The solo in Pain Killer features both guitarist trading back and forth while swapping the rhythm and lead. Gives them a unique sound. This is a metal anthem revered world wide. Warning! This is Judas Priest at their most metal! You definitely jumped into the deep end of the pool with this one. I think this song was in response to some criticism they received for their album "Turbo". They wanted to prove they still had the chops and could compete with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc., and boy did they!! Their older stuff was more along the lines of Sabbath. Also, Rob Halford is credited with creating the "look" of heavy metal, ie all the leather, studs, and chains. His vocal range is next to none. Many other people here have already suggested it but you should check out their older song "Victim of Changes"

The most metal song of all time by my favorite band ever! At the start you heared Scott Travis (drummer)'s debut with the band, then Rob Halford (vocals) - best singer of all time (at least imo)! Then in the middle you heared Glenn Tipton's (lead guitar) masterpiece solo and at around 3/4 of the song also KK Downing' solo (rythm guitar). And we cant forget about Ian Hill (bass), who is the only original member that is still in the band (since 1969). These guys have been around for more than 53 years and they're still touring and will release a new (19th) studio album in March... You gotta react to more songs by them so you get used to them, before March. My suggestions: -Beyond the Realms of Death (Ative as LEGENDAS - in the title, so you chose the best one) -Screaming for Vengeance (live 1983) -VIctim of Changes (live from Seminole Rock) -Judas Rising (official video) -Diamond and Rust (live from Epitaph) -Blood Red Skies (live from Epitaph) or some of their hits: -Breaking the Law (official or live from Dortmund 83) -You've Got Another Thing Comin (live from Epitaph) Just to name a few lol... enjoy :)
Nice, about time you played the metal masters. Rob Halford is the Metal God, No one like Rob he is in human vocalist. Tipton and Downing on guitars. You need to watch the Sentinel live from 86 or Victim of Changes live from Us festival to get some more of the Priest catalogue. 18 albums and all different. And my kids wonder why Daddy is half deaf 😂😂😂😂😂 We got tickets to see Saliva a month back and my youngest ( the one most like me ) loved that she could feel the drums in her chest ❤
Painkiller is the DEFINITION of Metal. Every other song is measured in the Painkiller scale. And they are still on tour and released a new album in 2024 just as intense. They are in their 70's but nobody told them.
Saw this live in Louisville Kentucky a few years ago. It was the last song of the set and the guitarist Richie Faulkner blew out his aorta at the end of the song and survived.
i love how you were blown away from the start AND THEN the "guitars" solo takes it up a notch LOL. i read somewhere that Priest had been accused of going soft. the Painkiller album was their reply 😁
It's just amazing how you young guys, are rediscovering heavy metal golden era, it's an incredibly important moment in music history that gave way yo a million different bands who follwed their inspiration.
One of my favorite bands of all time. A vid you should check out is the ‘83 US Festival live video of Victim of Changes. British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance, and Painkiller are all great albums. Their new singles (new album drops in March) are excellent - Panic Attack and Trial By Fire.
Welcome to metal in its purest and finest form, Painkiller is my personal favorite Priest song! With that said Priest has never made a bad song, every one of their albums is pure metal gold!

48 year oldschool metalfan from sweden here. This is my youth and STILL to this day when i hear it i'm 15-16 years old. Heavy metal masteri (If there is such a word ). Thanx!
You want to learn guitar? Yes it's hard at first, but one of the best ways is soaking up more like this, and playing with other people. Either a tutor, or - more fun - with a band. You'll pick up influences, learn and trade techniques, and there is nothing like the feeling of pride and joy in putting songs together that you'd pay to hear if it was someone else. It's a long and slow and sometimes painful journey, but so worth it.
Priest rules. This song is from 91 and is among their heaviest tracks. Try something from the mid 80’s like The Sentinel or Freewheel Burning or Riding On The Wind. Or go earlier into the 70’s and do Victim Of Changes. That is a must listen. Plus they have a brand new track out and Rob (the singer) is 72. Check out the new one Trial By Fire. Very cool.
Judas Priest has been around since the 70's, are STILL active, and their sound has changed wildly throughout the years. People are going to throw songs from different eras at you and they will sound very different- and most of it's still good.
If someone challenges you with a question like "what is heavy metal", you play this song for them. This is it. This is the definition of heavy metal.

@@OliOllsenthis kind of thinking is just stupid. well, Priest brought me to playing e guitar for myself, the second name of my son is Adrian... ;-) there are so many, many, many great bands with their own unique touch, and thats the way it should be :-) and youre so right - no one needs 1000 Priests or Maidens or Metallicas or...
This is the metal at it's prime.
Another great song is the cover of this song by the band death. Killer drums
Was about to post the same 🤘🏻
This song saved the genre. Grunge was in heavy rotation at the time and then this came out and brought metal back to life.
I'd say Cowboys from Hell and Rust in Peace have to be included.
Not really. Grunge wasn't a thing when this came out. This was 1990, while Nirvana's Nevermind came out in 1991.
JP are the godfather's of Metal, metal wouldn't be what is without them. 50 years of greatness. If you want to hear some old stuff, anything on unleashed in the east is gold. One of the best live albums ever recorded. Great job on your channel 👍👍
greatest drum intro of all time!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘Night Crawler from the same album is what I'd recommend
Idk it's really good but hot for teacher is better imo
My suggestions:
-Beyond the Realms of Death (Ative as LEGENDAS - in the title, so you chose the best one)
-Screaming for Vengeance (live 1983)
-VIctim of Changes (live from Seminole Rock)
-Judas Rising (official video)
-Diamond and Rust (live from Epitaph)
-Blood Red Skies (live from Epitaph)
or some of their hits:
-Breaking the Law (official or live from Dortmund 83)
-You've Got Another Thing Comin (live from Epitaph)
Just to name a few lol...
They are putting a new album out in March.
I've been a metalhead for most of my life and when I bought this one back in the 90s, I was thrown out of my seat the moment the first beats blasted through the speakers. What more for rap fans like you? 😊 Thank you for your awesome review of this killer song! Welcome to our world!
This band did start at the same-ish time as,Black Sabbath but the 70's version was more HEAVY Metal where, this 1990 release is more SPEED Metal, but whatever version you hear will blow your shit out. I saw them in 1985 in Hollywood FL and couldn't hear for 3 days.....Awesome
how have you gone through life without hearing Judas priest man😝real metal band with you best vocalist ever and still going strong🤩🤩nice to see young folks realizing that the old bands are still about and rocking 🤘🤘keep listening mate lots of that from the past😁😁😁😁keep up the good work mate👍👍👍
Halls of Valhalla, also by Judas Priest. 🤘
I love that you have found them and love it! Really just listen to there first hit, breaking the law. Just a prelude of what was to come!
He's showing his range here.
Check out victim of changes
You should have heard them live in the 80's when they had several rows of 30ft high Marshal stack amplifiers on both sides of the stage. I was deaf for a week after my first JP concert. Worth every minute though!!!
And my kids wonder why Daddy is half deaf 😂😂😂😂😂
We got tickets to see Saliva a month back and my youngest ( the one most like me ) loved that she could feel the drums in her chest ❤
Judest Priest is Heavy Metal real heavy metal
The grandfathers of metal
Unfortunately ive had to listen to this music all my life lmfao ..he says with a cheeky grin ...im glad to be 60 😂❤
Painkiller has the BEST guitar solo of all time
Painkiller is the DEFINITION of Metal. Every other song is measured in the Painkiller scale. And they are still on tour and released a new album in 2024 just as intense. They are in their 70's but nobody told them.
Glad you dove into the PRIEST! They melt everyone’s face the first time! You’ll recover. I’ve been floored by them for over 40 years!
Victim of Changes is the quintessential metal song. Priest kills it every time
Saw this live in Louisville Kentucky a few years ago.
Best vocals, guitars, bass, and f@#$ing drums ever!
this was the album that proved to the world once and for all that Judas Priest are Metal GODS
Wild concert Rob rode out on a Harley and put the mic in the exhaust pipe and reved it up POP POP POP POP it was insane
This is the 1 song that demands to be rewinded! Pure Heavy Metal!
Judas priest are my favourite metal band of all time, and this is the first reaction video I've seen.
I’m glad my reaction video was your first
The “stank face” during the solos was on point 😂 how can you not make that face with this figgin song 🤘
They are still going you know. They just released 2 new songs and have in mind Rob the singer is now 72 years old.
Musicianship is off the chart, a true Masterclass in Hard Rock!
LOVE the visceral awakening of a new metalhead
It's just amazing how you young guys, are rediscovering heavy metal golden era, it's an incredibly important moment in music history that gave way yo a million different bands who follwed their inspiration.
They just released a new record. 50 years after they released their first. Its as good as or better than anything they've ever done
This is melt your face off metal by the metal gods. And one of the best guitar duos in rock,
One of metal's truly ultimate albums. Pure adrenaline from start to finish.
Another phenomenal video to watch is a Band called Dragonforce- Through the fire and the flames. The guitarist has some of the quickest fingers to pick up a six string.Wait for the guitar of between the two guitarists. The original video. 🤘🤘
Drummer is an American fella, Scott Travis. Absolute monster especially at his age.
Yep, just a bunch of brummies, from the home of Metal - thought you'd be blown away - all hail the Metal Gods 🤘🤘🤘
To be exact, they hail from Walsall, in their very early days they used to practice in one of my friends garden shed on Yew Tree Estate!! KK Downing now runs his own venue called KK's Steel Mill in the West Midlands, check out the live version of Diamonds & Rust, another classic.
Wrong. only singer rob halford grew up in Walsall, the rest of them are from West Bromwich and Blackheath
This whole album kicks ax from start to finish Judas Preist kills it 🤘🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔉🔉🔉🔊🔉🔉🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁☠️💭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯✅🤘 PainKiller
Hey my brother from across the pond...I saw priest 3 times in Philly when I was a teen nice for you to finally see them!, by the way the EMF song unbelievable was from an American comedian called Andrew Dice Clay
You are the first that say something over that fabolous gitarsolo!
48 year oldschool metalfan from sweden here. This is my youth and STILL to this day when i hear it i'm 15-16 years old. Heavy metal masteri (If there is such a word ). Thanx!
Haven't even watched yet. Awesome song🤘🤘 I'll give my reaction to your reaction soon lol
It really is a great feeling when your hometown generates some really kick ass music, huh? Seattle native here, and I know how you feel 🙂
And just to add to what you said at the end, I'd wager their 70's sound (first couple albums) is what you expected to hear from them.
