it even though I don’t buy games that I already own. I’ll make an exception for this but I just hope I don’t end up eating my words.
