    • @Mark-wo9yt
      @Mark-wo9yt หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don't know about a meltdown, in a way, the Chargers had the FIRST pick in the draft. Everybody knew it would be Williams, Daniels, Maye and Harrison - so the draft really started at #5 - with highly sought after QBs (McCarthy, Penix) on the board. They could have traded back and gotten Fuaga (who playes RT) one of several other top T prospects. Alt's been compared to Eric Fisher - as a Chief fan, that's not good. Fisher stunk his first few years and his entire career in KC was him doing well vs weaker OLBs but getting smoked by good ones.
      The Chargers could have traded back - gotten a stud T - and a WR, possibly even Bowers. Sorry, taking Alt at 5 - with Slater at LT - was dumb...not as dumb as Atlanta taking Penix at 8, but a close 2nd

    Ive been through hell as a Chargers fan for 42 years! This is the 1st time ive had real hope since Marty Schottenheimer (#rip) Ive told people as well, to temper expectations THIS season bc there's lots to change, not just the roster but we gotta fumigate the "Staley Stink" outta the building, then next season we have $100 million available cap and FA's are gonna wanna play for Harbaugh, and with Herbert having a real line and a an ACTUAL running game! Alt was a great pick! The Chargers were 24th in pass pro and 30th in run blocking! Our line went to shit after Linsley got the heart ailment ( non emergent) and was shut down in week 6 ....big changes are happening for this organization!

      @Mark-wo9yt หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you know about Slater at LT? Yes, Alt was the best LT prospect in the draft - picking 5th was an incredibly valuable trading chip...
      This draft was LOADED with tackles - they could trade back - still get a RIGHT tackle AND a (more) talented WR prospect desperately needed since they jettisoned all their WRs and have only Quinton 'hands of stone' Johnston - who right now looks like a bust. They'd better hope McConkey - 9th WR off the board - works out...
      I'll bet Minny would have parted with both 1st round picks to get to 5. In that case, we're talking Fashanu or Fuaga at T and Thomas, Worthy (maybe Bowers) at WR, which to me feels safer.
      I guess Harbum looked at what Mahomes has done w/ garbage at WR for the past 2 seasons and decided Herbert can do the same... give him a great OL and he'll make what he's got at WR work. Herbert is good, but he ain't Mahomes.

    As a chiefs fan this draft was kind of terrifying for us. Joe Alt is the Jason Kelce type that will continuously get better throughout his career to the point that once he sees it happen, he can stop it. Putting a rookie Joe Alt against two teams in the raiders and chiefs with very dominant DL players will only develop him faster as I don't see him ever getting worse from it.

      Relax. This is supposed to be a multi year rebuild, and the moves the Chargers have made look better with each passing day. People didn't like the Joe Alt pick until Tackles started flying off the draft board. And the Junior Colson pick CAN'T be overstated. Dude's gonna fit in perfectly with Jesse Minter and Harbaugh bringing their schemes with them. Junior Colson and Derwin James will be the perfect combination, just you wait. And hey, if the 2024 season comes with growing pains, that's another high draft pick for Harbaugh and Hortiz to play with. The Chargers will have ALOT of Cap Space to work with in 2025, even after the extension we'll inevitably give Rashawn Slater.

    8:34 Palmer (#5) is an option everyone sleeps on. He's not MW or KA13, but he has made some big plays and in many Herbo highlight reels. And he was the guy Herbo chose the 50 yard long ball to close out the Raider game in Oct 2023.

      @@Ryan-wx1bi So? Doesn't the OC call the actual plays? Anyone familiar with Greg Roman? Based on his track record he _hates_ star QBs. (& yes, there are several examples of HCs having problems with their players succeeding).
      Between Lamar's two MVP-level seasons Roman reduced him to 16 TDs to 13 INTs. That's less than half & more than double.
      If anyone asks, I can link multiple videos showing how. Generally 1) he sent receivers on routes that angled in then out, putting the defender between them & the QB. That way Lamar couldn't tell how much separation they had or if they had any.
      Couldn't pass to them.
      2) He sent receivers on route where they only looked for the ball after arriving at the exact same spot as each other, literally tiring them by sending them to run for absolutely nothing. 3) My favorite is him sending *All 4 Receivers On* identical routes that all turned inwards at the same time so they started in double coverage & ended in quadruple. No check-downs.
      4) He *always sent the man in motion **_away from_* the side he ran to. That way he always sent extra blocking away then tipped off the opposing defenses where he was going. He did this for Three Full Years & either no one on the Ravens noticed & _only_ people on the Ravens didn't notice, or it was part of a deliberate attempt to sabotage Lamar netting the huge contract. Whichever makes you think he's competent I'll let you all choose.

    They have their franchise qb, stud left tackle, star head coach and a great edge rush duo (if healthy lol) they have everything you need to rebuild I think they’ll be a playoff team in 2025 and be contending they are a team that I think had a A+ draft got a future star right tackle 2 stud young receivers, a young star linebacker and more. They are in a prime position to turn their franchise around. Now let’s hope they don’t charger.

    Despite (or maybe because of) my Ravens allegiance, a part of me want to see the Chargers succeed. In spite of what you may think of the owner (and I will gladly ream him over the coals if you want me to), that should not drag down the rest of the team via proxy, especially since most players and personnel do it for the paycheck, not cause they like the owner or anything.
    The Chargers have pieces on both sides of the ball, but I always advise tempering expectations. Yes, I get Jim started his 49ers tenure 13-3, but not only did he have a talented roster to work with there, it also happened over a decade ago. It will take him a while to adjust to the current game, so I say be a little patient.

      QJ came into last season as a really weird pick, almost as bad as Atlanta this season. He was drafted ahead of more 'complete' options like Flowers, which is pretty inexcusable, because he is a freak athlete. The downside is he's 1 sided and struggles to make those reach for the sky grabs (that a guy that tall and explosive should have in his repertoire). Starting behind Williams and Allen was always going to kill his production, especially with Eckler being a key receiver too. Towards the back end of last season I saw everything i need to see to believe that he can get 1000 yards this season. he played both sides and was MUCH improved. If he can work on making leaping grabs he'll be elite IMO, and if it remains a weakness he might be a bust compared to other receivers in the class but he'll still be a dangerous (but less consistent and more limited) player.

We have done everything right since that day, sack BS, lose the last 5 games (a couple of them were winnable even for us with a qb2 and we were absolutely right to turn belly up) finished with a worse record by far than we could have in a season where we lost about 5? games to great teams by 1 score, and have recruited the best coach, and drafted impeccably. People laughed when we cut allen, williams and eckler, saying we had no recievers. Well now we have real running backs, our cap situation will be miles better moving forward and we have cut williams who while mercurial, never plays, and Eckler, who is a brilliant receiver and impossible to stop in the red zone, but is one of the worst running backs for yardage in the NFL.
