    Who Do You Think Is Entering A Make Or Break Year In 2024? 🤔

      Sam Darnold. Hes never had a chance to start on a good team and this might be the year he finally gets that. He definitely has the ability to be a decent at least QB, but has only had bad teams around him as a starter. The Vikings have one of the best surrounding cores for a QB in the league. If the rookie they draft sits, darnold has a chance to earn a Baker like contract next year.

      @@MarchOnRome This was also pretty much his rookie season, you gotta remember that he was out almost his entire rookie year due to coming back from ACL, then the gambling suspension happened. Goff also on many passes under threw Jamo not expecting his game breaking speed. Just because he doesn't have volume doesn't mean he wasnt worth a first round pick, you can decide after this season if he was but it's still too early given the circumstances.

      His presence on the field has a huge impact on what defenses can do against the Lions. Which makes life a lot easier for the probowl trio of between the numbers players in St Brown, Laporta & Gibbs. With those players established, it's doubtful he ever gets the target volume to be what most would view as worth a 1st round pick. But the threat his speed poses for defenses can't be understated.

    Ive got some picks
    Emmanuel Forbes: He already had size concerns but he gave up so many yards last year.
    Danny Dimes: Believe it or not. Most of the issues surrounding the giants wasnt DJs fault. But now the Giants are even under more pressure to get another QB even after just paying Dimes.
    Lewis Cine: Has he started a full game for the Vikings yet?
    Kaiir Elam: Looked promising his rookie year. Now hes not good enough to get enough playtime and leaves the Bills with a bigger hole in their secondary
    Chig Okonkwo: Hes not a bad player. But it's surprisingly how literally separation he gets despite being that big and fast. Also very inconsistent blocker

Harrison Amith is coming back again and Cam Bynum and Josh Mattellus will split reps at FS again because they are Leagues better.

      @@FootballAnalysis1 i was perplexed that Jones even got that massive deal in the first place. Bro has never been even decent. Hes in any given week maybe the 20th best QB at best? He should have been traded away or let go. Then the Giants could have had not wasted a season or two kidding themselves hes the guy.
      With Elam, i was surprised he went as high as he did. He has some good traits but the dude needs to become more consistent. Did he gets hurt last year or benched because his reference page has him playing 3 games total.
      With Chig, im torn. I like the guy and think hes a top half of the league tight end, but i thought he would be better than hes shown. Hes not really flashed upside. More like a safe floor.
      I'd throw some player into the Convo here.
      Gabe Davis: He has 1 huge game a year that makes people think "oh hes gonna be good" but just disappears for most of the year. I know he got the big deal, but i think that was more JAX being desperate for a big play guy.
      Vin Miller: He looks cooked. Like old age has finally caught up to him. He played like a raw undrafted rookie last year. If he doesnt at least play average next year, the Bills are gonna find a way to get out of that contract.
      Javonte Williams: Now i dont think this is necessarily A make or career over season for him. I think this year is his last chance to preserve his pre draft hype of a great lead back. If he plays like he did last year, I could see the Broncos moving on and him forcing to take a 1 year, small contract to be a backup.
      Trevor Penning: the Saints might already move on from him, but if they give him one last chance, he NEEDS to prove he can play up to that first round pedigree. They traded up for him to be their franchise LT and he hasn't come close to that yet.
      Tre'Davious White: Injuries. The man has a longer injury history than the guy with glass bones and paper skin on Spongebob. 😆 he needs to play all year to get his reputation back as one of the leagues premier corners.

    Quentin Johnston brings up an interesting topic; Does the college system at certain schools throw off player evaluation? There are many reasons why a fist round pick might not work out. When a single position group from a single school have issues consistently over several years, that's something that should be looked into. Doctson (2015), Reagor (2019), now possibly Johnston (2021) all first round TCU WRs. This happened in the early 2000s with Baylor WRs. And in the 90s with WRs from Florida's fun and gun offense. It's probably easier to notice with WRs since it's a larger position group with a high profile. Still, I wonder if it's a true pattern, or just happenstance.

    Charger sports writer here (LWOS Chargers beat writer), and I have to whole heartedly agree with your take on QJ. One thing that has been interesting, is how much Hortiz really likes QJ. He has said that he has watched his film and said that he really likes what he saw (idk what that would be lmao). That being said, Palmer having his own injury issues, and there being literally no one else, we need QJ to step up. I will say, as a seperator, he has been pretty impressive. He struggles with adjusting to balls and general any sort of contested catch, even if the DB is just in the ballpark of where he is. That being said, I do hope that he does develop his hands, as his YAC is pretty special, and was shown in flashes last season. Kellen Moore did a very poor job of scheming QJ for his skillset and I hope to see Greg Roman use him more creatively. I understand I am practically asking for Jesus to come back to earth, but hey, people still believe that will happen.

    Sadly Jamo just wasn’t targeted much for some reason. Not sure if it was because Ben didn’t draw plays up or because Goff doesn’t like to throw to guys he’s not comfortable with. I’d say the latter.

    • @willg1315
      @willg1315 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    • @michaelwicklund
      @michaelwicklund 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      He couldn’t practice for a while with the team and tore his acl he didn’t get much time to practice and get the chemistry down with Goff and that showed especially earlier on but as he went along he got more pt and targets. He should be a good number 2 wr and 3rd option with St. Brown and LaPorta likely being the number 1 and 2 option respectively. But he can be a 1000 yard receiver and with him being so fast they will have to have 2 safeties drop back or risk a big play opening up the middle for St. Brown and LaPorta even more.

      Jamo’s route running, ball tracking and hands has been bad in general and horrible for a 1st round pick. He’s electric with the ball in his hands, though. Put those two facts together and you see why 14% of his touches are runs.

    Colts fan here. Kwity Paye has vastly underperformed. He is pretty darn good again the run, but he was drafted as a pass rusher. Look at last year. 8.5 sacks? Not bad. When you compare it against 9 TOTAL pressures, you can see the problem. Those stats mean that basically every time he got pressure, he got a sack. However, he only had 9 pressures. That is absolutely insane. This isn’t a DT trying to play the edge. This is an edge defender with only 9 pressures. I highly doubt we pick up the 5th year option. I wish him the best, but some team is about to overpay him next offseason.

      @wlnlax14 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He just hasn't had the targets yet. Lions had the luxury to use him sparingly for explosive plays. With Reynolds gone, he will get most of the targets that would have gone his way. He also will have all off-season with the team to build chemistry and get in a rythem from the start. He's a deep threat as well, which are inherently harder throws to complete in general. If he ends up as a WR2/3 and brings his speed to the table, he's affecting the defenses and opening up Amon Ra underneath. When they cheat Jamo will burn them for a TD. Not worried about him at all as a weapon on the team

    All Watson had to do to win the hearts of most Browns fans was play hard and stay healthy. He has done neither for more than a couple games each season. Even if he was on a rookie contract, that kind of effort and availability would make him despised. To make things worse, Cleveland will be looking for ways to finance a new stadium after next season, either downtown or in some place like Richfield. If Watson sucks or is hurt this season and is still on the roster the next year, a lot of taxpayers would be happy to say no to the Browns.

Jamo had 24 rec for 354 yds, if you subtract ARSB rec (119) by Jamos Rec (24) that’s 95 and if you multiply that by jamos Avg yds per play (14.8) that’s 1,408 yds he coulda had plus what he already had so what in saying is if Jamo had the amt of REC ARSB had he would’ve had 1760 yds this season. That is CRAZY to think abt.

    I'm a Browns fan and I find it impossible to root for Watson. His off field issues make him a complete embarrassment as the face of the franchise, we gave up far too much to get him, and the contract Haslam gave him (yes, I blame our idiot owner) is a boat anchor holding back the team...for years to come.
    If he has a good season in 2024, fine, but I can't wait for him to be gone. I think the chances of him having a good year are pretty slim.

    • @NealBrownnBeers
      @NealBrownnBeers 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They probably take a QB with that first round pick next year and ride out his contract as a cap hit. With how the Browns pay their players, especially guys who you know are going to be there longterm, it still allows the team to move money around with restructures, and as long as at some point in time a lot of those guys get the money they're promised (Which a lot of that is actually upfront, even if it doesn't show up on the cap.). Deshaun's probably still on the roster in 2025 then, but it'd create for a ridiculously awkward situation where there's at least a competition in camp, and as bad as it'd be to have to have a guy on the bench making 64 million dollars it can be done when you inversely have a hopefully successful starter on a rookie deal. They could move on from him at some point as well, but the Browns would likely have to take a massive portion of that salary as a cap hit similar to Denver with Russell, at least what I understand of it. Also as a Browns fan the level of play Deshaun has to reach for the Browns to at least make the playoffs isn't that high, granted for the team to go far into the playoffs he'll certainly have to at least be at Top 10ish level of play, but the team went 11-6 last year with what was pretty bad play, I think everyone rewrites the narrative over how good Flacco looked to a large extent, and PJ Walker/DTR looked like guys were playing in the XFL and was a 5th round rookie QB respectively, but the Browns still managed to win 11 games with both playing by far more games than they should have.
